Here’s my take after 1 full listen(and these are bound to change with time, and remember it’s just my opinion. Like whatever you want) 1 Astroworld(after first listen, I can’t find a flaw. Every track has value, multiple perfect songs, it’s an amazing listen, Carousel is my favorite Travis Scott song) 2 Rodeo(mostly bangers, 2 Misses, super unique for it’s time and can see the impact it had. Maria, I’m drunk lives in my head rent free) 3 Utopia(most dynamic album, love the experimenting and unpredictability, but more missed than the other 2, Modern jam 10/10 Travis song tho) 4 Birds(fun at times, feels like leftover from rodeo, still like most of it. Sweet Sweet is my fav so far. 5 Jackboys(meh, very little of note, mostly passable songs, but I’m not gonna revisit most of them. The last 3 are the best songs to me, with our west being the standout to me.) 6 Jack Huncho(so boring ngl, nothing is completely trash, but it’s all so forgettable. I added 4 songs to my playlist, and even that felt generous. Ironically for me, my favorite song is the first one, Modern slavery. Got me hype for the rest of the album, turns out it was a trap. Where did the passion from quavo go? Even Travis slowed down on the second half. I stared listening to birds, and I just keep remembering the chorus from it. Even when I made it to utopia, my reference point for judging quality would be “is this as good as Maria’ I’m drunk or 90210?”. I would even be doing something else, like making food and taking a walk, and my brain would randomly cut to thug saying “call your friends and let get druuunk” and it wouldn’t leave my head for hours. It’s rare a song does that to me, and I take that as a sign that it’s a special song. It’s such a dynamic song. The singing in the beginning really get in you in your feelings. You can really feel the passion from Travis. Then when the beat changes, and thug comes in with those amazing harmonies, it hooks to your ears and you can’t stop listening. Like I said that hook is magical. Even Bieber did great, which was a pleasant surprise. I’m sure eventually the hype will slow down, but for now I’m gonna just enjoy it.
