Watching every one of your vid makes me want to try all those moves.. and crap , i messed up big time.. lol.. Good vid I mean , AWESOME vid man.. Keep up your work~!!
I think Iko Uwais is definitely talented and a fresh new talent to martial art films. Reviews of his new one 'The Raid' point to the fact that it's voted to be the heaviest action flicks of recent times.
Silat's really good, especially the weapons applications, but from what I've seen it does take a while to learn the basic movements and apply the techniques. Unfortunately, I'm a little too old to start it. I need a martial art that I can execute from a normal standing position and some of those sweeps that look like break-dancing are beyond me now.
@Wilsodian Jumping and flip-kicks make for pretty choreography, but how practical are they in an actual fight? The style is only as effective as the master using it.
very nice videos man but i think there is one more martial artist though he is really underrated hes silvio simac.he showed his skills in movies like undisputed 2 vs boyka and wht abt lateef crowder the capoeira guy in tom yum goong vs tony jaa
Yeh i totally agree with that bcuz evry1 develops their own style nd Iko Uwais has got a briliant 1 and even if it is similar to tony jaa's thats no bad thing bcuz hes a gr8 martial artist/stuntman aswell
@fakirakos try to browse this : `Maul Mornie` and `buaya` put this word on the youtube browser then after you watch it, I hope you can think if silat is deadly or not...cheers ^^
@Wilsodian i dont really get the ideas why we need to jump and do flip kick in a fight... (doing those flashy stuff only wear u out before the fight end and obviously, it ends with u kissing the ground)
@fakirakos its an indonesion martial art very old i mean every martial art will have its OMG THAT LOOKS COOL bits but everything will have bits and pieces that actually work but older martial arts are generally obsolete
A lot of people (wrongly) judging Silat is not deadly enough after watching Merantau. They apparently don't realize that it's because of Iko's character and the story itself. Yuda (Iko) is a caring and simple boy, not a killing machine. So making him killing people every time he throw punches will pretty much ruin the story . Iko's newest film; "THE RAID" however, is the proper (and better) gallery of Silat takedowns. Trailers available now on UA-cam... Watch It.
@fakirakos Raw Silat is first and foremost a combat art. It was using as a way none other than to kill & it's honed through thousand of years of Indonesia's bloody history. The only rule in Silat is; kill the opponent before they kill U. Later, they take everything deadly from Silat to create new form called "Silat Sport" for it to be able to compete in Olympic games. I'm not saying Silat is the deadliest or the best MA, but if you ask if it's deadly?.. then the answer is yes.. A BIG YES!!!
@fakirakos alex definitely is right but silat has in comparison to other martial arts, especially western ones, much more techniques for killing. in some variations of silat ( for example melayu) they even learn the usage of kris drunk in poison, you can say that silat is made for killing and not for fighting. the main kicks target either the throat (side kick) or the soda plexus(front kick).
@dhtjlghks Of course he is slow. The martial arts is West Sumatran style while Iko's style is Jakartanese, so the style he shown this was not his expertise. That's why I want to see THE RAID because in that movie, he became the coreographer himself, using the move he was really expert.
I don't think he meant you have to have a small stature, he meant you needed strength, speed and co-ordination, so a big guy can learn it just as well. Hell, Sammo Hung is a pretty big guy but he's still a very skilled martial artist.
Actually, silat is deadly, but because Yuda or Iko were paying attention there, he didn't kill Retger and Luke's men (sorry if it's a typo). It's a different story, in the films The Raid 1 - 2, it looks like pencak silat is deadly Jadi silit itu mematikan ygy
Si se fijaron pega con la parte de abajo de la palma de la mano. Yo siempre pensé que se pegaba a puño cerrado, pero mi instructor de krav maga me dijo que si pego a puño cerrado me puedo romper los nudillos.
lol, I love how you broke down the movie in a couple of minutes. (minus her thieving little brother, rape and other f'd up crap that happened in this gem) Great job, but how about stuff like a kim won-jin collection (operation scorpio, etc) or yuen biao or early sammo hung?!??! great job on these vids!
Yeah, fwesfrfsf was right.. But it would be very difficult to know all of the sub-style of Silat, even for me. It has more than 200 sub-style right here in Indonesia nowadays, and it's still growing up.
i wait for your new vid about Heroes Martial Art - Iko Uwais (Silat, The Raid Redemption) that will hard to edit tho, because the movie is full with awesomeness action :) i dont mind with the duration cheer ^_^
Yeah that's what i am talking about probably Lateef will lose again cuz of the fact that he is a godlike capoeirista but in movies he always loses and still it will be epic
Obviously you know so little about silat. Each martial art styles are unique and great on their own respect. Yayan Ruhian and Iko Uwais are both two of the best silat athletes in Indonesia, and they've been doing it for 20-30 years. The world just didn't know about them yet until they played in a movie. If you want to see if someone is really good in martial art or not. See how they perform it in real live, not only in movies. Look up for silat demo/competition on You Tube, you'll be surprised.
@alpinseven dude, it's not about whether Silat is better than Muay Thai or not. I don't wanna talk about the historical past because past is past, but if Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais would made appearance in one movie, I would rather have them as partner as those two guys are my heroes from two different discipline. Those two are World's pride, not only each respective country's pride.
true. the legendary Ip Man once said, "It is not the style, but the one who wields it."
Watching every one of your vid makes me want to try all those moves.. and crap , i messed up big time.. lol..
Good vid I mean , AWESOME vid man.. Keep up your work~!!
Great video. Should do one with his most recent films - The Raid:Redemption and The Raid 2.

Silat é uma arte marcial incrível.
Silat's really good, especially the weapons applications, but from what I've seen it does take a while to learn the basic movements and apply the techniques. Unfortunately, I'm a little too old to start it. I need a martial art that I can execute from a normal standing position and some of those sweeps that look like break-dancing are beyond me now.

i believe Silat was a fighting style that was used by Baraka in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance or Deception
mayb both
@fakirakos I think what you mean is if they train with deadly weapons and yes they do.
hmm, i've never heard of this style. Seems like a mixture of muay thai, and various forms of shaolin. Either way it seems really unique
question...is silat as deadly as they say it is??? ive heard a lot about it but couldnt find that much about it...
Was watching this thinking the dude reminded me of the main character from The Raid. Funny :P
Silat is one of Baraka fighting styles in Deception...... BARAKA CAN DO THIS LET THAT SINK IN
i thoght baraka were evil, are they evil?
@@desonoranter5419 Yes.

want to see this guy vs Lateef Crowder it will be awesome

Silat vs Capoeira
Yeah that's what i am talking about probably Lateef will lose again cuz of the fact that he is a godlike capoeirista but in movies he always loses and still it will be epic
Todor Sandov yaa
would any of u happen to know of any other films made since the 90s as filed with fight scenes as this?
+Jay Girgis Raid 1 and raid 2? same guy. iko uwais.
@fakirakos in my opinion every kind of martial arts will be deadly if it will be in real master's hands :)
@AlexAFKolodochka true....cant disagree with that one...but there are some that aim to kill more than others
See The Raid Redemption to see how fucking awesome Silat is man
i just know that SILAT is also a good martial art.

@wimpythenoob no problems m8 but it really annoys me wen people mix up the styles of martial arts but they are quite similar in places
@fakirakos it'll be deadly if its in the right hand. no need to be a master, you still can if you fight for a utmost justice!
Pengen belajar silattt
