    "this is not concert music" what a genius. i don't think anyone else has come close to such pure dedication to music.
    thanks

    In addition to admiring Partch, I like the tone & style of this old documentary I love how it begins showing those 50's people playing stick ball & then it shows Harry Partch with his pipe looking out @ the neighborhood while the creative,rhythmic music plays! Partchs music makes my mouth water & somehow brings more value & feeling to sounds,after listening to him if I play guitar I can feel the music more powerfully, It makes me respect the simple thud of my hand on the wood of the guitar

    @8anvils Still is. Most people who were ahead of their time in the 19-20th centuries still are today.

    @TouchingYou wow that dax thingy does sounds interesting, still it uses a contact microphone so in a way it's part of the big expansion of sound that happened around the turn of last century, amplification and is therefore electronic.
    Thanks for the info anyway i love weird instruments and had never heard of that thing before.
    PS: Dylan is a legened

    It is a shame that we Americans do not honor our truly great, innovative artists like Partch more. Of course, unless you have his idiosyncratic instruments, you can't perform his music.

    @piano12161770 John Cage was overrated and seemed to be interested in making statements rather than music. Partch and Nancarrow really did find something original that will last with time.

    @TouchingYou real instruments have been with us for too long to really find anything that unique, computers are probabally our best bet for somthing crazy now, being spoiled by modern technology has probabally desensitized us to how different these instruments would have sounded when partch was playing with them

    john cage is very well-known, though. partch gets even less credit than ives, and of the three mavericks he (partch) is, for me, the most important (though cage gets points for most playful, i suppose, and ives for strongest actual musical output).

  • @LatchezarDimitrov

    First (in my opinion) it isn't music at all! Then you waste your time with this...But if you feel that to be the most important to do for you,ok! Effects in the true music are usefull also ;-)

    • @LatchezarDimitrov
      @LatchezarDimitrov 9 років тому +1

      ***** Sorry I don't said TRUE music... Also nobody share pure octave in the world :-)
      And maybe Harry Partch is interesting for you, but not for me! All microtonal music is enormous waste of time for the composers and for the audititors...

    • @LatchezarDimitrov
      @LatchezarDimitrov 9 років тому

      ***** Yes, there is a true music and no noise effects instead. I don't think that this is useless, you can ever use it for the movies of horror... No, it is too easy to deforme my proposes-the true music is so rich than it will be never end of variety! The popularity of microtonal music say enought about her utility...

    • @LatchezarDimitrov
      @LatchezarDimitrov 9 років тому +1

      Nothing to do if you don't want to compare microtonal music with classical music in popularity. And more one time you choose the easy way to talking about techno, rock or trance music...Why not about jazz? All of these music styll have place because they don't use microtonal temperament! It is so simple,non?

    • @LatchezarDimitrov
      @LatchezarDimitrov 9 років тому +1

      ***** Should stop? Not at all! Only microtonal noise,please ;-) Ok, no joke-I'm curious to know what is your "tone painting" music wich is better than the classic one? Any link,please?

    • @LatchezarDimitrov
      @LatchezarDimitrov 9 років тому +1

    • @kaliyuga4312
      @kaliyuga4312 5 років тому +1

      Why don't you recommend some good music to us "specials", then? Does it freak you out when you hear music that doesn't have a chorus? Unnerving to hear something that uses more than the 4 familiar chords you've been conditioned to recognise as comfortable?
      You're an idiot.
