I like the little spongebob gag at 7:13, I've noticed you inject some some more humor into your reviews and I'm a huge fan, fantastic job as always!
I'm glad you like the little touches of humour. 🙂 I try to not force fit it, but will take any chance to have some fun when possible.
Great review. Looking forward to the video on the cable measurements
Glad you liked the review. I'm keen to get to that one to. Officially back at work from today so will start cooking something up with Brian from Wave Theory.
Fantastic review, thanks!
My pleasure!
Great one! Well done 👍🏾
Hi Lachlan, great review 🎧👍
Thanks mate. I'm back at work tomorrow so will be in touch soon to organise a collab.
Hopefully you will be able to review Nightjar Singularity at some point, maybe the main contender to IE900 for the best DD driver title at a similar price.
I'd love to try it!
Thanks for the advice and review Lachlan. Praise indeed. Out of interest have you come across the Strauss & Wagner Vienna Cable for the Sennheiser IE 900 at all?
Very nice review man, thank you. It's interesting sets these, by the way I always assume that an IEM won't come with the best eartips for me, sometimes even cable, so I'm always ready to swap. I've been unlucky on this quite a bit.
Yes. Cables and tips are often best when personalised. 🙂
I think i might take another look at Sennheiser IE900. I have the IE600 and those are Really comfortable and fit perfectly in my ears. The only issue ive had is severe connection issues with the included stock cable. I do want to replace it with a much higher quality cable.
The IE900s ARE lovely. Quite a different sound from the IE600 though.
On the narrow vs wide-bore tips and treble, is that something that can be applied generally or is it specific to this particular set of IEMs?
That's a consistent impact of the tips on any IEMs that I've tested it with.
I’ve been using the Sony IER Z1R for a long time now I wanna try a single driver because I’ve been thinking one driver means more cohesive though multi driver can be cohesive too but they won’t beat a single driver in cohesiveness?
Yes. Single drivers have their benefits (as do hybrids). I've actually got the IER-Z1R coming for review in a couple of months so I'm keen to compare with the IE900 and Svanar.
@@PassionforSoundcool I have both ie900 and svanar in my bucket list
Both are excellent options. If you can wait, I'll be able to provide some specific descriptions of their strengths and weaknesses vs the Z1R.
I’m treble sensitive. Sounds like these might also do well with foam tips as they tend to help attenuate treble.
I’ve intentionally capped my IEM spending at $500 because, like you, I prefer headphones. IEM’s have their purpose and I do have more than just a few but I see no need to enter into the four figure range for one.
I’d love to get your opinion on the IKKO Asgard OH5.
Looking forward to your cable video. I’ve always experienced differences in cables and have long since given up debating about it. The vitriol is real! I really do think that people who are treble sensitive are more receptive to cable differences though.
Great point about the foam tips and also cables maybe being more important for treble sensitive listeners!
I'll see what I can do about the ikko OH5
I would think the 24 k gold will wear very quickly
I wondered about that too. Let's hope not. This pair had done some light commuting in a Pelican case (or equivalent) and they're showing no signs of wear from that.
I don't know why, after all of the feedback they get everywhere, Hifiman seems to refuse to invest in the small details of packaging, cables, accessories, and even the build quality of the complete package. It seems to me like the CEO just can't seem to bring himself to care very much about topics other than the core audio engineering. Something very strange
Yes. They've made changes elsewhere. The new cables with the HE1000 SE are a nice upgrade and they've simplified the packaging of new headphones for the better IMO. Perhaps these were designed before the updates to packaging and accessories
