- What is applied behavior analysis, or ABA? And what can you do with a master’s in applied behavior analysis? This video answers these common questions and provides an overview of what you can expect in Arizona State University’s ABA master’s degree online.
Applied behavior analysis is the study of learning and behavior. ABA professionals follow a systematic and data-informed process to assess behavior, develop personalized therapy plans and ultimately help people change their behavior. The goals of ABA vary from person to person, but usually, the objective is to decrease harmful behaviors and increase helpful behaviors that promote learning. ABA can also be used to teach new skills, improve behavior and help people reach their full potential.
The ASU Online master’s in applied behavior analysis teaches ABA skills while focusing on ethical principles and evidence-based best practices. An ABA master’s online equips you with the practical experience you need to enter rewarding ABA careers in therapy, special education, social work and program management. It can also help prepare you for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)® exam. You will need to meet additional requirements to be eligible to take the exam.

Is MA ABA online degree equivalent to MS ABA? Why aren’t the online degree required GRE?
Hi @Maayisme,
Both the MS and MA contain coursework that will allow students to sit for the BCBA exam. Aside from that there may be some slight curriculum variations between the MS and MA. Many ASU Online degrees no longer require a GRE, with admission decisions being made using GPA, resume, personal statements, etc. Feel free to email gradenrollment@asuonline.asu.edu with further questions!
