I now pay 1500 per month for house insurance that cost 1100 per year before the hurricanes. And I had to take my insurer to court to get payment for damages.

Florida needs to address the fact they have allowed our housing and insurance to be utilized as a profit center for private equity groups, mortgage companies and lawyers. Banks started suing carriers to cover damages left by foreclosed buyers and renters. It's not a covered loss but that didn't stop them from suing since they know their client isn't going to pay them. Litigation with one-way attorney fees drove the industry into an early grave here in Florida. The very fact that I would need an attorney to resolve my property claim disputes shows you how little interest legislators have in solving problems in the state. I should not need a Public Adjuster or an Attorney to settle a claim for property damages. Policies are to be written for a 5th grade reading level so I should be able to read it to understand my coverages and my rights. Private equity needs to be regulated for price gouging rents, ignoring repairs and maintenance and limits placed on percentage of ownership within a community. It will be 2008 again when they dump their holdings on us after they find better places to sink their billions of dollars. There are some 27,000 private equity owned homes in the Tampa Bay area. There is no coverage for intentionally caused damage to the home for you or me so frivolous lawsuits from banks should be eradicated. Lawyers should have to act ethically and stop taking cases where the carrier offered limits just so they can collect hundreds and thousands of dollars in attorney fees refusing to settle for limits! It is sickening how in 30-years private equity and attorneys have destroyed our sense of security in owning our own homes by gutting the industry there to protect us!!!! VOTE!!! It matters!!!!
Right now Florida is a piss poor state to live in when it comes to insurance if its involves home medical or auto but not only insurance but property taxes are going through the roof as well. If they cannot find a viable fix for these issues people will start moving out or people will become homeless because they will get their houses or property taken away from them because they simply cannot afford it.
Do anyone do the math to figure out between using loopholes to help instead of harm and all affiliated coasts broke even or changed polarity? If the companies are gonna need a bail out regardless you’d think having people satisfied in the same process would at least be a change up and may actually save money when you stop feeding the costs in the process

To change the situation we must change our representation.
The echo is horrible unfortunately.
As homes keep rising in price, the insurance companies have to cover potential costs in hurricane alley
