@@D4rkstorn you would find it funny if monthy python would have written it.... and it's not an "amateur german translator" it's a professional from a studio. and btw our studios often have to save some of your HORRIBLE line deliveries! Thanks Mr. Gerick who saved Hayden Christensens awful Anakin Skywalker imperssion...and the german dubbing of Hogans Heroes made the entire series like 150% better!
by the way this whole movie is not that good with humor. much of it is just awful or cringy. you need to be drunk, with friends or british to find it funny.

A subtle joke seems to be that although they are the Knights of the Round Table, they don't actually have round tables......
There called that because a round table has no head, so every Knight of the round table is just as important as the other one.

As someone has pointed out, that's the banquet hall - the Round Table is the table where all the knights have the meetings and when the King holds court. Besides, who on earth wants to dance a chorus line on a round table?! Don't be daft.

I've seen this movie COUNTLESS times, but that guy gets me laughing each and every time.

That whole film is a masterpiece of comedy. Saw it first when I was about 14. I am 50 now and it just keeps getting funnier.

I've watched this movie many dozens of times now and some individual scenes well over a hundred times now, none of the humor even slightly wears off. Definitely the most quotable movie of all time IMO too.

I love the little things you barely notice the first few hundred times, like the guy on the far left almost falling over when they're dancing on the broken table. I adore that one knight constantly spinning on one leg too, brilliant scene, brilliant song.

It's a testimony to just how brilliant and ahead of their time Monty Python was. This was made in 1975 and it can still make you laugh. Much like horror, most comedy usually doesn't hold up past, I dunno, 15-20 years? This was made almost 50 years ago and I laugh just as much now as the first time I saw it. They really were brilliant.
They took more pride in their work when they made films back. Even "bad movies" are still enjoyable

That's the banquet table. The round table is where the knights and arthur sit when they are discussing stately matters.

That cat is consistently getting beaten up throughout the movie. The old lady that Arthur and Belvedere say "Ni!" to was beating the cat against a wall when they approached her, and the same character was in the Bring Out Your Dead in the scene doing the same thing in the background.

It's probably just me but Camelot always looked kind of cozy inside. The lighting makes it seem like it's a dark and sealed off from the outside world but the abundance of torches and activity gives the impression that nobody feels like a hermit there.
This is basically what I did in skyrim while the NPCs were muttering to themselves starign blank eyed.
Me: *reading the original legend of Arthur and the Round Table*

When waiting to be admitted, I wrote a cover of that song talking about my university. My only achievement!
Trying to explain to someone why this scene is so inexplicably funny is, well, inexplicable.
This song is such an iconic laugh fest but the bits with the prisoner clapping along and the cat getting stepped on (combined with the noise it makes) have me screaming with laughter every time.
