During my first trip as a kid to the Grand Canyon, my father took the family to the observatory one night. That night Jupiter was the focus and got to see it through the telescope. Same trip I first saw the Milky Way with the naked eye during night drive in AZ. While my training is as a historian, Lowell and the people past and present that ran it sparked astronomy as my favorite field of science. Hope to bring my own kids there someday.
