Fun fact, in the comics Bruce DOES own the Daly Planet. He actually bought to secure Clark’s employment there since they’re buddies
W friendship/brotherhood between them I always loved that about their relationship they always stand up for each other.
Batman's brother from another Martha.
no wonder the Daily planet is still in businesss and why Lex cant shut it down
It was rather divisive turning Hush’s identity from Bruce’s childhood friend, to a new persona for the Riddler.
See that’s who I thought it was when I was watching. But then it turning out to be the normally unserious Riddler who is not messing around was interesting.
I think it being Riddler is interesting but the story involves BOTH Thomas AND Riddler. So it coulda worked by making them both Hush like a Ghostface thing
I found it interesting but I always liked Thomas’ story and why he became Hush and it was a nice twist at the end when you found out his motivation
When you're a fan of the source material, even when watching a new movie you know what to expect. In a vacuum the different ending from the comics provided something new.
However, the reason why the decision was divisive is because the OG ending with Thomas revealed as Hush was the better story.
I suppose it's like Arlham Knight: they were expecting the audience to know the twist, which makes an adaptation kinda hard to pull off because the twist doesn't hit the same if we know what it is going in, and they don't want to use the dramatic irony approach, so they try and change it, to give a better chance of us not seing it coming. At least this time the twist is one that could catch you off guard.
Dick became Nightwing when Batman "graduated him", but in reality it was a "I have nothing else to teach yo and you are also a grown ass man so do whatever you want."
I thought he wanted to go solo but Bruce disagreed so Dick left, went to Metropolis, talked with Superman and Supes telling him about the Kryptonian hero "Nightwing" so Dick moved to Bludhaven became Nightwing and then went back to Gotham when he heard about Jason and then patched things up with Bruce
@@EdgarTheOgre Bruce fired Dick because Dick wasn’t as obsessed and dark as Bruce felt he should be. Then after a conversation with Superman, Dick decided to become a solo hero named Nightwing (named after an ancient superhero of Krypton, who was in turn named after a Kryptonian God of Darkness and Night).
To clarify things once and for all and so that you don't get confused if you see other adaptations where Hush and The Riddler appear, only in this movie does the Riddler take the alias of Hush in the comic it is very different since it is The Riddler and Hush working together to kill Batman.
they shouldv'e just adapted it this way instead of trying to trick the fans, just leave it a surprise for people who haven't read the comic.
@@kylebaird7387exactly 💯💯 hopefully we get the real hush in Matt reeves Batman universe that would be cool to see.
@@kylebaird7387 I never read the comic, but when I watched this movie, the Riddler being Hush reveal felt weak and left a bad taste. It's about the only thing that really dragged the movie down for me. Later I found out that this was a twist made only for the movie and it made sense why it didn't really pay out like it should have.
This is better than the comic which I find highly overrated idc what anyone says
Though the writing was on the wall when you notice how in the movie Thomas bleeds real blood. In the comic, that "Thomas" is revealed to be Clayface in disguise.
Selena names her cat Eartha as a reference to Eartha Kitt one of the first to play Catwoman on the screen. So booms Eartha Kitty was more on point then you realize
Note that Damian doesn'ta answer until Batman also says hello to the dog.
Damian initially hates Selina for being so close to his father but eventually bonds with her over their love of animals.
Of all the Superman contingencies I know of, "Throw Lois Lane off a building" has got to be my favourite.
Banes venom has no connection to the Lazarus pit there both just green & Lady Shiva happened to walk in after Batman beat Bane lol. I love this movie jsut seeing Batman & Catwoman be happy but knowing it can’t last & I wasn’t expecting Riddler to be Hush like what 😂so crazy
In comics Thomas the friend was Hush in the comics. Catwoman truly loves Bruce it just never really works out fully except in Earth One I think it was where they marry and have a daughter that becomes a hero too called Huntress.
That is Earth 2 where that happened.
@@shauntempley9757 I think DC don't have a fix name for their alternate universes like Marvel does. Each Universe has a different name in another universe. We literally have Earth One, Earth-1, Earth -1, Earth 1 in the comics each meaning different things.
@@HokageOfGotham There is an Earth-2 It's how DC did it's differing timelines. Google it.
You guys should check the Batman Hush Comic that this movie is based on
That was a BIG comic storyline at the time of publishing I imagine, hyped up to the nines?
I'll never forgive them cutting both Tim and Jason out. With the canon change for the movies, they could have just made Tim Red Robin early.
It has a better ending if you ask me. The riddler wins, by prooving to batman, that he can never trust anyone enough, to be with them.
FUN FACT There was a comic artist that was annoyed about the Batman not eating Catwomans erm cat that they drew it THEN Zack Snyder posted it. Shits pretty funny.
Where can I find it?
yes, where can this be found for research purposes
@@Sapphire_Reacts just look up Batman eating Catwoman
I love his badass moments like the fluidity of his combat and then the moment where bane is rushing him but he stands still and bane is stopped an inch frrom his face. Same with the killer croc scene from the other movie. Also he doesn’t get enough credit for his comedy “don’t call us, we’ll call you”. Also the scene with Damian is so hilarious I’m glad yall got a chuckle out of it. He talks to Bruce as if he’s the dad. “Wear protection” and “cover your drink” was hilarious asf
You'd think after like 5 different properties showing Dick becoming Nightwing, they wouldn't need to ask if he always becomes Nightwing.
I think they were more asking if its always Dick. Like how Robin is not always Dick.
@@justsomebody-1665 yes, but they've seen multiple shows and movies where Dick becomes/is Nightwing. So with that, a little common sense, and possibly a google search they should know that he is always Nightwing.
They are sortha stupid @@sethgibson5148
Dude, when Nightwing trips on the uneven bars seeing Selena come to the Batcave, I busted my funnybone! LOL
Okay, the "Whose Robin these days?" joke made me laugh way harder than I should have.
Love that he noticed the Eartha Kitt reference. For anyone that doesnt know, not only does her name sound like it could be short for kitten, but she also played Catwoman in the 60s Batman tv series. Also she voices Yzma from Emperors New Groove :)
There is a comic about Bruce and Selina's wedding. Selina met Damien and his mother.
Selina and Talia had a "discussion"
It’s so funny seeing them predict multiple times that Tommy would be Hush. Yet this is the one version of that story where it’s not the case. Also, I always found it weird that this film treated Riddler like a C-lister, when he is absolutely an A-list villain.
Look at this continuity so far. Compared to what Batman has faced, Riddler is a C-Lister.
If it was a continuity where things were less hectic, he'd definitely be A-list.
Honestly the whole "twist" with Riddler is totally there *just* for the fans that already knew who Hush is normally in the comics.. despite they could totally write to still cause some doubt..
I mean hes been in the Justice League in this continuity.
In the comics it was Huntress who cut Batman´s line to make him fall. She had dubious justifications for it.
The whole thing about Batman not eating 🐱 comes from the Harley Quinn animated show they were going to have a scene where Batman was eating out Catwoman and DC was like
“No no heroes don’t do that” and made them change it. What I find to be the funniest is Zack Snyder posted a picture from a comic of Batman eating out Catwoman and just put the caption “Canon” 😂😂
Zack Snyder is trash
All they had to say is Batman wouldn't do that. He'd never put himself in a position where he can't see his surroundings.
Or that heroes don't do that because their mask/cowl/helmet might come off.
@@TimedRevolverBruce and Selina are both high level acrobats. He could find a way to give back without comprising his awareness.
Lol I hate that they denied it by making it a part of his character, that he wouldn't do it, instead of just not doing the scene cuz they're worried it's too graphic. Don't ruin the character
@@silverblade357 I'm saying he'd do it as Bruce Wayne gladly.
Batman going to town on Catwoman isn't the pic or video you want circling the net in a DC universe.
...Which raises a weird question: do female heroes and villains have to deal with revenge porn?
You have to see "house of mysteries". Its technically the last one after apokalypse war.
If only Bruce could have let go, he could've had a happy life. Until the writers decide to reset things, because Superheroes can't have happy lives.
Almost up to Apokolips War, I can’t wait!
The ending to Apokolips War will stay with me forever.
I was worried that this movie was gonna be freaking depressing. But I’m glad I was wrong. Finally got the Batman and Catwoman romance I’ve been wanting! I love Catwoman.
Sure they break up in the end but that’s fine, they spent a bunch of time together and Selina was murdered brutally, so I call that a win.
SAME!
What everyone seems to forget is that if he were evil and wanted to, Superman could vaporize Batman from orbit with his heat vision before Bruce could even react. Supes is fast enough to travel is time and can (somewhat) keep up with the Flash. “If he wanted to, we’d be dead already” is the most real thing Batman has ever said. Also, yeah Clark was fighting the Mind Control the whole time, his will is strong enough to be a Green Lantern (which he as been multiple times over the years).
Like how strong can GLs be in the comics? From all adaptations i've seen it just feels like Superman being GL would just be a hindrance to his regular powers or in these versions does he not have his usual strength?
@@kuivia It is usually in addition to his powers because if Krypton hadn’t exploded, Kal-El was destined to become a Green Lantern. Probably why he keeps on ending up with one ring or another.
@@ExMalakite That's actually cool lore I didn't know, thanks :D!
@@kuivia Pretty strong. One example is Parallax Hal Jordan.
Gotham by Gaslight would be a really fun reaction to do
Grayson is always Nightwing except for that time Bruce became nightwing to hide that he was injured

Billy enjoy your reactions very much. Billy is glad to be hear. 😂
Honestly I just want a movie where they play the Riddler stuff straight. No twist gritty villain. No Zodiac killer. No Jim Carrey parody. Just let him do his thing, threaten people, force Batman to come up with an unconventional solution.
The "cover your drink" comment by Damian is even more hilarious because he's referencing the fact that Talia spiked Bruce's drink, and resulted in Damian being conceived while Bruce was... vulnerable... bro was poking fun at how he himself was conceived.
19:20 I love how writers get amnesia whenever it comes to Superman 😂 They instantly forget that bro is highly resistant if not almost immune to mind control thanks to his "Theta State" they either forget that or purposefully write him as a tool 😂
Or they choose not to implement that ability in their version of him. I don't remember the DCAMU Superman exhibiting any resistance to mind control, do you? Even so, Green Kryptonite, while lethal, has been shown to make Superman vulnerable where he otherwise wouldn't be when used in smaller, non-lethal doses in many versions of the comics and movies. I can buy using it with Ivys' mind control could work.
Kryptonite
"other set of DC stuff" would love Static Shock ngl
That and Batman beyond if they ever go thru the old Batman series and return of the joker
This was Batman and Joker's first time together after Under The Red Hood that we see.
This is a different timeline though, right? I thought Jason Todd and Tim Drake weren't a thing in the post Flashpoint Paradox timeline. At least until it all gets reset again.
Superman/batman : public enemies and apocalypse
Get to see Superman not hold back
I like this movie but when I read the comic, I dislike it as an adaptation. It’s very loosely based. The Riddler is not even Hush. Though, I love that scene with Damian 😂.
The idea of the one person Bruce could be with and still continue to be Batman, but they can't be together, is beyond heartbreaking
The writers knew true that would remember who Hush was, so they just mislead us into thinking it was still the case just to surprise with this random twist of who Hush really is in this movie.
Bros, here’s a list of Batman content I believe is worthwhile: Batman Mask of the Phantasm, The Batman vs Dracula, Batman Mystery of the Batwoman, Batman Beyond Return of the Joker and Batman Beyond(series)🫡
Dracula, Phantasm, and return of the joker would be so good to see
The thing I disliked most about this film was that they kept referring to Riddler as a C lister which he has never been and overall while the original Hush story was a little messy at least Riddler was very competent in it in terms of strategy.
Eh, he's never been truly top tier and I've seen many comics where he is pretty forgettably unimpressive. B is as high as I'd place him, but I wouldn't argue with calling him a c-lister myself.
@mentaya11 Don't recall asking you, nor am I going to.
@@The_Phantasm Fortunately, that matters little to me. You made a public post on a public forum stating your views. I did the same. Not sure why you're sore at me, no cause for rudeness. If you don't like dissenting views, I'd steer clear of social media. People don't typically wait for you to ask their opinion before posting. Just a tip.
We finally got Bruce and Selina just for it to end badly.
Dick Grayson is the first Robin and He always becomes Nightwing After.
Jason Todd is the Second Robin most of the time and He always becomes the Second Red Hood. (The first red hood of note is almost always the "comedian" aka the Joker. Sometimes the first red hood is some loser that was duped to be that role by the Red hood gang.)
Tim Drake is usually Next and becomes Red Robin after.
Stephanie brown is sometimes the first female robin but becomes Spoiler after. (Her name is spoiler its not actually a spoiler to tell you that.)
Carrie Kelly is a female robin also but most of the time in the Dark Knight Spin off comics / movie tie in
Damian Wayne Is the son of Bruce (Sometimes he is a planned addition and sometimes not.) He is the kill happy kid robin
Duke Thomas is the first Black kid to take up the mantle but its rare to see him in media as robin. In the Comics he goes by Signal.
Technically, there were a ton of Red Hoods. It was an anonymous throwaway mantle that criminals would use.
@@Syntherus true, I have seen is that the red hood gang would make their leader the main red hood in order to have a fall guy and get the cops to leave them alone. Its honestly my favorite explanation I've ever seen.
Stephanie was Spoiler first. Then became Robin after
@@chrismanning2888and batgirl
See, since the Riddler went through the Lazarus pit, is it *really* against his code to kill him? I feel like he could have let Selina off the hook for that one. It's not really killing, per se, its more like returning some stolen life. And Batman is all about returning stolen property.
Maybe Nightwing and Alfred should just hold him down and give him one of his amnesia pills, get rid of the last day of his memory. "Bruce you're too stubborn to forgive Selina for saving your life, you were happy! Now hold still and take the pill!"
Regarding the robins
Dick Grayson becomes Nightwing
Jason Todd becomes Red Hood (And Red X in Teen Titans if you believe that theory)
I don't know much about Tim Drake, but I believe he becomes Red Robin
Damian so far has only been Robin.
Grayson becomes Nightwing
Todd becomes red Hood after being revived from death (the Red X theory makes zero sense)
Drake does become Red Robin (After a bunch of worse names)
Stephanie brown went from Spoiler, to Robin, to Batgirl
Damian Wayne is the current Robin, but there are rumours that DC want a new one
Jarro is another Robin, but that's a whole thing
@@MrGBH I forgot there was a female Robin once.
Dick’s mantles: Robin, Nightwing, Batman, Agent Grayson.
Im sure there are more but those are the ones i know, i also know Bruce also become NightWing a couple of times more recently.
Batman never says no to romance to catwoman
In the comics, Elliot is the real Hush. This movie changed it to subvert expectations.
On a side note, while Batman and Catwoman do occasionally end up together in the comics, in many here they don't it's because if Batman gets to stay with Catwman, he'll finally be happy, and he can't be Batman and not be angry. The movie Mask Of The Phantasm touched upon this with Andrea
I hope that they start watching 'Batman: The Brave and the Bold' at some point. Some of my favorite DC moments come from it's episodes.
I would love to see their reactions to the insanity of Silver Age Batman in that show plus their reactions to obscure characters
34:48 if you think Nightwing wouldn’t be afraid of the toxin it’s because it makes you afraid regardless of how strong you are.
0:55 Dick becomes Nightwing after years of being Robin, he "sorta" wanted his own legacy; Getting out of Batman's shadow and becoming his own man, his own Superhero.
He at some point left Gotham and started operating in Bludhaven which is equally worse. Had a new set of rogues and everything. In current Comics he's Bludhaven's protector. Leader of Titans (not Teen Titans) AND he led the Justice League temporarily, dude got massive promotion lately lol.
- Yes Dick is always Nightwing, the only time he wasn't is in the Injustice games where Damian took the mantle
- The green juice Bane uses is a drug called Venom, it increases his strength but can also cloud his mind if he uses too much of it
- Thomas Elliot is in fact Hush normally, this movie changed it to Riddler for shock value. Riddler using the lazerus pit to heal his cancer was just a side plot during it
- If you're wondering Elliot's motive in the comics is...kinda dumb IMO. (Or Sorta Stupid if you prefer) basically he was jealous that Bruce got his inheritance as a kid from his parents dying since Elliot tried to kill his own parents but Batman's dad saved their lives.
Oh that reminds me, you guys have got to watch Gotham by Gaslight, 1800s Batman, I freaking loved it. It has Selina Kyle a lot too.
Also the doom that came to gotham. It's kinda a sequel. Not totally sure, but it's maybe a few yrs later.
@@fireeaglefitnessmartialart935 Oh my gosh… thank you so much! I either have never seen it or only heard the name and nothing else, yessssss! Let’s go!
@EpicRandomness555 I like to buy the hard copies when I see/find these dc animated films. Not all of them, but a lot of them. It's pretty good too.
I was so hyped when they announced this movie, Hush is my favorite Batvillain. Bummed when it was revealed it was Nygma behind the mask, but until that moment I was digging how faithful this movis was to the source material
This was the best dcamu movie in my opinion
Fun fact: Bruce and Thomas Elliot's fathers were best friends who named their kids after each other.
In the comics, Bruce Wayne ACTUALLY owns the Daily planet. Lois and Clark are employees of the month.
Riddler was the villain lot of people made fun of but when he went off to bother Flash or when he was a private Detective he was both successful and a good character. but of course they have to have him revert to crazy person and prove he is more capable than Batman.
Recently there's been a famous Batman Comic that has a entire panel showing Batman eating Selina out
Just so everyone knows Hush is actually Thomas Elliot in the comics. They made Riddler Hush in this movie, idk why but in the comics its Thomas.
Strongly recommend to also see bat man the long halloween
"If a bat and a cat mated, what would it create?"
Pretty sure Monster Hunter has that one covered
Traditionally Thomas elliot is hush, but they clearly understood everyone knew that going in, so they made it riddler instead
One of the weaker Batman animated films in my opinion, the changes they made were just unneeded: Riddler as Hush, the removal of Catwoman in the scene where Batman nearly kills Joker, Damian's cameo, and everything involving Jason getting removed just didn't need to happen. Unlike the Dark Knight Returns where it's a mostly faithful adaption of the comic in it's own separate universe, Hush was pretty much unnecessarily shoved into the dc animated universe and as a result didn't get to stand on his own.
I hate DC logic sometimes, Batman is one of the best fighters and he needs Catwoman to save him and he gets hit easily and by someone who doesn't even know how to fight and also Nightwing who is almost on Batman's level stupidly falls and needs help they want to push Catwoman to help others and for no reason, yes they can make others help but make it a little believable atleast.
29:32 funny you should say that there’s a comic where Alfred becomes Batman’s villain gallery to keep him busy
If I remember correctly Alfred dug out his old Outsider alias from his own vigilante days for that one
Doing the math, assuming it’s in hundreds, you could easily fit a million dollars in a duffel bag.
Grayson is usually Nightwing, yes, although sometimes other people may work in his place temporarily for reasons
Usually if Batman tells Alfred to load the jewelry he's referring to the kryptonite weapons
Name should be called Tazerface now.
Lol
It's always so good to hear Avatar Roku as Alfred lol
Ah lady shiva, mother of Dc’s most badass character 🔥 ❤
That Daffy opening was so unhinged hahaha
No, the green juice Bane has is Venom, its what makes him so big and strong
29:36 she be like: oh if Bruce Wayne is Batman then I ain’t gotta steal money anymore bc he’s filthy stinkin rich😂
29:00 I mean there is a comic where Alfred turned out to be the joker the entire time.
Thinking he was doing Bruce some good giving him a villain that could actually challenge him.
DC has a lot of strange joker mashups over the years
Martha Wayne as the Joker
Alfred as the joker
Hell even Dick Grayson becomes the second incarnation of the joker in the dark knight timeline.
The og dark knight timeline is much darker than the live action films
Messed up thing is, Hush is his doctor friend in the comics.
I hate the fact that Batman's no killing code includes always saving villains because whoever made that part of the code clearly doesn't understand that just because you don't save a villain or a criminal that doesn't make you a killer or less of a hero.
Crisis on infinite earth, parts, one through three ties all of these movies together
37:15 No, your hunch is actually right it WAS Elliott in the original comics. That's also a big reason why this movie was so divisive. Fans hated how they switched Elliot with Edward and killed the whole purpose of the character that is Hush. It was so lazy and unfaithful.
Lady Shiva is the only human who can beat Batman in one on one combat consistently.
I agree it's a good idea to finish Young Justice then return to the movies and act like the rest are their "Multiverse arc". Movies like TDKR, Gotham By Gaslight, Batman vs Dracula, Batman Ninja, Deathstroke, JL Gods And Monsters, JL vs Fatal Five, and the newer works better in that framework
I'm personally not mad at the change as such but it leaves non comic readers with the wrong impression. And the reason Thomas works so great as Hush is because of how Thomas motivations are set up. The fact that Thomas on earth 3 is Bruce's brother and was successful in his plot to be the sole heir of his family's fortune. Becoming Owlman. It's like the multiverse itself tries to correct for missing pieces of key events.
Did they Batman Gotham by Gaslight, Superman/ Batman: public enemy
Thinking about it, I think this is my favorite DC movie period. Not DCAMU movie, not DC animated movie, but out of all DC movies this is just my favorite. There's such good chemistry between Bruce and Selena, it's just so damn heart breaking that Bruce can't let himself be with her. I want to see the universe where they end up together and she's a permanent part of the Bat Family. The only downside is there's one character in the Bat family in this movie, who we don't see again in the DCAMU (two technically if you're going by extended bat family from comics n stuff) in the DCAMU, and they're one of my favorites.
I forgot why I and so many others didnt like this movie. Completely forgot they swapped the Hush from Elliott to Riddler. I think if this was an original concept then it works but the fact that it's an adaptation of a MUCH better story as originally told makes it hard for those who know the comic to get on board with this. Glad you guys without the baggage were able to enjoy it though.
Hush was good. And I believe the makers made him the Riddler on purpose to throw the fans off because following the original story would have been too predictable. Even those who had never read the book would have seen it coming a mile away just like you guys. So this was a nice twist for the film. Thumbs up 👍🏾
Yes, Dick Greyson is the only Robin to become Nightwing.
Jason Todd is the only Robin to become Red Hood.
Tim Drake is the only Robin to become Red Robin. (I barely know this one, but I was reminded of him thanks to playing Arkham Knight).
Damian Wayne is the only Robin to still be Robin as far as I know out of the core Robins.
This is a least for the main timeline as I know it.
I did do a wiki search and there is a Stephanie Brown who was not only Robin but also the 5th Batgirl and then becomes Spoiler, no that is literally her hero name. Apparently she is a part of the main timeline, but I have never seen her in any tv shows or movies so she may have been dropped.
Also there is the Robin, Carrie Kelly, from the future timeline where Joker snaps his own neck in the Love tunnel and Old Man Batman fights Superman. As far as I know this is the only time she is ever shown as Robin.
20:40 Damian waiting to respond until Bruce addresses the Dog (Titus) as well was strangely wholesome. Damian loves his four legged buddy.
It's also super wholesome and hilarious how the son is giving the dad the talk about using protection and being careful with his drink.

DICK IS ALWAYS NIGHTWING
Ps: I mean The idea of Bruce going to town on Selina’s “selina” isn’t something I don’t care for but I believe he does, let’s be fair…is Selina and their always in a deep relationship a lot of the times 😅
Right so the Hush movie is a bit of an attempt to adapt but also surprise. Those who know the comics know that Thomas 'Tommy' Elliot is Hush, as you expected and we expected to see in the movie; the Elliots were rich people but they didn't come from money, thus they tried hard to keep it which led to Thomas feeling neglected by his mother while also being abused by his father. Already a genius and a friend to Bruce, Thomas orchestrated his parents' deaths by cutting the brakes on his car, but the outcome only killed his father which meant his attempt to inherit their fortune failed, his mother was saved by Thomas Wayne which thus soured his friendship with Bruce - and further when the Waynes died and Bruce inherited their fortune like he was planning with his parents. He'd eventually kill off his mother before word of her cutting him off came out and changed her will to get said money, he became a successful surgeon but then turned supervillain when Riddler's lazarus pit experience made him realise Bruce was Batman and decided to sell the information to the highest bidder. He has a little history with Scarecrow too.
Dick is the de facto Nightwing, but others have taken the mantle when he's been absent - including fairly recently Bruce. Jason Todd (Red Hood) once did it for the lolz.
No the green stuff is 'Venom', a toxin that Bane uses to roid himself out, Ivy just enhanced it here, then took over Superman. Her kiss also put Catwoman under her control.
Eartha is a reference to Eartha Kitt, she played Catwoman for a bit in the Adam West tv Batman.
Can you guys please up the volume of the content a little bit, I need to turn up my volume to hear the movie (I have watched it already) butr then you guys are so loud. Still love the DC reactions!
