My problem with the "obbies take away mindless gambling" is that just doing obbies over and over is also mindless, and you make way less coins so its a way longer grind
@bananagrape-nq4oz the counterpoint to that is with the obbies, you're jumping and using your keyboard and it takes a lot more of your effort in general - as opposed to gambling which is literally just clicking a button

Gambling machines like sweeper and strike 4 made you use your brain, if you didn't you would lose all your money. Both are inherently skillful, and personally I get more stimulated in my brain when I have to think about something rather then just doing jumps over and over.

Something I really miss though is being able to sword fight friends in the lobby. I know sometimes it could be randomly selected as sword fighting but I enjoyed being able to do it endlessly. Also keep making Pof content your videos are great.

Imo i like the new update, because i already knew gambling was against tos and plus, im not even that mad, i had 30m money but in general all you do is mainly use it for ingame rounds, And the best gear loadout is literally 15k coins. 500k (which i have currently) Is enough for me, I think the only people mad about the money reset are the people who got money to be competitive, Not for the rounds and stuff ya know.
After a week, I honestly understand why exactly but it kinda overkill for reseting the coins, it could be like 75% coins being removed. Still there is improvement to the gameplay like a player effect timers on the bottom right. One thing I have noticed is the huge coin payout after playing a round. So I guess nothing has lost
Pet simulator 99 and pets go has more gambling than plates of fates + it teaches about savings and 99% gamblers quit before hitting big 1% ,I think alot of people are gonna switch to lab experiment or some other plate game.
as an enjoyer of the gameplay and the obbies itself, It's Very Good! lots of qol changes like the timers on the bottom right and the plate change indicators, all time leaderboards back (not a grinder but Still fun to see that), no more leaderboard prizes which caused this update in the second place, obbies are now fun to do and give way more money instead of bruteforcing through hard obby to get ½ of the coins for a grav coil and the few new events are good now i had 33 million coins but i wasnt pissed about the coin reset. maybe its because i already have all the auras and icons that i want but i genuinely dont think you need that many coins unless you have an aura or icon in mind that you want from the shop. maybe there should've been some warning but if there was there would be no more icons/auras left to get since every bought them, but yet again there are gift auras and icons that people dont have so shrug. but ALL of the coins had to go. even if 1% was given back from the coins that everyone had the richest player would STILL have 10 million coins. also heard from a dev that there will be some type of compensation in 2.1(not fully confirmed?) so that will be solved. also coins have been buffed to 100-400 coins per event and obbies to 3k, 7k and 15k which is way better than the previous ones. obviously theres the cooldown but you can play a round inbetween that and do the cycle again also now theres v2a, which adds a WAY better lounge that you can choose what there is from the whopping two previous ones that stayed forever, which were swordfighting and snipertown. + a teleporter, another qol change. overall i think this is a very good update, but 2.1 will be crucial if they want the player count to stay (or have more) as it is rn. Really i think this game kinda stinked from the get go. Having the ability to just randomly buy gears and other stuff is just a really bad idea in practice. Like wth is the 35 coin player gonna do about the guy with 40 mil coins hes just gonna buy every item in the round shop. Meh game average plate gaem better.
@eggxplodee One is more progression based, the other is more akin to p2w, just with money substituted for time. The difference in ability in the progression system [APG] isn't all that much after you get the base powers. That happens pretty early on. PoF is a "the rich get richer" problem where you can't progress properly without those perks, but you need to progress to get those perks in the first place. APGs design caters a lot more to new players, especially after the most recent update where almost all of the crate bloat, like titles, was taken out. There's no footholds for new players in PoF because there's no permanency. Having a million coins is pretty much the same as having those gears permanently. Now it's about equal, but it will become an issue again.

If you watched the video, i try and make it clear that im not choosing one side or the other - however you feel about the game and community is completely valid - my next video is even about all the horrible situations that have happened in the discord server. Great video! I kinda agree with the division of the community into 2 groups, and how its best to respect both of them. With that being said, I dont think this was necessarily a BAD update. The only 2 things that I heavily dislike about v2 are 1) how everyones coins were straight up reset, instead of decreasing them by a certain amount; and 2) how the lounge was removed, there was no need to get rid of it.😭 But except for the two issues mentioned, the update overall did bring a more “oldschool” and “gameplay focused” game to us than a simple gambling simulator, which is healthy for the game.

However, with the update,the first day I made more coins (2M to be specific) in a day than in a regular week by gambling,even if quests rewards were nerfed. So I dont think it is that bad if I can get back my 80M coins in question of a few weeks
(this is coming from someone who was stupid rich prior to the update) i think the new update is both really good and a massive shock to everyone who was used to the gambling. to me it brings me back to pre 1.7, where mostly everyone had between 50k-1m at most and anything over that was considered super impressive. i remember this one moment from like mid 2021 where 9 and a half year old me won a round that gave 128k coins and i went crazy over it 😭 really just goes to show how much it was worth back then, and i think the 1.7 update just completely changed the economy of the game, more for the worse. since ~mid 2024 i found grinding coins to be super tiring, and even right before v2 i felt something was off. still had a lot of love for the game, but not as much as pre 1.7 where more people played the game for the game more than the gambling, which back then was more of a side thing. also dont understand how SO many people were SO angry at the new update; although i do think that zephu removing everyone's coins without notice was really strange, the community's reaction and the staff going crazy in return just really made no sense. like it's okay to be pissed, but not to the point where people were saying theyd never play the game again/mass report/dislike the game over the coins being removed. i havent felt this way playing pof for many many years and its felt refreshing overall ! i do think this video is really well made tho great job :-)

Personally I believe that the gambling and the machines were kind bad especially due to the lack of odds being displayed and the machines being better at gaining coins than the actual game was absurd I also REALLY like the obby changes I played through one while waiting for a round and honestly it was pretty fun the increase in obby payouts is also nice (even though you can full on grind them) the update is very good for newer players larger obby payouts allow for less grinding to buy gear and the minigames acting as a way to mess around and get better at the game while waiting + being incentivized more to y'know... play the game but (coming from someone who lost about 5m coins around 2m coming from 2022 and the rest from a few months ago) there surely could've been a better way to go about it right? maybe something like heavily reducing peoples coins through a percentage could've been better or doing it relative to arcade winnings or smth essentially annihilating everyone's progress was a terrible idea and reducing the machines from 11 to 3 was a massive and understandably disliked change (also only keeping the drop the wheel and plinko is just... weird if they at least had roulette then it would've been like "oh we're just doing the OG machines" but no) I understand why the update was made and I understand why someone would quit the game because of it TL;DR progress deletion was cringe, obbys are cool now, minigames are pretty fun, bring back sweeper and roulette and please PLEASE DISPLAY THE ODDS ON THE MACHINES (sorry for the rambling and awful grammar it's like 9pm when I'm making this so yeah)

This update... is a rollercoaster.... on one hand Crowns are finally gone (thank god) Crowns was just a flex on how much time you spend on the game. AND gamble is reduced was a good thing and another hand.... the coin wipe not being announced like a week later or even a day later was crazy. soild update tho... 9/10

on one hand Crowns are finally gone (thank god) Crowns was just a flex on how much time you spend on the game. AND gamble is reduced was a good thing
and another hand.... the coin wipe not being announced like a week later or even a day later was crazy.

finally, i quit POF:R because entire servers would reset JUST TO GAMBLE which left the ones actually trying to play the game with easy wins and free money, the actual gameplay aspect was sucked away when 1.7 came out
so glad to see it revert back and have the old 3 machines in action, the randomized obbies is a good idea too
