First time I've ever seen Endora and Darrin be civilized to each other. I love how Samantha told Darrin she loved him...her look and voice was so intense.
It was nice to see Andorra in Darren get along. It was a very touching moment. Especially, when Darren hugged Andorra in a sincere and Congratulatory way.

She and Dick York were the parents I've always wanted! Such treasures and gifts to us all! This episode makes me tear up EVERY TIME! Watching this episode again, reminds me of all the strict rules that were in place back in the 1970s (when I first worked as a maternity nurse). Fathers were treated like they were walking bacteria and could only visit during scheduled hours (which limited them to only 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening.... No staying over-night ever!! ). Absolutely no other visitors besides the fathers and grandparents and only 2 visitors at a time ...... No sibling visitation!! Babies only brought to moms at scheduled times and most were bottle fed (yes, only at scheduled times). She has a private room, when most moms after delivery were in wards (four moms to a single room) or a few semi-private rooms (even most labor rooms were semi-private ...... you labored in one room, delivered in special delivery rooms, then recovered in yet another room ...... then out to the OB unit after recovered). When dads were finally allowed into the labor rooms, many just were very hesitant to do so ....... we would on average, have a few dads passing out every week or so.
I thought it was the 1960s. By the time I was born in 1971, my dad was allowed in the delivery room. He was there again in 1974 and 1978 when my brothers were born, even though he was told to go home when my youngest brother was expected, because "nothing's happening." Luckily he did stay. My brother was born not long after.

When my dad lay in his hospital bed dying and I was so screwed up I went outside to smoke and some guy in a golf cart rolled up and yelled at me for smoking on the premises. I have all 8 seasons of Bewitched on DVD and that is one of the funniest episodes ever made. Darrin nearly makes a nervous wreck out of The Nurse (Eve Arden). It is also the episode where Darrin meets Serena for the first time.
Endora no matter her attitude towards Darren we all know she accepts him deep down because he makes Samantha happy. She loves to harmlessly tease him with magic. Darren’s mother however never accepted Samantha.
I thing Darrin's Mother accepted her but she was catty at times. Like she was looking to provoke someone to feel victimized after. She probably thought it was the onyl way to draw attention on her from the others - she did thd same with her husband and they almost got divorced.. I think is jsut her need ți show she still is relevant, something like that.

And Endora was upset when she first found out that Sam was pregnant, feeling it would tie her to Darrin and diapers and a gaggle of babies. That changed here and later in the second season, but when Endora found out that Tabitha was a witch, she couldn't be more of a doting grandmother. 🙂

Oh yes, back then newborns were only brought out at scheduled times. Also breast feeding was largely NOT done. Another rule is that the fathers had to wear a gown over their regular clothes, in order to hold their newborn. I sometimes forget how different maternity care was, when I worked as a maternity nurse and had my children in the 1970s.

It depends. I mean if you are talking ten minutes after pushing baby out then no. She will typically be a sweaty, flushed faced, messy haired sight. With some rest and a few hours she would be fine
