It's fall. The cool air seems to make your motor run better. It's cool enough to slip into a set of leathers. Two lane black tops with enough twists and turns to keep them interesting. Cider mills and pumpkin patches. Little towns filled with interesting shops and a few late season street fairs. This is America anywhere. And there is no better way of enjoying it . Happy motorcycling everyone.
I live close to the Foothills Parkway and visit it regularly. Another lovely road for motorcycle riders near me, is the Cherohala Skyway begining in Tellico Plains, TN and ending in Robbinsville, NC.
It's all about the breathtaking scenery, and those are some spectacular views. Maybe one day I'll be able to make it to the mainland and ride one of those roads!
Great video, thanks for the hard fun work. I was hoping to see some Western states covered, we have plenty of fabulous rides in the West. How bout a video of all the States from the Rockies Mountains to the West Coast, might take a few videos but just think of all the fun riding !
Excellent video. Someday, i'd like to ride some roads in the Southern and Eastern US. Just got back with my brother from the Sierra Mts. in California. We rode about 2500 miles and went up and over 4 passes, most around 10k feet elev. Sonora pass was unbelievable.Others were Monitor and Ebbetts pass. Twisty city. Then when we returned, we went from Idaho into Oregon and hit state highway 71{ID} into state 86(ORE}. .86 was about 75 miles of new asphalt, all twisties and no one on it into Baker, Oregon. Thought I died and was riding in heaven. The Z900 and Z900 RS were a blast. Lots of canyon riding. Anyways, enjoyed the video.
Someone may have already mentioned this but Talimena Scenic is in the Ouachita Mountains, not Ozarks. However Pigtrail 23 is in fact in the Ozarks. Minor thing, thanks, loved the video.
I did Colebrook to Madrid August of this year when I did my 2000 mile ride around new England. (#5) The roads are mostly well maintained. There is a lot of spots to open it up and clean out the carbs. And miles and miles of beautiful scenic views. I started in Connecticut followed 7 up to the Canadian Border (even got a little NY action in) snaked in and out of VT, NH and Maine while going to Fort Kent in Maine before coming back to Connecticut. 5 days, 4 night, 1936 miles. Once you get up into the 3 norther states anything that is not 87, 89, 93, 95 or a "major" highway is an awesome ride. I am going to be doing this trip every year (with road and destination variations) every year until I can not longer ride. (then I'll do in a convertible!)
@@XenaTheQuadCamBikah I ask people every year to go with me and I almost always wind up going solo. I usually start planning 2 months in advance to book hotels and look at road construction. I’m 52. (53 in April) I’d welcome tue company
@@GreatMotorcycleRoads There ate SO MANY road around New England you have not highlighted. I ride 12k-15 per year in these 6 states. (CT, MA, RI, VT, NH and ME). Most of my rides are between 150 and 200 miles per "day". If I am riding multiday I go 400-500 tops per day. I'd love to contribute some of my rides, video's, pictures and info for your reviews.
You nailed it with Talimena! Such a great ride and not alot of traffic which is perfect for me. Oklahoma has a ton of hidden gems if you know where to look.
Outstanding! We just returned from a 9-day in the Ozarks. One of our faves was a loop ride we called the 9 to 5. We stayed in West Plains, MO; took AR 9 south to where it merged with AR 5 & then 5 back up towards West Plains. There's an excellent restaurant at the 9&5 convergence called Anglers. Sits right on the river and perfect place to stop for a lunch break. You won't be disappointed in the roads or the restaurant. Some awesome end of season riding coming for us in the north. Thank you for putting this out.
Im Ready. Been ready. Now will it only stop freak'en Raining ! The first week of October here in the North East should begin a period of decent weather. Ride safe. We aint kids anymore. No more Ride fast take chances. That was fun on dirt bikes but not on the road.
There's also Colorado, Utah, Idaho and the West Coast. I'm not too familiar with the best fall colors spots in those (and other states west of OK), but 395 in California along the eastern Sierras is good. Plus, you can ride up 10-20 miles on the various passes to get some great fall colors, too. Like Hope Valley along 88 (Carson Pass) or on 108 (Sonora Pass) etc. Foothills Pkwy and the Blue Ridge Parkway are definitely way up the list if you catch them at peak autumn. I was a couple weeks early the one time I made it out East and rode those, but it was still very nice.
right on the money with the western states roads and scenery, some of the best, I’ve know as I have ridden many great roads in many great western states.
Great list. A few new ones for me to explore. I’ll be doing the Foothills Parkway on Sunday after my legs are burnt out on a beautiful portion the Smoky Mountain 500.
Just finished a ride through the UP/LP of Michigan. Had Tunnel of Trees on the list but a local said the speeds would be in the 20s at best and very crowded. Nothing like the depicted wide-open, cager-free ride. LOTS of clutch work and stop/go. I passed. A better option was State Rd 58 (H58) from Munising to Grand Marais, MI. This could be the Michigan Dragon! Fantastic road.
Missed Foothills last trip, hope to ride it in a few weeks. Only reason I missed it was it got too bloody cold overnight and I wasn't dressed for it, I was about to head up onto the Cherohala when someone who'd just come over (in a car) told me it was still only 25 degrees up there (at noon), figured Foothills wouldn't be much different so I skipped it. Hypothermia I don't need, I'd already stopped three times to warm up that morning. BTW, there is another section to it, it's further north and not connected to the other parts (yet). Google Maps shows the green right-of-way where the road will eventually run all the way through.
Interesting that Talimena made it over the Pig Trail HWY 23. Pig Trail has more curves and better foliage. Buut, they are close enough you could do both in one weekend!

Anywhere in West Virginia..if you live on the east coast hit WV. Best foliage and great twisty roads..
Good tip!
Twisted sisters and Big Bend National park in Texas is almost available to ride year round depending on your cold tolerance.
Good tip, love that ride!
Tunnel of trees is awesome, i go through it every time i ride around lake Michigan
Right on!

Cherohala is one of our favorites!
Yes sir
My brother's Mini Cooper club drove the Tunnel of Trees the 1st weekend of October '23

Absolutely, thanks for the comment!
Not only excellent tips for rides but also a Rush fan... two thumbs up!
Yes sir! 🎸
I am just getting ready to ride in October. Then again, I live in south Georgia.
The tunnel of trees looks like half of the roads in West Virginia except without the hills and mountains.
Will be heading there soon for a video!
Living in the southeast I don't even ride in the summer unless it's a short early morning ride, fall is the best time of year to ride
Right on!

Great suggestion!
Excellent roads, make sure to be careful with the leaves on the roads, they are as slick as ice!
Good tip!

A couple of good ones near enough, thanks.
US 171 north and south loop along the river from windsor threw pa is a great twisty ride.b safe.peace
Nice recommendation thanks!

Highway 2 in Washington to Wenatchee
Good recommendation!
The pig trail is good during this time as well.
That one is one of the best for sure!
I'm close to foot hills pkwy old sec. Love that road but blue ridge I think tops it for fall. Just watch out for the tourists
True blue ridge parkway is hard to beat!
All great roads, but there’s something special about New England 👍

Fair point, Pig Trail is a excellent road to ride a motorcycle for sure
What happened to the Midwest? Indiana and Kentucky in particular!
You’re right we have to do another video!
Hey guys. Which camera should I use? Battery stabilization and image quality?
For POV? We use Hero GoPro 10 attached to helmet!
🏍🏍🏍
Nothing further west than Colorado??
First
So god's sake, watch out for deer! That time of year, those lil' fuckers will dart out of the woods and take you out!
Very true!
