Got the new mount installed and tried it out today! No popping so I believe I may finally have a good trolling motor after 4 months of headaches! They didn’t even want the old mount back! That tells me they knew about this problem! If it was something new like they claimed to me they would want this one back so they could determine what’s wrong with it!
Glad to hear it fixed the issue, at least now I have a route to take if mine gets worse again. I think they definitely know of this issue as I have heard of it often. Thanks for the update
It seems like this is an issue that will happen time and time again unless the new bushings is made of a different material. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!
I would call Garmin if under warranty...mine did not shake alot, but a buddy of mine had one that did...ended up replacing the whole mount to solve issue. If it does not do it when in open water, it may just be the weeds have it off balance. My buddies shook all the time.
My Garmin force started doing it this weekend. Moves super violently while I’m trying to move soft looking for the fish while I’m livescoping. I’ll go to bass pro tomorrow and maybe I’ll must to call Garmin support
@@davidramirezoutdoors I haven't been out too much this year to test it out much. Last time I went out, there wasn't as much weeds. I believe Garmin definitely knows about this issue. They sent me 3 sets of different sized bushings along with a weedless prop. It's nice of them to but it sounds like a design flaw more than ever. I guess I'd have to see how the kraken looks like to know for sure since it's newer and probably redesigned. Those bushings aren't cheap if you have to get them every other year.
I had to do this fix to my TM as well. Funny thing was there were already #2 bushings installed! Anyways, when you do this job you can do one set at a time so the TM is not hanging by the cables at any point. I also lubed the bushings with grease and added blue Loctite to the retaining screws. I am wondering if I could have some bronze bushings made up; that would be a longer lasting solution.
I though about a more ridged bushing idea too, but worry as they seem to be the sacrificial wear component. If the bushing was to hard, I worry it would damage something else. I hope this set lasts a bit longer.
I was a tool & die maker for 40 + yrs before retiring! Some of the designs of this TM leave me wondering how they even managed to get them out the door! The plastic bushings were the first red flag! The popping noise from the mounting bracket the second and now the stop lock feature is without a doubt the third! I’ve had this TM for 5 months and wish I had never bought it. They have replaced the head, the bushings(twice) and the mount!
I may be headed towards a mount replacement myself :( I am happy with it honestly, but not as refined as my old Min Kota was and the spot lock is definitely not on par. I do like some of the other features though...I run mine on 24V and get the same max speed as my Min Kota at 36V, plus the foot control is nice IMO.
I am kind of shocked with the use of plastic as well, especially with the longevity of my first set. Time will tell. They gave me the option, I could have taken the motor in for repair, but it was a simple task and I did not want to be without the motor for a long period, so I did it myself. I actually like that they give that option to us as it gets me back fishing quickly.
The Force trolling motor is no longer on my boat! After several more issues and dealing with customer service I purchased another Minn Kota Ultrex this morning! Garmin replaced the head, the mount, bushings (twice) foot pedal and what put me over the top was a system error that I’m supposed to look on the remote to see what caused it! I didn’t know to do that! Sorry Garmin to much BS!
Didn’t fix mine! New mount should be here today! Mine started popping right out of the box and after a head replacement, bushings replaced twice and leveling again they believe the mount arms are binding!
Very interesting, the new bushing fixed mine, but it has started to pop every so often again now. Not nearly as bad as it was, but I might need to give them a call again. This seems to be a semi common issue, I would be interested in hearing back if the new mount fixes your issue.
And just like that you are back in action. Nice video Paul. Great job.
Thanks, it was more annoying hearing it pop all the time than anything

Most likely unfortunately, they are easy to replace, but a different approach may be needed in the future
Do you have an issue on video while it's happening? Mine shakes violently when it has a little bit of weeds on it 😢.

when needing to replace these bushings what actually happens that will need to replace the bushings
They wear out and the motor mounts start to shift a bit when under power creating a popping noise

Witch bushing did you take 1-2-3 for the upper and lower ? Thank you for the answer!
I ended up using the #3 Bushings...the thickest
I think I have the same problem so garmin sent me the package so I will change everything ! Thank you for your answer!
No problem, the new bushings have fixed my issues for now.

@@1Cast1Fish Yeah, Spot lock SUCKS! It wonders all over the place and even runs the boat into things.
Good information.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed
Plastic bushings? Hard to believe they will hold up and last! So, with a 3 year warranty, the customer does all the service?

Mine is popping again as well, so interested to see how it goes this time. I love the motor...just a few issues that should be adreessed.
