What I love about Courtney, and this song in particular is the way that all throughout the song she changes the tone of her voice, at the right moments, to complement the emotion of the lyrics. She is a singing genius.
Hi Jennifer. So great to see you back on a Courtney reaction. Courtney is beyond amazing. I would never dare to pick a favorite Courtney song. Each one is magical and special. However, this song, shows so much of Courtney's vocal versatility in one place. Her gorgeous ballad voice, gritty Courtney and the perfect falsetto. Even more incredible are how seamless her transitions between styles are. One of Courtney's fans played this version for Lewis Capaldi, the originator of the song, and he couldn't stop saying how amazing both Courtney's Voice was and how beautiful her version of the song was. After Courtney finished on AGT, many viewed her as this fabulous, stage dominating rocker, which she certainly is. However, she is so much more. Her four song EP, the 'COver Sessions, which this was a part of, was intended to highlight Courtney's tremendous vocal versatility as well as her creativity. She chose massively popular recent hit songs, across multiple genres and re-invented each one into her own. Most who hear each of the covers think she blew the originals completely out of the water in each case. There is no one like Courtney anywhere in music. You've reacted to two of the four songs on her EP. The remaining two are 'Old Town Road' and Sign of the Times'. Links are below and both are mind blowing. Also, the third song below is a cover of 'Love Hurts'. In this case Courtney is playing this off of her laptop over a live chat. So she isn't singing it live, but many believe this is one of Courtney's most spectacular pieces of music. It is a must hear. Well worth the wait. You obviously are a big fan. Hope to see another on by you from Courtney. Btw, a little fun fact. The guitarist (Lael Goldberg) father painted that artwork on his Strat. He talks about it on his Instagram account how proud he was of it.
Thanks, Jen, glad to see you back with Courtney, who I think is the most unique, and potentially most impactful, rising star! She, like many, has been set back by the pandemic, as well as a contract/label change and apparently some brief illness. But at 17 Courtney is good to go and working hard to finish her album. I can tell you know how special Courtney is; she will have a great career if the whole world doesn't go b__ s__t crazy. I look forward to more of your reactions to her!
@Cristy Rawks Hey Cristy, I was hoping you'd show up to one of Courtney's videos. Not sure what you've seen of her since AGT or even before AGT, but I thought I'd share this one with you to show a bit more of her somewhat recently. It's a mash up video someone did a year ago of one of Courtney's TikTok Shorts covering "Sweet Child of Mine" when she was in lock down in the UK in her just renovated attic/loft studio. This fan mixed some concert video of Guns and Roses with her singing from that TikTok video. It's a mash up so you get a repeated verse by Courtney and with some AGT video of her early on, along with some GnR's video and Slash doing his thing. It's actually well done by someone. Short, but pretty cool. Gives a little insight into what she might be like in concert one day. ua-cam.com/video/HR9S2eXed-0/v-deo.html Jen, you probably shouldn't view it, since I'm sure this video will be recommended to you at some point for a reaction. 😬
Thank you for your reaction, TSEL! And welcome back to the Courtz-World where she takes covers and "Courterizes" them! 😁 What's amazing, she was only 14-years old when she recorded this tune in 2019. So far, you have reacted to 2 of 4 songs from her "Cover Sessions" album, "SUCKER" and "SOMEONE YOU LOVED". Would you please react to the two other songs she also recorded in 2019 when she was 14? "OLD TOWN ROAD" and "SIGN OF THE TIMES" . They are REALLY well done. Here is the link - ua-cam.com/channels/J0UIOws33p5zRE6Eul3rlw.html THANK YOU! 🙏
Another great performance. Her power reminds me of a singer we have down here in Aus. I`ll do a request for a song from this singer in your next Live. 👍
C'était tout mon plaisir ! J'apprends un peu de français, en écoutant Dimash chanter S.O.S. tellement de fois! Je vais peut-être l'essayer bientôt ! MDR. J'aime Courtney aussi ! Elle est incroyable!
She has a great voice and very much more mature than her performances on the tallent show. Hopefully she get the appropriate guidance and direction to keep everything in focus to lead to a long and successful career in the music industry
This is one of my favorites. I can't even listen to the original. You'll love Old Town Road but listen to the original first if you've never heard it. Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil what's his name. Thanks again!!!
