The intuition vs. overcoming emotions on the day to day idea is another way of saying leadership vs. management. Leadership is creative, climbs to the top of the tree to scan the jungle and figure out which direction to go, but management is disciplined and hacks the tree branches out of the way to actually go there. That's sage advice about knowing which side of that to be in at different times. Now let's see if I can actually do it!
True! it's tough as a solopreneur/creative you have to do at all at different times, and it's easy to logically understand, but putting it into practice is the real test. You got this!
This man has a point. If the goals are not clear, you are not going to be able to compare your work against the competition. If you can't compare yourself against the competition you won't be able to see where you need to improve. Plus there has to be a certain level of giving the people what they want. You can make the music that you like as a hobby but if it's not mainstream music people want to listen to or pay for, it's not making money and it will always be a hobby.
Im doing full time beat since 2 month and i feel like i have a good level for 2 month beat but i also know i can't sell beats for the moment so im just uploading then and when i will have a good lvl i will start selling them, i think its a good way to improve and start no?
I gave up on selling beats for a while and got a day job as a noise engineer instead. I just didn’t really have the focus although I still do it as a hobby but this is good advice if you are looking to succeed.
It’s a challenge, just speaking from my experience the only way I’ve found success is flipping my mindset from “what do I want to make?” To “what best serves other people?”
@@DillyDGIB thank you good sir! Just so you know, your videos have been a tremendous help in inspiring me to take a long time hobby and turn it into my own small business. I appreciate you taking the time to be honest we all of us about this shit as well. It’s clear you don’t really need to be doing these videos, but you make them anyways and I can’t thank you enough!
I'm sure nothing's wrong with you, it's probably just the choices you're making. You could make different choices and get different outcomes. Maybe make more commercial beats, maybe stick to a niche, maybe pick a better niche. Not sure what your situation is, but there's always something you can do
I'm literally from edm music, i love melody, catchy melody. I would like to make living off selling beats. Should i listen to music and know what artist saying? I'm not english native speaker. Does understand rapper say on song really help make better beats for artists? Should i spend my time to translate lyrics
dont give into your emotions?? music is all about emotion, and not following guideliness. I for instance would rather be broke as fuck, live in a basement for the rest of my life instead of gaslighting myself into thinking that music is all about stats. go and start a bussiniess if you really wanna make money (im not saying that being consistent is any bad, just dont make it too joblike by gaslighting yourself)
I actually love this conversation. So I think that's perfectly cool, you said you would be ok with not earning a ton, but as long as you personally enjoy what you're creating it that's all good. I personally get fulfillment from having my stuff perform well commercially because that means I left a positive impact on a lot of people. So based off what it sounds like your goals are, this video/lifestyle may not be for you, which there's nothing wrong with that at all.
hey dilly, let me ask you when you say be specific you mean use the same keywords over and over again for every song you post……… if you post 10 beats stick to those same keywords is that what you mean?
Russ, Joyner lucas and rick ross Try to get that the real life experience and see what people gets goiing, hangout with rappers Producers don't buy beats , producers buy sample packs 10 years every day at working every single day and even then you make mistakes! Get feedback and get better :)
Reason #79, they aren’t subscribed to Dilly

There is a mad man in my country is named Dilly
@@DillyDGIB😊😅😅😅😊😊😅😅😊😅😅😅😊
I think these are things that everyone has struggled with. Being afraid of habits and a routine is something a lot of producers fall into
Facts, I think it's tough for creative people, but it's also necessary if people want to turn it into a business.
Probably the most valuable video this year so far. You’ve picked a hard topic to cover.
No trash talk, pure facts.
good advice time is key, focus is the map, music is the compass, go sail boyeeeee, basschild comin

Spot on as usual Dilly, your mindset is unmatched!
Thanks bro, that's the best compliment!
Let me know what you guys think of the unscripted content! I'll probably do that for all the videos from now on so I can do a lot more!

Great video. If you spend more time in “beat battles” than making simple beats for actual artists …. you know you’re in trouble 😆

hey dilly I have a question, how many keywords should a type beat channel target max, and at what point should we think of a second channel?
Hey Dilly, what tuner vst do you use to tighten up your bass notes?
Just the stock ableton one!
