Love these videos many thanks. I have a similar sized project in mind. Can i ask for approx cost of steel? And are steel fabricators usually this helpful in fitting? Thanks.

The cost for the steel is detailed in my video about how I priced that house extension. Link below. Steel fabricators are neither helpful nor unhelpful. You just need to decide whether you want to pay for measure, supply and fit, or just supply with you organising the tools to fit. Thanks for your comment.

What length steel ( needle) you used ? Thanks

Length of steel for needle depends on thickness of wall plus 600 each side to allow a person to walk between the props and the face of the wall you’re going to demolish. The ones at the end on the diagonal I made longer because I didn’t want them to interfere with the foundations

@@build-better-things You are great man. Answer me this time.
I’m watching your video & inspired.
I’m doing my extension my self .
My out side wall stone build. Inside brick. 100 years old house.
      Wall size 350 total
Total width of the house 7m.
Can I use total 2m long (needle) steel ?
      Thanks

You need a structural engineer to give you those sizes, or calculate them yourself with a risk assessment. I can’t do it here for you. I’ll pass the lengths past my engineer before cutting them to size. The needle depth comes from your engineer

All the work I’ve shown in these videos I have done myself with my own hands, sometimes I have my colleague to help, but I rarely work with more than the two of us, and we do most if not all the trades. Where I get outside help, such as steel fabrication, which is done in a factory and delivered by crane, then of course I will get the fabricator’s input. In this case, after we did the prep, I had the fabricator deliver and raise the steel in place, but we shimmed and completed the critical work. You can see my other video here showing the install
