The weird sounds and noises seem to be birds and animal life, but played back on a SB16 the instrumentation is broken. A good example of this is in KQ5's forest near the village, you can hear the birds and animals... and when you go to the village and the accordion/hurdy gurdy music plays, the animal "sounds" are still there as a background layer.
But if someone hears the music by itself, the village song also suffers from strange and out of place "notes", that sound like a squeaky unicycle, to quote another youtube video. In our hearts though, we know they are supposed to be birds.

Such a shame you only made two videos, they were great.

The only thing I remember from this game was how awesome the opening theme music was.

At 5:34 those sounds are supposed to be birds chirping and running water. That happens when you select Roland MT-32 when you don’t have one. The MT-32 had the ability to customize and reprogram its instruments, whereas later General MIDI devices lacked this ability. Hence the strange sound effects in this video.

5:36 That doesn't sound like a SoundBlaster, more like a General MIDI device (likely Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth) trying to playback MT-32 (or other incompatible type of) MIDI. Most of the music heard in the video is like this.
    14:04 Sounds like SoundBlaster again.

@@gtc436 Lots of Sierra, I have the police quest series, space quest, manhunter, gold box AD&D among others, I have a wall of games dating back to when I was buying C64 new at the stores and then Dos big box games... I still try to buy them on ebay but they are crazy expensive now. although I just picked up rules of engagement 2 and few others I need to go through but I do buy them on GOG if available so I dont touch these to play anymore.

@@jonathont5570 Yeah collectors have driven the prices sky high.. I'll be settling for loose disks or just GOG for a lot of games. I love the AD&D games as well, have been on the lookout for Pools of Radiance for a while now -- never had the PC version of that before.
