    Sometimes it's lack of feedback that makes us feel we are not doing anything useful but let me tell you the amount of quality and diverse info on this channel is astounding and you should be proud of it. I can't explain how helpful your videos about music theory have been, it's so hard for me to compose something/understand how something works since I have absolutely no prior knowledge of it + it makes me less overwhelmed when I know that there's a certain structure to do this stuff. I would love to see some videos/tutorials about Ableton btw, because all those plugins, instruments, and just writing something there (like, I have something I'm playing on piano, but then I sit in front of computer and while I set this stuff up and kind of record it, the idea fades away and all I'm left with is feeling frustrated) seems quite difficult..

    • @Woochia
      @Woochia  Рік тому

      I can understand the feeling of frustration, when you're in your flow but the tools get in the way and slow you down :/ maybe I can try to think about ways to smooth out the workflow, but it's definitely something that gets easier the more you do it.

    I'm in the very same place with all my projects, so I completely understand and sympathise. I've so many things to do, that I've given myself project paralysis. I'm trying to work through it too, I'm finding some peace in the Steve Jobs quote: "Innovation is saying no to 1000 things". Granted this isn't quite the context I think he meant, but, that mindset of saying no to more is definitely starting to improve the situation I'm in - good luck, keep thinking on it, the answer will eventually present itself! Oh and I vote - Analysis, Poly-rhythm and Poly-meter.

    now to this video: would it be an idea to get some sort of challenge from your subscriber to make a track in any given genre? you could make a weekly/biweekly (or whatever time interval you feel comfortable) format, and show how you approach different genre's. this sparkes maybe your creativity, and you could pass lots of wisdom along the way while crafting the track.

    I marvel at the energy of YT creators; my own energy waxes and wanes. But, I am most energetic when I’m learning. And when I learn, I feel compelled to share (teach)! I’ve appreciated your theory content, as that is a bottomless well of mystery to me. But I feel I do absorb “bits and bobs” that serve me in the road ahead!
    Also, it’s interesting that you post this about the same time Venus Theory addresses some of the same questions about motivation and “the point”.
    All to say, I appreciate your content tremendously! I find the Muses have their own agenda, so take heart that, if they seem absent, they will return if you stay engaged! Cheers Woochia!

    I don't comment your videos a lot, but I'm a longtime lurker. As too often happens on YT, the best content is very niche and thus doesn't drive much traffic, thus less money I think. I find your videos very useful, almost essential, and that on a huge platform as YT it is something. You should have grow much more, if growth was deserved based on quality. I can only imagine your watch/subs ratio... For example, all aside, you manage to make marketing and tutos without being shill. It's actually surprising to see that you "miss" something from your endevour, because from the outside it seems you're doing great content with good consistency. Actually I admire when a content creator step outside of his comfort zone and explores various subjects, as you do. I understand it could be tiresome, but I didn't imagine you would like to add even more variety!
    Now, to meet your demand, I would really like a sound-disign video about distortion, because atm I feel I'm lacking on the in-the-box sound-design. So, I vote for the second, also, I think you could manage some product placement, considered that all distortion have similar controls. But of course you do what you feel is better for your integrity, I don't feel to judge.
    Anyway, ofc I would like to see all the video ideas you mentioned.
    I wish you the best of luck!

      Thanks a lot for you message, it hits a warm spot. I think it is more something about finding the right balance than doing more. It's a balance between "this is a passion project and this is what drives me" and "this is a business, I need to see progress, this gives me a direction". But in the end, the direction I take may not be the one I want and I lose my drive. So I need to rebalance all that. Though I really pumped by the video I'm working on currently, and yeah that would be something different than what I've done before, and it will be outside of my comfort zone. So yeah, I'm quite excited 😆 thanks a lot for you message man. And sound design seems to be the most voted at the moment, by far, so good news! :P

    Stop selling yourself, maybe even leave the whole UA-cam thing behind, it seems to make you miserable and you say you don't really produce finished songs? For me it really looks like you are pressuring yourself way too much with the whole social media and teacher thing. Feeling guilty for doing what you do or for not doing what you wanted to do is definitely not needed. Your work is really appreciated, maybe it's time to pursue something else than teaching.

      Thanks a lot for you message. Don't get me wrong, I love teaching. It not "this doesn't make me happy anymore, I need something else". It's more "I haven't found the balance to do all the things I need, and lately, I've been making a lot a videos, so I might slow down".
      But I know what I'll do now. I'll explain it in the next video, but I will finish the songs I have done but not released, in video, so it's best of both worlds. I get to make music and finish projects, while making videos on a part of production that is less documented on UA-cam (I think)
