    Excellent explaining, nice voice, sound, example, and above all great teacher, right person, on the right place, with right skills and full understanding... Keep up👍 It would be cool if you send g code to someone who has a cnc to machine youre design.. or if you have one please machine it hehe. Thank you for excelent explaining and sharing.

    1:10 The big deal about "Zero off the same side" is the fact that errors on the material thickness will have no consequences. If you're not zeroing off the same side, then you have to be 100% accurate on the material thickness

    I would also cut dowel holes in the top in case if you need to put it back. Clear video.

    Good video. Best watched on 1.5x speed, in my opinion

    is there a way to add tabs without the library? can I import a model with tab built in from original STL file?
    THANKS A TON !

    I am confused by one aspect of this video. Z zero for the second side is set to the machine bed, but when the dowel holes are to be drilled into the spoil board the start depth is set at 1" with a depth of 0.5 ". If the tool z position is zeroed on the spoil board, why does this not result in 1.5" holes in the spoil board.?

      It's because she selected "Zero off same side" and then flipped the material over.

    These would be much better if after you did the software part you took it to the real world on a machine.

    When I go to install the tabs by clicking on clipart, my clipart is empty. I am using a MakerSpace client download of VCarve so I don't have the DVD to install the clipart. Is there someway for me to build my own 3D tabs?

    • @vectric
      @vectric  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Dan, unfortunately the Makerspace Edition doesn't include the clipart that is included in the core software. You can however build 3D Tabs using a zero plane with height (to the thickness of the tab you want) and then use the clipping feature of the level to clip the zeroplane to a tab vector - you can learn all about clipping levels here: ua-cam.com/video/JfxWD0_WxJo/v-deo.html I hope this helps as a work around! If you need any more assistance please email our dedicated support team: support@vectric.com. Thank you, have a great day!

    Tab and limit plane do not come when making a 3D model?

    • @vectric
      @vectric  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Manish! If you are making your own model you need to manually add the limit plane and the tabs seperately - this video should help you: ua-cam.com/video/wIOxqcLbJt4/v-deo.html Thank you!

    I don't get the Tabs and Limit Planes when I bring in an STL. Any thoughts on what I'm missing?

    • @vectric
      @vectric  4 роки тому +2

      Hey there! When you bring in an STL within the "orientate 3D model" form you have the option to specify an "overcut distance" (towards the bottom of the form) once you apply and are in the software in the modeling tab your "overcut distance" is represented as a Limit Plane component (flat plane with negative base height) the tabs are manually added in afterwards :) I hope this clears things up a little :)

    24:34 Dowel holes. Any reason why you chose profile and not pocket? Is there a reason not select pocket?

    • @vectric
      @vectric  Рік тому +1

      Hello Eitan, nope... there are a few different ways to cut these, so it was simply our choice for this video. Thanks for the question!

    • @eitantal726
      @eitantal726 Рік тому

      @@vectric Actually, now that I think about it, there is a reason to prefer profile over pocket: When you're doing entire-length cut, a profile and a pocket will give you same end result. A profile cut won't waste time machining a piece that will just fall out

    How do you get the tab to merge with the object? She just says it's already set to merge but how? Thanks

    • @vectric
      @vectric  3 роки тому

      Hey Matt, if you right click on the Tabs Level you can set the combine mode from there :)

    Couldn't you just make 2 single sided and just glue them together? Its easy to mirror any object.

    • @vectric
      @vectric  11 місяців тому

      Hello and thanks for the comment Dave. You could, but this model is not a mirror... the head is slightly turned and the base is a bit different. You are correct, in that if it was you could do just as you outlined.

    Is zero plane same as limit plane?

    • @vectric
      @vectric  3 роки тому

      Hey Scott! Yes you are correct they're the same thing :) When importing models the software helps you out by creating the "limit plane level" with a zero plane component inside - this is the component that you apply negative base height to in order for you to cut past zero :) I hope this helps!

    • @vectric
      @vectric  3 роки тому

      Hello Scott... thanks for the question. Not in this case... we are creating/setting a limit plane and that may be higher or lower then the zeroplane. This will in some cases help us to get to detail that we otherwise might not or stop the cutter from going deepwer then we want using the 3D tooling stragities.
