Alas, no tickets for the opera but there was Swan Lake with Margot and Rudolf in 1966. Got a special ticket in my uniform and sat next to Princess Margaret in a performance of Swan Lake - it changed my life and developed an extraordinary respect for this art form. I do believe they had a love relationship. Her husband had many affairs before he was shot. Rudolf and Margot had a lot in common both being extraordinary dancers. They danced together as one person. Bless them both as they dance forever.
@@marydore4223 Rudolph was a homosexual. He has said he had sex with only 3 women. Fontaine knew that he would continue that lifestyle even tho he may have loved her. So she used the excuse of caring for her husband after he was shot and paralyzed. If Rudy had been a straight man i think she might have been his lover thruout their lives.
@@elizabethstops1574 I watched a nearly three hour documentary about her on UA-cam and during a rehearsal another female dancer saw Miss Fonteyn whisper something in his hear! She said he became so angry, not at Miss Fonteyn, but at what she had just told him! The dancer said it was later confirmed that she told him she had miscarried his child! The women telling the story seems truthful and I heard that same story somewhere else in another documentary! That would've been one gifted child!
@@cindychristian1700 unfortunately Rudy used to frequent gay baths where he probably caught the HIV virus. Some gay men have sexual relations with women too, but Rudy preferred men. Margot never had children, and if she broke this news to him it wouldn't be in a dance studio with other dancers around to hear.
@@elizabethstops1574 Well she whispered it to him so the other dancer who later confirmed it or no one else heard her! There was no HIV back then, and I know he died from that in the 80's! I'm talking about the late 60's or 70's when they were still dancing together! Why would the lady lie about that in the documentary? What would she have to gain lying about something so serious?! Most people in their circle agree that they had some type of romantic relationship! If it was true what a terrible loss for the both of them because they both said they had wanted children!

And I truly believe that all of this was made possible because these two extraordinary dancers were in love with each other at this time...and for those of you who have experienced being in love can understand how very, very special and meaningful these dancers were conveying this to you....simply natural...LOVE in their lives and came out through their dancing together...never, ever to be rivaled by any others!

Quite agree! Only sad that they went their own ways that ended tragically rather than being together.
