    i imagine you would get a pretty good feel for what the dozer is doing, just like with any other piece of equipment.

      Yep, probably the remote is like a small skid steer dozer setup. Maybe there is some depth info? Otherwise, would just need some spatial sense and familiarity with the sort of machine (and practice getting used to the perspective).
      These days, think of all the optical and othet sensors you could have. You could possibly see more than in a regular machine. Might be much more effective in case of needing more detailed work (not that a dozer is always the best for fine work, but everything has parameters they can operate within and knowing them can lead to much more precise work.

    I'm guessing you start out with a good idea of what's down there and where. I'm sure it takes a lot of practice, but in this case, you can probably assume the bottom is pretty level. If not, as you "drive" around, you watch the snorkel and depth marks, and remember how deep it is there, and whether there's any slope, etc. Say sediment has turned a 15ft bottom to 10ft. You proceed to scoop it up and move it, until the depth marks show 15ft across the working area. Not easy, but not impossible.

    I don’t know much about this but wouldn’t a drag line be cheaper to run.

    What if you get stuck? I know dozers need traction for pushing dirt isnt tht big hunk of steel loosing a little weight being underwater?

    I can't see how anyone can do any good with such a machine and not being able to see what he is doing.

      it's radio commanded.
      the guy is on the side and see it moving.
      there are basic moves and it's not fine work,just scrapping work.

    A bit frustrating trying to watch this video dude Zooms in on the equipment but never the tower I spent the whole video trying to see if I could catch a glimpse of the tower up close to the cameraman I don't know maybe try to think about what other people want to see instead of just focusing on what you want to see

      something tells me if they're gonna spend a couple million bucks on an underwater dozer they've got a pretty good reason to be using it

    I know it is a 1 in 500 chance but what happens if it gets stuck or something fails on it. No machine is absolutely perfect all the time. I know it is an odd comparison but just look at the Apollo mission that blew up - all that money spent and they could not get the capsule back (RIP).

      If it was me I would call Sparks heavy equipment recovery and if you're lucky you can get a recovery for free if they agree to a UA-cam vidio.

    • @coolerman4u
      @coolerman4u 7 місяців тому

      If I had a piece of equipment like that and it got stuck I would reach out to Dave Sparks on UA-cam they do heavy equipment recovery and something like that would probably make great content for a UA-cam video and maybe a free recovery for me and millions of views for them

    You do not have to see, you just need to see were the dozer is at. After all it is working underwater and the water is muddy, so no one will see what it was doing.
