Along with this man, who's your biggest rival. You can't stand him. For all the wrong reasons. You're not in the party though. The idle chatter was not boring, but you need some quiet time. So you're sitting in the bar, enjoying a rather nice cocktail. It's nice that you're not a lightweight. And then this shock of a song comes along. You hear someone take a seat beside you. You don't need to turn. It's him. As usual he starts with whiskey. Neat. It's quiet. Although you both exchange verbal and temperamental blows all the time, it's only around each other that you both can enjoy the true essence of quietude. "It's in a week." He's the first one to speak. You don't reply immediately. Instead you enjoy sipping your cocktail. "Rumor has it that you're going to quit corporate life if you don't end up being chosen." You bite into your olive, waiting for him to reply. "Be frank" You know he's looking at you, but you don't care to turn to look at him, "how's that going to change your perception of me?" You are certainly a bit surprised by the question, but you don't evade it. "I've heard about you. Orphaned when a boy. You have made yourself from the dirt. You've given 15 years to this company. If you want to quit, you deserve to quit." You turn to look at him for the first time, "besides you're not going to miss money." You finish dismissively. The golden liquid has kissed his lips, leaving a slight sheen. You try not to notice, but of course you do. And you remember tasting the whiskey on his lips on your tongue. A "drunken mistake". "And what are you going to do?" You smile at him sincerely. "I know better than that." He looks at you once, then turns his head away. You keep expecting a jibe or a blunt statement coming your way, but the lack of it makes you uncomfortable. He finishes his whiskey. You both sit side by side. The bartender comes to you when you signal her. "Whiskey neat. And make it two." "Thanks", he says. "I used to know what I wanted to do." You speak. He looks up. "I was born in money. I had everything. And I had nothing. I wanted to be something more. Now I'm not sure." "I know. That was why I was so especially "friendly" with you initially." You grimace. The drinks arrive. You both toast each other. "What about you?" He gets a bit quiet. But he replies. " I used to think money was everything. That it'd give me some autonomy over myself." "Has it?" "Yes. In more ways, no. I think I understand you a bit now." "I get that you just don't like being bound, one way or another." He downs his glass rather quickly. The bar is near the balcony. And it's a nice view. You get up to go look at the city lights. He follows you. You hear him lighting a cigar. And you both stand, hands on the railings, you with your whiskey, he with his cigar. You like smoking, but cigars are strong. You like their smell anyway. Especially the one he smokes. If you weren't a bit inebriated, you would have done a better job at controlling your thoughts, but the memories just ram into you. And you remember. The slight roughness of his hands, the fingers calloused. How they were so gentle and vicious. How his hair felt on your skin. How he'd been so rough. The firm warmth of his being. And how you had bitten him everywhere. How you'd been equally vicious, clinging and clawing at him. And how you had let your shoulder get numb, because he'd been fast asleep in your arms. It had been on a company trip some years before, and you both bit at each other just like before, pretending not to remember. But when it was quiet, you remembered. And you know that he did too. You see him take out a note from his wallet, lighting it up with his cigar and watching it burn in his hand. He gives you a wry smile. You get what he means. This is why you can't stand each other. You are too good at getting under each other's skin. He lets the note fall from his hand. It will eventually turn into ash. Unlike what is going between the two of you. As you were wandering around the abandoned building you feel the warmth and cold surround you, you feel uneasy with the unfamiliar sensation but you like it, you look around the 11th floor and find a room on the far end of the opposing side of the hallway emitting a beautiful vermillion hue, you started walking towards it, while you were walking towards the seemingly captivating room your ears pick up a hoarse but melodious humming, you start sprinting towards the room to find out who it is, once you reach the room you hesitate to twist the doorknob but you still do anyways because you have nothing to lose. Once you open the door your heart drops in your stomach, you find a cross all bloody with bodies piled up under it, it takes you some time to notice but it was actually the blood and the white light of the cross creating a vermillion hue. Feeling a presence you look on the right side of the room and you see a man using money to light his cigarette. His looks were captivating, a sharp jawline and a pointy nose with a beautiful pair of feline mono-lids with amber-colored pupils, plump luscious lips, pale snowy porcelain skin, and shoulder length jet black hair. You refuse to even entertain the thought of you falling for this psychotic crime Lord. "I wouldn't have to resort to such methods. Just stop acting stubborn, darlin'." He leans closer making both his and your foreheads touch "Can't you see that I want you? I'm in love with you..." He whispers softly with gentleness, he loosens his grip to pull you both into a sitting position except that you are trapped in his arms and can't move away. He is searching your eyes for an answer or a reply but you give him none. His face crumples with anger "Well, either you come willingly or unwillingly... But you are coming with me." He then smirks "A life for a life, my love. That is how your kindness shall be repaid." He crashes his hot lips on yours, grabbing the back of your neck and pressing you up against him as you try to push him away. You start panicking and dig your nails deep into his skin in order to stop him from kissing you but it backfires and he kisses you more fiercely.

Once you open the door your heart drops in your stomach, you find a cross all bloody with bodies piled up under it, it takes you some time to notice but it was actually the blood and the white light of the cross creating a vermillion hue. Feeling a presence you look on the right side of the room and you see a man using money to light his cigarette. His looks were captivating, a sharp jawline and a pointy nose with a beautiful pair of feline mono-lids with amber-colored pupils, plump luscious lips, pale snowy porcelain skin, and shoulder length jet black hair. The vermillion hue bouncing off his skin and his jet black hair framing his face and giving a contrast to his porcelain skin made him look like the god of lust himself. The man takes the money looking at it smiling. >> " let me guess, you work every day and you don't make enough, the very bit you have left you put away hoping one day you can leave.. Get out of this cycle only to be left with a measly $20 bill.. As you look at him you feel the tears well up, he wipes them away with a smile. >> "why are you crying{he holds up the bill}You watch as he takes out a cigarette and lights up the bill. Shocked you look at him. He looks at you laughing >> "Will you keep being a door mat to the world? "
As you watch the flames swallow the bill, you realize he is right, you make a fist and scream >> " NO! NO I WON'T! " as you turn to look back, the man is gone. Nothing but the pouring rain in the background and a lighter on the floor.
