- This is My Favorite Moment From Great Movie "Cape Fear" , in this moment there is 1 of My Favorite Quote , Where De Niro is saying : "I am like God, and God like me. I am as large as God, He is as small as I. He cannot above me, nor I beneath Him be. Selatius, 17th Century. "
De Niro's creepiest and most badass role ever.
I thought he acted stupid unlike the original it isnt realistic at all
@suny123boy1 he is right i like de niro but he over acted in this. mitchum was brooding but restrained, dark and menacing. Way better in the original ...

Not really
You should see him as Bernie Madoff in The Wizard of Lies.
Awesome 😎
When I was a kid and saw this in the theater, Robert DeNiro totally scared the hell out of me. He still terrifies me in this movie. He is such a great actor. I love him in all his movies, but this movie he just freaks me out so much.
the zinnemäeh eh pis zedtt lörrned my tö h8 ähryän äh möre ä ryän äh chärtäkerß ^ ^
Legend De Niro not like fake guys out there nowadays
We had to walk home and I was looking over my shoulder the whole time I was so freaked out. Wasn't like I thought Robert de Niro was behind me 😂 but it just creeped me out to the bone.
_I am like God, and God like me. I am as large as God, He is as small as I. He cannot above me, nor I beneath Him be_
How could a believer of god say he is like god? can u explain what that means?
In the movie the quote represent Cady's willpower
You said that God is like you. But does God like you? You believe in God, but does God believe in you?
Assassinboy 808 u been watching too much bo burnham?
True. But there's also biblical content to support this. The Bible says, man was made in His image. Furthermore, Jacob wrestled with God through the entire night and neither of them beat the other.
The way Cady knows he’s behind the skip. He clearly sees him. But as insane as he is. He’s smart. Goes to court, plays the victim n gets a restraining order for him. He knows the way to get him is not beat him with pipe n hospitalise him but take everything he loves n values
"COME OUT COME OUT WHEREEVER YOU ARE!"
Wendy
Im home
I like how after he said it all finished with "selasius 17th century " in an upper class English accent 😂
And De Niro _nailed_ the Billy Graham affectation before that
The contrast between how menacing DeNiro's character is and that outfit he's wearing cracks me up
Counselor, that you...?Could you be there? Sounds like a sinister Mr. Rogers🤣🤣🤣
I always thought of Max Cady as Hannibal Lector combined with Earnest P. Worrell.
And then the next day he goes to court and acts like a victim lol
by all means though he WAS the victim lmao it was 3 on 1 this shit was bad ass .. those 3 have got to be the weakest hit squad ever..
Ha ha, yeah the guy with the chain was weak and lame!!
Well thats because he can out thank you!
@@melvert33 You're not kidding. They fought so poorly and stupid. Like when the first guy got headbutted, you could see him coming. Then the other 2 guys just stood there not doing anything while he was pulling the pipe off. Wtf happened?
Cause he's smart...
I watch this movie every couple of years. Every once in a while I think of this speech. It's the first time Cady is really tested in the film. His speech to the world is priceless after his ass-kicking of Counselor's thugs. I think everyone can relate to having to overcome seemingly impossible odds. When people start fuckin w you just think of this speech. Patience, their time will come, and revenge is a dish best served cold.
Agreed.
@EliteRussianF.S.B agent. "A-B-C-D-E-F-G...I told you not to fuck with me."
Yeah, great acting likes, but let's not forget why Cady was in prison. Yeah, Counselor should have done his job n let the jury decide rather than stitching him up but Cady wasn't exactly the bruised party. Yeah, he's a hard fella, n focused, tunnel vision on his vengeance, but he wasn't exactly innocent
But, that's like the opposite of what happens in the movie. Cady survived prison through his hatred and desire for revenge but ultimately that also doomed him and he died drowned with his face half burned off. This movie is really framed on a xviii century romantic novel (or I guess Christian) morality of "no bad deed goes unpunished" that's both for Nick Nolte and Cady. The councelor is terrorized by Cady (a monster of his own creation, kind of) through the whole movie but is redeemed at the end because he admits his crime, while Cady persists on his revenge and gets the ultimate punishment
@@murphymcbrainz493 But the woman was promiscuous. We don't really know what transpired.
De Niro used to make such good movies.
Killers of the Flower Moon says hi.
Counselor, cme' out, cme' out, wherever you are!
Counselor...Counselor
Love it, after this scene he goes and sees the guy who hires the men and he says; "we'll get some more boys" LOLz
One of my fav films from the 90s .Robert de niro .he is such a great actor .he was very handsome when younger .this is a timeless performance .
He hired 3 lowlifes to do what one .38 magnum would've taken care of.
He ended up snatch the revolver at the end anyway
He ain't want him dead just beat
you n yör -fränt- kämmce x D
This is one my "favorite" parts too.I love how takes a beating then comes back with vengeance and recites his wee poem. Love it!
"Come out, come out wherever y'are"
De niero can fit in any role and do the best in it
@Steve Jones no not really actually but it shows a new side of his acting that were not been shown before I don't recall a role like that for him before that one it were more aggressive mysterious and intimidating.
@Steve Jones I think the most role that deniro where atthe top in it its jimmy conway in goodfellas I know its not the most popular for him but its the best,
@@Ash3ary_7abashyand compare those two performances. They're both criminals but completely different people.
As a kid i was flipping channels and saw this particular scene never having seen the earlier scenes and i thought Deniro played the good guy because he was getting beat up for seemingly no reason and turned it around like a Charles Bronson action hero lol
Almost everyone with a hatred of a lawyer feels all fuzzy watching this.
Silesius also called himself Angelus Silesius, which is interesting considering Joss Whedon's enormously popular Angel(us) TV-series, which reflects several aspects of Silesius' heretical writings
Funny, this is my favourite scene from the movie, too! I love how he calls "counselor?" "counselor, that you?" 😂
Robert De Niro is the best and the one and only!!
Seriously how the hell does a guy come back from a beating like that? I mean he took like 5-10 hits to the face from a led pipe and not even blink
Hollow pipe. U could. If crazy n hate filled enough n the pipe was hollow
If you understand the film you would know god is helping survive the attack
It may be a rare thing but there are people out there who are super violent and super strong, can take punishment way more than the average tough guy. And as max cady stated in the film "I was surrounded in a cell for 14 years by people who were LESS than human. My mission at that time was to become MORE than human".
That means he spent all that time training himself to be very very tough to almost superhuman level
I guess it's acting. I mean it's a movie isn't it?
Psycho power my friend.
Cady did get a few pretty good whacks from those guys over the first 2 minutes. All 3 of them underestimated him though.
Nick dipaolo sent me here
He said "I can out-thank-you" so at least he's polite.
'out-think you' (must have been the accent he was putting on, 'out-thank you' doesn't make sense)
@@artmallory970 No. It's out-thank-you. He's a polite southern gentleman.
When you look into your opponent's eyes and he sees that you're willing to die in that ring...
DeNero Was The Real Shit In This Flick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two Thumbs Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He killed it in this flick! One of his best!
That went as close as to worst case senario as possible.
I did act of this movie and I saw this movie when I was like 12 or 13 or 14
will some one PLEASE give de niro an oscar for this? i know it's been like 22 years. but still...
I always loved that part at around 3:22 where he looks as if he knew it would be too easy to go behind the dumpster and beat the crap out of the counselor... then plays it off, fuck it.. I will get you counselor, you son of a bitch..
He did something that they "deeeid" not like..... and in self "deefence" things deeid get out of "heand"......
Three on one and guess who comes up best off . Love it !
U can tell being called white trash really hurt cadys ego. Brings it up multiple times to make his point
the connection with his hair and his strength- and unable to hurt him- is equal to Samson of the Judges which is a gr8 connection to his bible upbringing.
Avenging Angel
"could you be there?"
Pacino DeNiro exceptional actors.
Oscar moment
Cady acted in self defense here,so the next place he'll see the counselor is in court as a victim getting a protective order,he plays his revenge game to the hilt.
I guess some guys can withstand being hit with a pipe 20-30 times, and other guys, not so much.
The films stupid
@@michaelanthonyg3851 If you understand the film you would know god is helping survive the attack
Cady had the strength and resilience of a crazed madman.
@@michaelanthonyg3851 erm do u know anything about this film? Like who played max Cady in the black n white original? If its so stupid why is it in the list of 100 greatest films lolz. What's ur favourite film?
Throwing off that that surveils.
“Could you be there?”
Nick DiPaolo is a legend.
For the record after Max Cady took down those 3 hired lowlifes hired by Sam Bowden to kill Max Cady he brutally overpowered them. If Max Cady found Sam Bowden hiding behind the dumpster Max Cady would've beaten the living crap out of Sam Bowden with the pipe or worse killed him to get revenge on Sam Bowden for sending Max Cady to jail and punching him twice. Sam Bowden now knows how terrifying Max Cady is and he's also afraid of him seeing how dangerous Max Cady is.
Chilling!
De Niro was powerful
If you listen carefully, you’ll notice his southern accent slip when he said” what the fucks the difference?”
Counselor... counselor....
when de Niro was a consummate actor...
Thank you Nick Dipaolo.
I kind of feel that Cady uses those Biblical verses and sermons to make himself seem more moral than Sam, even though he is evil. That's why he talks about the 9th circle of Hell, which is reserved for traitors. This Max Cady is driven by his passion for revenge against Sam.
how can someone who believes in god say hes equal to god? can u explain when he says "i am like god and god like me..."
+dontbedatdude He sees himself as God's avenger; someone who comes down to earth to punish sinners.
dontbedatdude I like to believe that max has some kind of God complex, where he considered himself equal to God, with the mentality that "vengeance is his"
The old school strings soundtrack is so good.
The southern accent is no good but that voice deniro uses here was just terrific. I could close my eyes and not know it was him since he has a pretty distinctive way of talking
De Niro! Master.
Bray Wyatt should quote this line.
One of my fav scenes in Casino
Its a great sceen but i cant pick the best sceen in this movie. It is My favorite movie.
The detective was the killer in the original.
Divine
This movie changed me
I can out philosophize you!
Max cady:ah,(bleep) it! You hear what's the (bleep) the difference! (Bleep) it!" (Max cady throws the stick)
I thought this was the video of DeNiro's press conference where he was campaigning for Biden. Oh well, same difference.
I always expect him to take that pipe and throw at the trash container where the counselor was hiding
and I like this movie too
1:52 I say this about myself all the time. :)
They lost me in this scene. It's simply impossible three big guys have him on the ground and he just wakes up and gets them. And of course they stop hitting him and wait patiently for their turn to get their ass kicked. Too much.
I agree this performance very dark and creepy but it is the genuis work of robert and my opinion probably the best role the chracter is 100 percent believable by the end of the movie ur sayin to ur self i hope hes not under my bed
damn it; if only they had used real pipes instead of foam rubber.
good one
Cady vs lector that would be interesting both creepy and sick
Nick diapolo brought me here
the guy is tough but there's no way he could come back from that many pipe hits to the head
Nobody gets beat like that and gets up but it was a great scene.
You'd be surprised what some individuals are capable of my friend. Dont underestimate anyone
Rocky did
I find that avria means elf sprite and counselor like a lawyer
Hahahahaha there should be a parody of this in a spoof movie (probably go over todays kids heads though) and they should use that rhyme LOL
If I Made This Version Of Cape Fear, Here's Who I Would Cast. I Would Cast Bob Balaban As Max Cady And Arnold Schwarzenegger As Sam Bowden.
I'd Have Arnold Seen As He's Never Been Seen Before. He'd Be COMPLETELY SHREDDED(YES! Not All Big And Bulky And All 'Roided Up!)
Whereas Mr.Balaban would be all muscled up and shown as Arnold's Physical Superior, Plus I'd have Bob sporting a goatee as he played Max Cady.
You see, I think that having those two actors switch places...one who is a little beanpole get all muscled up and the other shrink down to a beanpole would make it all the more terrifying!
SOUTHERN BY THE GRACE OF GOD
All those years inside where he had to be a woman as he put it earlier gave him a high threshold for pain. I mean he was repeatedly gang raped by each group of prisoners multiple times yet he somehow did not kill himself or leave prison dressed and acting like a receptive willing promiscuous homosexual (I put it in these terms to clarify not all LGBTQ men are that specific category) instead he somehow came out of prison more chiseled and standing on two feet. Point in all this being, three men who didn’t go through what he went through were not enough to take him down, you could’ve sent 10 men who weren’t as psychologically damaged and he still would’ve won because they did not go through what he went through in reclaiming his manhood after it was repeatedly taken from him by force.
Soo…y’all in the comments are still keeping in mind that Cady is still the bad guy and a child predator right?
Exactly!!
When a bunch of Lvl 1s try to gang up on a Lvl 100
That's me if I was a bad guy.
Yep. The sequel to Raging Bull sure looks good, but there's no nagging wife to give the fun that little extra tension.
This should have been done on the simpsons!
Wow
What a fuck up! I would've meowed after that 1st fuck up, from behind the dumpster 😹
As nasty as this film is…..
I must admit……
De Niro really had some great dialogue and tactics.
HE A QUALITY TOP
He could be the joker
Sure took a good beating max cady would have killed him if it were real no man is that strong enough to ensue a vicious beating 👍😀
Did any one in history actually say "I am like God, and God like me. I am as large as God, He is as small as I. He cannot above me, nor I beneath Him be. Selatius, 17th Century. " Or was Max Cady just as mad as a rat in a shit tin house ?
***** angelus silesius
+Did Ye Aye ? He quoted Selatius. Who's Selatius? I have no idea.
LindsEntertainment TV Well, as a poet, Sileius thought very highly of himself...
Actually it's not a reflection on his ego or superiority to God, but rather an acknowledgement of man's potential to be God's spiritual equal (e.g., in His own image). Please read the Cape Fear reference in the following article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelus_Silesius
Jeffrey Knowles Cool. I was really just making a joke, though.
Don’t mater how many times he got raped and beat up in prison. This is humanly impossible
EXACTLY!! people really think that a person Patik of being like that with metal pipes, hits to the head, back and everywhere else and still get up and fight like he did? People like that are dumb.
Genial
why did he hesitate and just find Boden hiding?
1:01 What's he doing? Might as well just hand over that chain to Cady. Acting a soft fight is a killer isn't it 😂.
Nick Di Paolo
Jesuitism, illuminati mysticism. Martin scorsese knows what I am talking about.
