Thank you Paulo that’s very kind of you. I will be making more videos shortly to cover all the aspects of the knowledge as well as some conversational and topical material.
Thank u because of how simple u explain the process I am motivated to start the knowledge listening to others made me feel like it was impossible to do the knowledge thanks 🙏
Dean Love the videos We could have so many new drivers out there now and it’s all because they have not taken the school route I feel that if the examiners don’t do something soon we will end up in the scrap yard let’s look at. The last 10 years. How many people passed out and how many just throw the towel in because of guidance so let say we got them back on track I’m guessing over the 10 years 6000 dropped out could be a lot more but is we got half of them back on track but they needed to take a school route I think the Knolwedge would be in a better place keep up the good advice 👍
Well this is a bit different to meeting you at certain operating times only in Portia Way! One book. Still done it in under 2.5 yrs, and that’s 20 yrs this month exactly.
It sure is Greig those were great days however. People today do not know that in fact it was harder during your era and the standard was higher. They are still great and since the reduction of how redlining works has made it more palatable for people. Thank you for posting Best Wishes Dean
Hi Dean, I remember these tips from you around 2005 / 2006, then I got out in 2007. Glad your doing ok, you probably don’t remember me but when I got out I gave you as a gift “ gleaming the cube “ a skateboarding movie on dvd !!! Those where the days, taxi trade been booming the last 8 months, I can’t believe only 1,000 people on the knowledge. Take care. Ian
Hi Petar In all honesty not much changes. The advantage you get full time is more to do with extra rest space. Most people fulltime over study wastefully and under rest anyway. Once the bluebook is complete, your main focus, that should never be neglected and should be done with as much volume as possible Is point to point. Calling some bluebook every day for 30 minutes or an hour is important to maintain vocabulary and fluency. Building points repertoire, do as and when you can, but can be neglected as can every other aspect of the knowledge. Most important is calling some bluebook every day and doing point to point. This alone will get you through Best Wishes Dean
As been a cabbie in Eindhoven the Netherlands for about 10 years, I was taught to remembering the neighborhoods, for in the Netherlands, they have "a theme", e.g. names of scientist, royals, etc.. thus when someone says a street name, you directly know which part of town you're going.. that's at least 75% of knowing which roads you have to take . Therefore, to me at least, is this too in London?
Makes a lot of sense but no not in London. The key thing with London is spelling over pronunciation. The rich areas liked to include lots of silent letters. If you pronounced the silent letter they knew you were either not educated well or not from the area. Example Grosvenor the S is silent and Beauchamp which is pronounced Beecham.
Hi. Just a quick question please Dean . In your other video I watched. I’m sure you said. Learn all the blue book runs first. But here your saying do some point to point revision. Should we be learning the blue book routes at the same time as the points. Or just do the blue book runs first ? Also. What are the point to point runs. I’m guessing it’s asking a run from a specific building. To a road. Or another building. Is that right ?
Hi Jimmy You must do all the runs first, Doing point to point is not about learning points its about practising theoretical runs. You can do that by just choosing any two points you already know and attempt to calculate the route. By doing runs you will acquire an amount of points by nature and you will also have places that exist in your repertoire before you even began the knowledge. Hope that answers your question . Best Wishes Dean
Hi Dean, After watching the video, is that before/while completing the blue books or is it once you've done the 320 runs? I was told not to do point to point etc until all 320 runs have been done? I also had the impression bike work was most vital, which is least important in the video. If you could help me out a bit that would be good. Thanks
Doing point to point as early as possible is a good idea, but after bluebook is completed however it becomes seriously important. At that stage bike work is purely to collect more points and check any questions you may have about legal turnings. As i state in the video never do bike work instead of point to point. If you have limited time available then do point to point with that time. Call some bluebook everyday and revise points. If you have time left over then go out on the bike.

2 Questions; 1. I’ve picked up all my material from you at Wizann. How comes you don’t recommend calling/penning missing pieces, bankers and directional runs within a study plan? I find Mr Thomas’ old lines very helpful for directions, especially his 21 material. 2. You mention that studying long lists of points can be counter productive. I agree and tend to study my sticky points more often. However, how can you develop a sticky list without calling your already-pointed points? Regards.
Hi ParkerJ11 Thank you for the excellent questions Points are called and revised each day when the point sheet comes in; they are also revised from your most recent bikes lists. Revise as many of the most recent bike lists as you can with the allocated revision time you have set yourself. On top of that revise sticky lists. Penning runs from books is a complete waste of time as doing point to point with a partner is so vastly superior to penning pre written runs. You as an individual must always do what you think helps you most, so if you find it helpful to pen those runs then you must do so. However it would be misplaced work and far less valuable to you than had you done more point to point with that time. Calling Bankers, missing pieces and other runs is fine. However again people generally over emphasise that aspect and under appreciate the point to point aspect. They also stress and struggle to find time to do it, which creates unnecessary problems. These runs are also not meant to become part of your callover regime but more to be looked at, briefly learnt and called for a small period of time then used as reference. The true skill you are trying to cultivate is your ability to answer to a moderate to high standard any random question. This always brings you back to the main issue on point to point which is volume. If you are doing anything that reduces the volume of point to point you could do then it’s a negative event. One other aspect I place importance upon is resting. If you have created an impossible study regime that does not consider rest time then once again it will have negative effects to your overall standard. I hope that goes someway to explaining the points you raised Best Wishes Dean
I’m starting the knowledge very soon . Timescale of driving and calling the books everyday seems doable, don’t think I got 3 hour’s everyday to do points though !! Will this be a problem ?
Hi Ricky In the beginning its all about collecting and reciting information. Being good at calling your bluebook runs is going to be the foundation. When you say 3 hours points I think you mean point to point? When all is said and done Point to point is the absolute substance of the knowledge. So if you did nothing else, point to point would be the one thing that could still get you through. Finding and learning more and more points is not as important as many people may think. If you have a foundation of 3000 points you can slowly build on that and it should be enough. So if you have to neglect any aspects of the Knowledge the one part that can never be neglected and should be done to the highest volume you can withstand is Point to Point. Best Wishes Dean
Hi Alan, we will be announcing date and time of next Introduction to Knowledge Class shortly, the place to find our classes and to book is here: www.wizann.co.uk/special-classes or email dean@wizann.co.uk We hope to see you soon
I know, I find it quite amusing but is actually part of the problem in our industry. What I would like to see is the video they make showing how things should really be done. Thank you Tomas for your feedback Best Wishes Dean
Hi That question is as old as the hills and is always asked but impossible to answer. It really is something that you must answer yourself, from your own perspective. Are you happy in your current job? do you like working for someone else? Do you think taxis will no longer be needed? How much money is enough for you? I cant know the answers to these questions but i can say if I had to make the decision for myself to do the Knolwedge now, then I would absolutey still do it. Best Wishes Dean
Thank you very much Dean. You have created a legacy which will benefit lot of people even long after you have gone .
I wish you all the best.
I hope so too, Thank you Sayeed
