ill never get over the fact that the leper, the man litterally falling apart, is one of the tankiest units in game
Haha he's top 3 in hp and that's a good point about him falling apart.
People with leper don't feel pain. Read about the Saint Lasarus order . The took part in many crusades and were severe and really frightening warriors.
its because of the nerve damage, its less about his REAL health its about how he cant feel pain to the full extent and therefore he can take more pain
@@user-qo7bx2fv2l oh jeez, that's pretty metal.
THIS, This is exactly what I meant when I asked for this kind of thing to have a series on all the areas and the pro's and con's inside knowledge to help bring the best party for each area and eventually each area's bosses. This was a wicked fun watch and precisely the series that is NOT out there much for darkest dungeon fans.
Thank you! The game may be older, but there are certainly areas to keep offering advice to I have not seen as well.
Really like how you covered everything and talked though it both for those with knowledge and those with out .
Thank you! I try to cover most bases but it can be difficult to do in a sub 15 minute video.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming You are truly a nerd that knows his stuff, and has an interest in the game which we all share.
Sorry if the video seems a little choppy. My OBS occasionally does that, and I have been playing around with the bitrate and all of that stuff recently! Thank you for watching,
That Virago/Giant/Crawler comp handed me my first death in many, many Weeks just yesterday; really happy you demonstrated how to put that nightmare in its place...rotting underneath the poisoned undergrowth
It's a really dangerous combo and I am glad I got out alive.
Encountered it yesterday for the first time... Had to run away, my occultist was almost a goner and I couldnt for the life of me land a single hit on the virago. I need to improve my accuracy lol
@@amf1435 The Weald is BRUTAL on Champion levels! I dreaded going for a time.
@@MLBlue30 Viragos are just insane, but I got better. Still, I think about it very hard before going into long missions in Weald
One thing to note is that the fungal clawers are the only enemy in the game that are always guaranteed to hit a marked target if there is one they can reach (in rank 1 or 2), and unlike their normal attack, their attack against marked targets does not apply blight, which means that if you have someone with decent prot in the front line who can mark themself (like man at arms or leper), you can easily tank their damage.
That, or I have had weird situations where my shield breaker got marked and I used her block ability well. However, the MAA and Leper are way more reliable than that situation.
I bring a flagellant with the bleed transfer because it marks him so he gets focused. Flagellant can take the dmg if he has speed bc giant goes last and if flagellant goes first next round he's fine
I discovered your channel by absolute chance, as I was looking for suggestions about the champion Weald, and I gotta say that this video really helped a lot!!
So thank you, you earned a new sub!
Thank you!
Ohhh Squidz... Keep it coming man! This is the good stuff!
Can do!
I've been really getting back into this game lately, with DD2 on the horizon next February! I got baited into attempting a Champion mission in the weald for some trinket greed on the quest reward and got my shit rocked in two fights... now once again (about 50 weeks later) that same trinket (Ancestor's Musket Ball) is available once again on another Champion weald mission... I'm feeling much more confident with my ability to prepare this time thanks to the vid!
Thank you for watching!
Incredible guide, subbed!
Thank you!
Thank you for all these great guides. Definately helping me out a lot with my boodmoon playthrough. You do deserve more subs. You might have covered it already so I'll keep looking. Do you recommend trying to get 1 or 2 of the darkest dungeon runs out of the way earlier so you cna increase your hero roster, or leaving them all to the end game?
There's no consequence in starting early. I usually do them all at once but that's not how it has to be. It's not a bad strategy to maybe do one or two when you are ready but at that point I'm not sure what you are clearing roster space for. The first darkest dungeon is sadly one of the hardest so I often want 0 quirk heroes and the best trinkets.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Thank you for the reply. Just managed to do the first one at day 86 and I was worried I had left everything too late because of the time limit. I've still got a chance it seems!
I'm going to continue binge watching your videos. They are an absolute treat. I'm ready to give some trinkets and skills a go I had previously written off. Might actually be able to kill the shrieker on my second run now!
There are only two real time limits to the game, one for an achievement and the other is in the Stygian run (75 weeks I believe). Thank you for watching and feel free to comment on any video. I will do my best to get back to you in a day or two. Enjoy the game!
I dont know if you are going to see this but thanks for your guides its really helping!
No problem and thank you for watching!
ah yes - the best way to get rabies
Leper is a fine character that has his purpose. Leper hate mostly comes from unthinking sheeps blindly following other sheeps.
I would agree, you just have to be smart with him.
Leper in the cove is a damn monster one-shotting those pesky piranhas
Probably cuz of his speed its god awful (still not crusader bad) but if you're not running leper with jester idk what you doing, still my favorite character in this masterpiece of a game!
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming
I was stupid but lucky, the second I got my first leper, the game became a breeze. But then I found guides and lore for leper and he singlehandedly became my favourite in the whole game
PD surprisngly good here - she have great stuns, clear dots, decrease acc, apply dots, and clear corpses. You just need her herbs with +40% blight chance and tentacle head. Ofc you can go for bleed, but i dont like this skill, imho its too weak. And dont forget about cure disease.
Also arbalest here is perfect. ACC and Crit aoe debuff, wich can be apply to giant sometimes, and clear mark + destealth + stress heal on 1 skill. Leper... Not so much, only good thing he have here - is intimidation and its wont work if he shuffle or push back. I personally prefer to stun giant every over turn.
I have used the plague doctor here before and her control is great. If you give her a stun increase trinket, she can get reliable stuns against 90% stun resistances.
Regarding the arbalest, I can see your point. I often brought her in as damage with a mark build but I was not truly satisfied. The support arbalest would be much better here for the reasons you listed.
Love your vids! One question. Why not use withstand to Mark the Lepper? It buffs him a lot and can be used as a tank.
I can see why that is beneficial for the the mark based creatures in the weald. It is something I do not do as of now, but it is an interesting strategy in the future.
Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Greatest strategy of Champion Weald. Don’t go
Strongly agree!
You make these fights seem easy, which is no mean feat. I've been experimenting with putting a stun trinket on the hellion and a debuff trinket on the occultist. This does seriously reduce the threat, but prolongs the fight. It's fun to watch giants (and other high damage creatures) doing little to no damage, but I'm not sure it's the safest or best way to go overall.
The hellion is a great option for damage or stunning within the weald, because the front row enemies do not have the highest stun resist. Also, if it works for you, I would not say it is wrong. That is what I love about the Darkest Dungeon, many ways to do the same task.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming Yes, I think I should have qualified - I've only started trying it on apprentice and veteran runs. I'm not sure it will be safe on champion as perhaps prolonging a fight is asking for trouble, especially with DoT effects and increased chance of crits. Not sure I'm brave enough to risk it!
Well there's really only one way to test that theory out in champion... Good luck!
I bring arbalest with speed trinkets and flare to weald to clear marked. It's so useful! Especially against the Pig boss
Very true for getting rid of marks!
I will try this, thank you for the info!
Lets goh..
ENEMY:
- Blight > Bleed
- Higher Blight Resistance

You don't need a leper, just bring any setup with a houndmaster (or alternatively a man at arms) in 1st or 2nd position, have him spam guard to whoever he shares the front 2 ranks with and the giant is irrelevent. If you get shuffeled, its a problem... but its a problem with any party and you should always have a couple of movement based abilities.
Thank you for tips and comment!
Vestal-Jester-Highwayman-Hellion(Vox Machina)
Vestal-Jester-Hellion-Hellion(Charging Maddness)
Vestal-Jester-Bounty Hunter-Hellion or another Bounty Hunter
Good stuff, but that leper. I think he’s viable with lights on, but still he forces you to change others to suboptimal things. He’s just a weak champ, who knows maybe you’ll find that op setup with it, but I’ve just got rid of him, tired of his unreliable style. Hit big miss big
Completely agree, and that is why I always address the possibility of a leper derailing a dungeon run with some key misses. I should have brought an accuracy trinket to help counter act his low accuracy.
I will never forget those 3 crits for 23(V), 32(Z), 54(G) in a row from "Crawler-Giant-Virago" team. And after... Crit for 72... It was the third turn.
I will hate this cursed forest for eternity. Glad that there is someone who explains how to deal with giants.
That's such a deadly combo and has caused many death's for me as well.
I agree with your leper decision, my legend leper has 82 max hp
That'll certainly be enough hp for a couple of tree branch hits for sure!
All you need is the heart of the flesh and the martyr's seal, both giving +15%
Tip for the weald, avoid the weald. Your welcome.
Agree on that one!
just tried this comp, lost the houndmaster & 2 good trinkets...
May I ask what killed him? This team should have a couple of heal safes on most of the characters. The Leper should be mostly self efficient and the houndmaster does have a self heal. sometimes people get critically hit into DOT which is a hard one to save from.
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming yeah i didn't use self heal on hm, that's my bad. but the thing that kill him is i use him to guard someone and he's hit multiple times lol, first or 2nd time in champion tho, good learning experience :D
Ah yes, the guard is good if that dodge works correctly, but sometimes we are not so lucky. Good luck and I hope this comp or a variation of this comp works for you in the future!
I was convinced it was pronounced "Weeld" instead of "Weld"
Well the guy says weeld in the game so that's probably right. I can be bad at pronouncing things
@@HiDdeNSQuiDZGaming I wasn't so sure because the narrator's clearly not a native English speaker with his accent (though it sounds pretty cool). What's the difficulty of the level in this vid, 5? Sorry if you mentioned it and I didn't catch it.
