He's still very much present in the hearts of French people (there are a lot of documentaries about him that are televised (a little one about his first single "Écris l'histoire" will be televised today!). As a French, I wanted to thank you for reacting to Grégory's interpretations. For me and for many others, this young man is a real national pride.
As soon as I saw him through my TV screen, I knew I was going to love him.
He exuded so much kindness and joy (like an angel).
After the mention of his disease, we could hear his wonderful voice and it was a real miracle to attend such a performance knowing that his lungs weren't working at full capacity (imagine if he had been born without this disease...)
Indeed, Dimash has a magnificent voice, but he doesn't give off as many emotions as Grégory when he sings this song, or Daniel Balavoine the original performer.
The description of your goosebumps matches mine perfectly when I hear Greg sing 🙂

Although I am American and a huge fan of Dimash, I was following Gregory's story on youtube long before I had even heard of Dimash. When new youtube reactors are discovering Dimash's "SOS" for the first time, I often place a comment explaining Gregory's story to them (often with a link to his live performance, as I did earlier today) and noting that Dimash has said he first became aware of the song as a result of Gregory's journey. I re-visit Gregory's performances regularly. He was such a brave, beautiful young man.

Dimash is good but in my opinion Gregory is the best! Why because this song is him it’s about himself he understands the lyrics so well that he puts the emotion into it not just showing off his voice! His death and him knowing he will pass when he recorded this brings out the meaningful words out. 😢 Dimash while a great voice cannot touch this song like Gregory can. Don’t forget his live version he was dying 😢

Ceci n'est pas une version studio !! Mais bien un direct chanté sur le plateau de la star academy en 2004. Elle a juste était posé sur un album posthume a son décès !!
