You have truly made me feel like I have some type of control and hope over my symptoms now, It’s an uphill battle but It’s one I can now fight. This is so good! I have been looking at additional treatments on top of my cpap. I am not quite sure I have TMJ, but do you think using a TMJ orthotic would still be helpful for people with obstructive sleep apnea? I know for sure now I have bad tongue posture.

    Doctors told me my sleep apnea was so severe and my nose/throat area was so narrow, that a MAD would never suffice. I used CPAP for a whole year. What an absolute indescribable nightmare. Imagine how much distress sleep apnea can bring to your life. Triple that from the problems brought about by using CPAP. I asked my dentist for a night guard as I grind my teeth. He made a MAD for me. Now my sleep apnea is perfectly treated, completely opposite what my expert sleep apnea doctor told me. I wish I had the bravery to try out MAD first... Hope you guys will too. If it works, it works.

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  3 місяці тому

      @@Lexweecon that must be assessed by an experienced TMJ dentist. But a rule of thumb is that if it’s helping you to feel better, it’s likely working.

    I went to Craniofacial center for TMJ problems I've been having. They never had me wear a TMJ orthotic. They had me go straight to using a Mandibular Advancement Device, how can I tell if TMJ orthotic was built into it?

    • @theTMJdoc
      @theTMJdoc  5 днів тому

      I don't know how to guide you to be able to tell that. I can say that a MAD is not the same as a TMJ orthotic.

    Dr as a child i always had very defined features and jaws as i grew older i developed tmj problems ( clicking and popping ) in the left side of my jaw and slowly crept to the right side as well because of this I am suffering from a recessed chin and lower jaw i told my dentist about this and he made me a night guard ( altho i dont clenching my teeth out of habit ) through research i have found that the recession in my face has occurred from bending of the condyles ( which my mouth guard worsened ) also to add that after the mouth guard was out into place i have developed the habit of clenching my jaw subconsciously can you please tell me what to do to stop and fix this recession of the chin mandible and ramus note to add that i have a wide palate and breathe through my nose your advice on how i can straighten my condyles and stop the recession of the lower jaw will be much appreciated

    when i was around 12 my dentist (not even an orthodontist) decided to remove a set of my upper premolars because he thought that my face didn't have enough room. this essentially recessed the front half of my upper teeth but left the molars in a normal position. now obviously to avoid having a massive underbite, my orthodontist then shifted my entire mandible backwards with bands so that my front teeth would line up, but now my lower molars are further back than my upper molars. i'm 26 and just recently rnoticed that my jaw naturally wants to return to its forward position and i've been pulling it back manually since i was a child basically. this has caused me innumerable health problems as i'm sure you can imagine. is there any way to extend my front teeth back outward and make room for premolar implants so that my mandible can return to its natural position or am i just screwed?

    It's hard to find a good sleep apnea doctor, a lot of them I don't trust it just seems like they don't have the attention to detail, their answers don't seem nuanced or the level of care is not taken holistically in a way that makes me trust them. Their answers are way too black and white in my experience with the ones I went to.
