Hi Amie! I've had the velvet flap for a year and a half now and a big issue I've had wear/tear wise is that the chain that lays across the top when you wear it long has created massive indents in the velvet that aren't very attractive when you wear it with the chains doubled up on your shoulder. I wish I could attach photos here, I can DM you one on instagram if you'd like, but it's super noticeable and something to be aware of as time goes by owning this bag :(

i just bought a velvet marmont in colbalt blue, the texture is great! i think you made a great point about the crossbody issue though, the small size should be sufficient for the summer

Hey love, I had the same fear when purchasing the black small leather. I have been super careful with how pointy the top gets, but what I’ve found works the best is how I store it. I store it stuffed with tissue paper and I don’t keep the clasp closed so it kind of just sits on top of the tissue instead of keeping it clasped and pointed while being stored. I feel it’s kept it’s shape better all around from doing that. ❤️❤️❤️
Great comparison!! I really love the velvet version of the marmont but I passed on it because of te whole seasonal thing. However, now that I see the structure holds up better, I may have to reconsider

I definitely like the size and shape of the mini better but I tend to like smaller bags that just hold the essentials since I don't like to cart around a lot of stuff...not that I could ever even afford a Gucci bag lol 😂

I understand velvet has its wear/tear signs but so does leather. It starts fading just like velvet and it’s easier to notice scratches

Great video. i hv the same small leather marmont n hv been using it practically everyday since last Oct n i must say is still holding v well. No sagging, no pointed top so far. I made the right choice 👍👍
Am I the only one thinking about tissues, umbrellas and more practical items to fit in a bag :D? The last things I would carry around are perfume and face mist bottles.
Great vid as always! I've had my mini velvet marmont in the teal for 8 months now and my corners show no sign of wear and tear. The only kind of signs I see are slight indents along the top of the bag from the chain when I wear the strap long.

I have the Gucci velvet in the turquoise/Blue and I've had it for 8 months still looks brand new. I'd go to Gucci and get that checked out if it still bothers you

Looking at the bags side by side in the video looks like the "pointyness" of the small is due to construction, the loops for the chain are much closer in proportion to the size of the bag.
I never liked the marmont until earlier this week, when I saw a picture of a dark blue velvet one.. and I'm not a fan of velvet bags either! Now I'm in love with the black one... Oh, life..

I've had two of the Gucci marmont velvet bags one in small navy and one in mini pink and I sold the both of them. I loved them and was surprised selling but couldn't justify them after seeing wear where the chain lies on the bag when crossbody and when i called the company I purchased from they said it was 'normal' wear so couldn' return it she also said it's a common problem with this bag and right enough the chain lies on the velvet she said she just wears hers under the arm. So I sold as I needed a crossbody and just can't justify pieces that are that delicate. I love the look of the velvet though but dare say I'm getting a little 'Over the whole Gucci thing now since they have got so popular.x

I'd consider contacting Gucci on the wear. I have the teal velvet and I've had hardly any wear. The bottom of the bag has a touch and on the flap where you touch a lot but it's hardly noticeable. I used mine for about three months straight every day too so yeah I'm concerned for you! Love your videos! x

You have impeccable taste, Amie! How do you feel about the marmont super mini in functionality vs. the WOC? I just can't seem to commit to either yet I totally want both! 😀👍❤️
Aw thanks Anne! The thing about WOCs is that the depth of the bag always limits usage so much. I don't have an issue with specific event clutches which happen to be WOCs (and actually find the extra compartments useful) but if I want to use it as an everyday bag, I just think they are too slim. Certainly for me, I have bulky key fobs which I don't want to unhook on a daily basis. I haven't seen the super mini IRL so I can't comment on capacity but for WOCs, I would always consider intended purpose, i.e. event bag = cute, daily bag = not so practical!

I have the mini leather marmont and wore is mostly cross body and single strap exclusively when I first got it. Since seeing your video warning of the flap changing shape, I've tried to change the way I use it but unfortunately, the flap has become more sharp instead or rounded. Not such a big issue with me since I love it so much but it can still happen with the mini.

I am debating between those two. Do you think the velvet one is worth to purchase right now? Velvet one looks much cooler but my concerns are that it might be out of trends/summer time wear.
I love this bag so much! I was wondering of the nude colour has any colour transfer? Also ysl has a great flap bag that does not have the issue of getting pointy on the top! I think it is called the medium envelope quilted bag. I have got it for over two years and it still looks brand new even though i used it a lot!

Hey, hope all is well. I have a couple of questions as I will be traveling to London from the US within the next couple of weeks. Are the prices in Heathrow cheaper than the prices in the regular luxury stores in Heathrow, and if so, does Heathrow offer VAT to tourist who buy designers there or is VAT only offered in luxury stores outside of the airport? Hope this makes sense.
GLAMAFROMNY If you Buy at the airport your purchase would automatically be 20% off so you would not have to claim back the vat as it would already reflect the 20% off. If you choose to buy from a store on the street you would then have to claim your vat and fill in the forms. The prices in store would be VAT inclusive; so yes more. If you have the time check with the stores at LhR to see if your items are available. Much less stress and you get a full 20% off.

I like the small. The mini looks like a little girl's bag on me (5.8 size 4), especially with its heart. I have this bag in medium and small. The medium sags more. The small is perfect!
