  • How to make this simple scrap wood dolly will save you back. It makes moving large sheets of plywood and heavy doors extremely easy. Carrying plywood is hard and without this dolly you could hurt yourself. Be safe anytime you must lift heavy plywood

    I was thinking of a way to move solid core doors lately. Being a jack of most trades. I work by myself all the time and I'm always thinking of ways to make my work go more smoothly. I carried a 36'x80' solid core door yesterday down a long hallway on a commercial job and i'm feeling it today in my back and legs. This would have worked great if I had it. Most doors I work with are 1"3/4 thick. . I'd build it to 2"1/2 wide though.. Heading to Home Depot. Thank you for this video.

    I made one with stroller wheels that I found inside of a dumpster. I work in a big warehouse and it gets too cloudy, and I can't use the pallet jack to move pallets in tight spots. Now I carry all my pallets from one place to another.

    You're a damn genius. Thanks for this. Great for people getting older, those with back problems, and women in trades like myself, whose smaller stature makes for an awkward time carrying plywood, drywall and heavy doors. I'm going to make a bunch and give em to friends!

      Thank you very much. The older I get the more I have to get creativity to make it so that I can continue to do this work.

    I saw another review that suggested sticking a magnet by that bottom pulley wheel to reduce the metal fillings floating around the shop - good idea, huh! Best wishes using your new tool.

    I've been watching your videos for quite some time. Your simplistic but effective methods, not to mention your great teaching style, allowed me to build a few projects including a new vanity. The dolly is a great idea and I also saw your updated version. Very creative. You mentioned that you happened to have two wheels you used along with a 1/2" rod. Was the bore hub of the wheels also 1/2" or 5/8"? Thanks in advance.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  Рік тому

      The hole on the wheel was 1/2”. Thanks for watching

      Thanks for the comments. This little dolly works great and I use it all the time. Look at the video that I did where I modified it to hold plywood and doors easier. This is so simple yet so useful in the shop.

    Can it be added a system that will elevate the door or opposite, when installing the door? That would be a super dupper masterpiece.

    The idea is good....but I have a small doubt, what happens in the scenario in which we have to move the plywood in slope conditions???
    Is there any way to arrest it's motion from slipping of the DIY tool!!???

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  5 років тому

      All you would need to do is to add a wedge in the dolly if that is a concern. Thank you for you comments.

    How would you attach the wheels if the dolly was metal?

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  4 роки тому

      Drill and tap the holes. Then just screw the wheels on with a metal strap.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  5 років тому +1

      It's 3.5 Inches wide. Therefore, four sheets can fit. The weight is fine. Thanks for the question.

    Those little caps you used have fallen off of pretty much everything I have ever bought that used them. I would have threaded the ends of the rod and put a couple nuts on each side.

    Use gloves while grinding? Clamp wood before drilling wood at the drill press.

    • @PawPawsWorkShop
      @PawPawsWorkShop  4 роки тому

      Thank you for your input. When doing this type of grinding, I do not use gloves. Depending on the project and the size will determine if I need to clamp down the piece before drilling. Thank you for your comments.
