If last stands can also include not necessarily dying last stands... then River in Serenity is absolutely epic. But yes, out of this list it should have Leonidas.
Wasn’t in vein, actually happened, and they knew they weren’t walking away from it, held totally professionalism according to Mike Durants accounts. First MOH since Vietnam. Those dudes were hard mfs. Mike Vining said if anyone could’ve successfully held off that mob it would’ve been them. Rip
That traumatized when i was a kid. When they got stripped of their uniform and their lifeless body getting thrown around. Shit was intense but truly epic last stand
If you liked that one you should watch any of Kurosawa’s samurai films. Yojimbo, Throne of Blood, Sanjuro, and of course 7 Samurai. They do not disappoint!
@@Ma660t5andw1chKurosawa is so influential that the game Ghost of Tsushima has a display mode called Kurosawa mode. Makes the game black and white and extra cinematic. Beautiful to look at.
Not a movie, but for sheer heart rending genus, I have to shout out Blackadder Goes Forth when they go over the top. One for another list perhaps? Great video as always btw
I always thought Optimus Prime at the battle of Autobot city in The Transformers: The Movie was an epic last stand. He essentially had to take on most of the Decepticon ranks including Megatron in order to save the Autobots from certain death. So brave, so badass!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ You, Jules! I will NEVER get tired of your words of encouragement when you post videos. You are appreciated and the fact that you take the time to encourage others is absolutely needed. Take care, Beautiful Soul & you’re a LEGEND, too!
The Wild Bunch. How do you not include the Wild Bunch? They took an *army* with them after the bad🍑 bon mot: “Let’s go.” Much as I love BC& SK, THIS is ultimate OG.
Black Hawk Down!? The two snipers who willingly get out of their helicopter to help save the downed helicopter pilot at the crash site. They took out so many guys before dying and giving him a chance to survive. He was captured and beaten but was saved eventually and it would not of happened without those two doing what they did. Plus "based on real events" as the movie states if that is true then they are real life heros, like every other soldier who willingly goes into the service.
Unforgiven : one of the best movies ever made. Munny (Eastwood) told the biographer that he always seemed to be lucky in things like that (meaning, gunfights.) I loved his character b/c he was stoic, brave, loyal, fair, and a bit broken with glaring imperfections, yet he strived to be a better man; and he certainly evened scores that needed settling. I had this movie on vhs tape and found myself watching it over & over.
Regarding T2, Dyson wasn't holding any detonator over explosives. He was holding a broken piece of a large-scale CPU chip that he was developing, and dropped that on the detonator. * 5:31 You even show a shot of Dyson smashing the model where the piece came from.
Which also happens to be the only death you don't see. It's a great character arc for him too as he seems to spend most of the movie "afraid" of the Predator
Captain Mifune is number 1 for me, literally searched top 10 last stands on YT while watching Matrix Revolutions to see if/where he ranked, all hail the king 🙌
There is on n the TV mini series Centennial- the old chief knows the enemy are going to charge, he wants to die in battle. He goes to where the enemy will charge, drives a stake in the ground, TIES HIS LEG TO THE STAKE, prepares his flintlock rifle and waits.
Duncan Idaho in Dune, the entire cast of Rogue One and Letters from Iwo Jima, James Coughlin in The Town, and finally, Parker and Longbaugh from The Way of the Gun.
How about the suicidal last stand charge in The Last Samurai. Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe leads what was left of their army on a last ditch cavalry charge against the enemy, awesome scene, heart wrenching and yet beautiful as well
I am missing Avengers: Endgame from the list, even tho it was expected. It definitely paid off from the 10 years of build up to see all of them together and cap off with Iron Man's sacrifice.
Have to say you have Unforgiven backwards. He stood there literally staring death in the eyes. Ordering his men what to do when he dies. The as he is laying there at death door he tries one more time. As still says “see you in hell”
As awesome as Randy Quaid’s last stand is, it originally had him showing up to the battle with missiles strapped to the sides of his crop duster; it was ridiculous and completely implausible for the thing to maneuver through the ensuing battle and to make that vertical climb into the exposed bottom of the ship, not to mention turning a heroic sacrifice, into just a drunk shenanigan
You picked Aliens...but forgot Hudson's last stand? Come on! Bill Paxton slinging bullets and F bombs as he gets pulled away by the Xenos? What's more badass than that?
I don't know about bada$$, but one of the funniest last stands is when... Larry Faces Vito Weekend At Bernie's Johnathan Silverman's Richard finds a big accounting error at the insurance company he works. His buddy, Andrew McCarthy's Larry, is along for the ride as the lazy half of the duo. After a series of increasingly absurd events, Don Calfa's Vito, who killed Bernie much earlier, keeps coming back to Bernie's to kill him again when the guys+ make him look alive. In the end though, Larry bests Vito with a telephone wire and Manos de Pietros, Fists of Steel, as Larry put it.
WHERE THE HELL IS THE "WILD BUNCH"??? I mean it is one of the greatest blaze of glory in cinematic history, and it is easily better than 12?15 entries on this list.
Rogue One had a pretty epic last stand. Surprised it didn't make the list.
You totally missed The Wild Bunch. A massive, epic, bloody last stand.
That's one of the first movies I thought of as well.
Totally agree.
If last stands can also include not necessarily dying last stands... then River in Serenity is absolutely epic.
But yes, out of this list it should have Leonidas.
absolutely agree about Serenity
Black Hawk Down, MSG Gary Gordon and SFV Randall Shugart, gave their lives to rescue their fellow soldiers at the second helicopter crash site.
Fwiw it’s Shugart
Wasn’t in vein, actually happened, and they knew they weren’t walking away from it, held totally professionalism according to Mike Durants accounts. First MOH since Vietnam. Those dudes were hard mfs. Mike Vining said if anyone could’ve successfully held off that mob it would’ve been them. Rip
I think Jet Li in Hero has a great combo of Leonidas's arrows barrage and Rorschach's values.
The last stand of the two delta snipers in Black Hawk down is highly underrated if you ask me.
That traumatized when i was a kid. When they got stripped of their uniform and their lifeless body getting thrown around. Shit was intense but truly epic last stand
Man, I hope Clark and the rest of the Griswolds are proud of Uncle Eddie now. He did help save the world lol.
The last samurai?
That last stand in the Last Samurai had be crying like a baby
I genuinely expected this to be top 3.
If you liked that one you should watch any of Kurosawa’s samurai films. Yojimbo, Throne of Blood, Sanjuro, and of course 7 Samurai. They do not disappoint!
@@Ma660t5andw1ch i watched 7 samurai the ending sure was touching. I haven't seen the others you mentioned. Hopefully they are on Netflix
@@Ma660t5andw1chKurosawa is so influential that the game Ghost of Tsushima has a display mode called Kurosawa mode. Makes the game black and white and extra cinematic. Beautiful to look at.
All worthy entries but.... Leon? "This is from Matilda". Best ever last stand scene 😃
"Manny, bring me everyone."
@@yatta99 "EVERYONE!"
FACTS!
What movie is this from?
The sniper in "Blackhawk Down", and the driver from "Vanishing Point" should have made the list.
Sniper(S) there were TWO of them, both deserving of respect.
@@davidd.3555 I meant the team, and not to disregard anyone involved with the operation. If I could have I would have said all involved.

No offense but Optimus went down like an Autobitch. Tragic, really.....
The last 10 minutes of The Wild Bunch was one giant last stand.
Did we watch the same movie? The guy was mowing down Decepticons like it was going out of style.
Yeah i have to agree with Captain Mifune. Not a big matrix fan, but this is a glorious fight he puts up.
Kudos to the writers and Kudos to you for your wonderful narration, Jules. Well done, great video and I agree with #1. It was an amazing film.
Captain mifune is the most underrated hero in all cinema....
I wasn't quite sure what #1 would be, however, it could not be anything other than that.
Robert in Red Dawn. That Basil Poledouris score really bumps it up a few notches.
Glory! How did Glory not make this list?
Denzel Washington's character carrying that flag up the hill... 😢
The Wild Bunch
Not including The Wild Bunch on this list is borderline criminal...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ You, Jules! I will NEVER get tired of your words of encouragement when you post videos. You are appreciated and the fact that you take the time to encourage others is absolutely needed. Take care, Beautiful Soul & you’re a LEGEND, too!
The Alamo? Zulu? The Wild Bunch? Seven Samurai?
Star Ship Troopers didn't make it damn.
You want a little more!?
Facts Sugar Watkins went out like a true legend 🔥
The Wild Bunch. How do you not include the Wild Bunch? They took an *army* with them after the bad🍑 bon mot: “Let’s go.”
Much as I love BC& SK, THIS is ultimate OG.
You forgot Shrek 2, Mongo sacrificing himself to allow Ginge and Shrek to get into the castle RIP MONGO xox
Now this is the what culture content I signed up for
Thelma and Louise and the cliff is pretty epic, it was a first for female characters.
Zulu? Best ending ever
Black Hawk Down!? The two snipers who willingly get out of their helicopter to help save the downed helicopter pilot at the crash site. They took out so many guys before dying and giving him a chance to survive. He was captured and beaten but was saved eventually and it would not of happened without those two doing what they did. It's a helluva thing, killing a man
Léon: The Professional had a memorable last stand.
Regarding T2, Dyson wasn't holding any detonator over explosives. He was holding a broken piece of a large-scale CPU chip that he was developing, and dropped that on the detonator. * 5:31 You even show a shot of Dyson smashing the model where the piece came from.
I never realized that I always looked at it as some oddly placed Deadmans switch.
"An American fighter plane"
That sir, is a P51 Mustang and one of the coolest military planes to ever exist.
Billy in predator is my number 1
Which also happens to be the only death you don't see. It's a great character arc for him too as he seems to spend most of the movie "afraid" of the Predator
Why? Billy dies like a screaming b**ch.
Captain Mifune is number 1 for me, literally searched top 10 last stands on YT while watching Matrix Revolutions to see if/where he ranked, all hail the king 🙌
“Gordy’s gone man, I’ll be outside, good luck”
Amazing list, but come on….no Wild Bunch??
"Set It Off," how dare you snub the queen!
Gran Torino and Jaws
Iron Giant - "Superman..." GD it, stop reminding me of that one scene!! I'm not crying, you're crying!
Great picks! The other comments mention other great ones - please do a "Part 2".
I am 36 and I almost teared up with you talkin about the ending of Iron Giant.
You guys have forgotten to put Sir Alec Guinness´ssssss epic stand in "The Bridge On The River Kwai" on the list! ;)
And what about Atentát (1964) - last stand of the paratroopers in the crypt of the church after assasination of Heydrich - based on real story.
I'm glad to see that LOTR made the list but I think everyone can agree that Gandalf facing the Balrog is much more epic than Boromir and the orcs.
The Wild Bunch should be #1. A glaring omission.
Should have had starship troopers on this list, the ambush at the outpost is 1 of the best movie last stands ive seen.
How could you leave out John Wayne in "The Shootist"?
There is on n the TV mini series Centennial- the old chief knows the enemy are going to charge, he wants to die in battle. He goes to where the enemy will charge, drives a stake in the ground, TIES HIS LEG TO THE STAKE, prepares his flintlock rifle and waits.
Duncan Idaho in Dune, the entire cast of Rogue One and Letters from Iwo Jima, James Coughlin in The Town, and finally, Parker and Longbaugh from The Way of the Gun.
Even though they didn't die, I'm going to suggest Benicio del Toro and Ryan Philipe in The Way of the Gun. It was, most certainly, an epic gunfight!
The iron giant made me cry as a kid.
In T2, Dyson wasn't holding the detonator, he was holding a piece of the chip model over it. Close enough I suppose.
Sam Rockwells in Seven Psychopaths
5 movies that had a really outstanding performance ending
I loved the last stand by the three men who did the kamikaze attack to save humanity in PROMETHEUS.
How about the suicidal last stand charge in The Last Samurai. Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe leads what was left of their army on a last ditch cavalry charge against the enemy, awesome scene, heart wrenching and yet beautiful as well
Scanners last stand should be on this list, the movie might not be one of the best but the last scene is epic
I am missing Avengers: Endgame from the list, even tho it was expected. It definitely paid off from the 10 years of build up to see all of them together and cap off with Iron Man's sacrifice.
The Wild Bunch? Leon?
I can't believe John Wayne's True Grit wasn't in here
Have to say you have Unforgiven backwards. He stood there literally staring death in the eyes. Ordering his men what to do when he dies. The as he is laying there at death door he tries one more time. As still says “see you in hell”
Doc... Young Guns 2 "Let's Finish The Game Billy!"
Sooooo many. I was going to say Saving Private Ryan or even the Firefly 'showdown' at the end of The Devil's Rejects. Good list!
I am surprised that nothing from Star Wars: The Clone Wars made this list
Young Guns last stand in the house
Hmmm, not sure the ending of Thelma & Louise fits this list as a last stand, but they went out on their own terms as well.
How is Hudson from Aliens not on this list!? His last stand was more epic the Vazquez and Gorman and I say this with Aliens being my favorite movie
Real question, does a last stand imply a defensive position?
And a good question. I was thinking of "Glory," in which they attack Fort Wagner but are annihilated.
Woody harrelson's character Tallahassee facing down all the zombies at the end of zombieland 👍
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was great…but that musical number on the bike…
Can't see how you didn't include the Wild Bunch
I have faith in James Mangold with the new INDIANA JONES
Even though Disney's gonna find a way to ruin everything again
As awesome as Randy Quaid’s last stand is, it originally had him showing up to the battle with missiles strapped to the sides of his crop duster; it was ridiculous and completely implausible for the thing to maneuver through the ensuing battle and to make that vertical climb into the exposed bottom of the ship, not to mention turning a heroic sacrifice, into just a drunk shenanigan
You picked Aliens...but forgot Hudson's last stand? Come on! Bill Paxton slinging bullets and F bombs as he gets pulled away by the Xenos? What's more badass than that?
The USS Enterprise in Star Trek: Nemesis rammed the Scimitar, and Data ended up dying.
So you're really gonna act like The Wild Bunch doesn't exist? The shoot out With the mexicans at the end is epic
Happy Tuesday Jules🙌🏾
Oh hell yeah i cried seeing Logan die as a hero…
Interesting choice for Saving Private Ryan given that their last stand was dubbed 'Alamo' and yet the list omits The Alamo with John Wayne.
I don't know about bada$$, but one of the funniest last stands is when...
Larry Faces Vito
Weekend At Bernie's
Johnathan Silverman's Richard finds a big accounting error at the insurance company he works.
You missed the Wild Bunch
Young Guns! Epic Last Stand.
Nobody mentioned The Last Castle in my perusing of the comments and that makes me sad.
i would like to add an indian movie in this list--- Sholayy....which has the best last stand in indian cinema
Asuka vs The Mass Production Evas - End of Evangelion
The last stands (plural) in Seven Samurai can't even get a mention.
I would've included V's last stand in V for Vendetta
The Last Samurai
Bataan (1943), and The Last Command (1955).
Jules… buddy… how do you have an epic last stand list without The Alamo? Love ya bro!
He wasn't on screen much, but Captain Mifune was my favorite character in the 3rd Matrix movie. Understated badassery...
I mean while it's a TV show death technically, paz viszla is not included
Black widow and Iron man should have be in the honourable mentions
It’s a P51. Come on man. They saved your country!
You left out "ZULU"!!!
My favourite is Gladiator and The Wild bunch 1969
WHERE THE HELL IS THE "WILD BUNCH"??? I mean it is one of the greatest blaze of glory in cinematic history, and it is easily better than 12?15 entries on this list.
The last stand in the church in John Woo's The Killer.
Brilliant. That's a personal favourite.
White Heat (1949). Nuff said'
No Optimus Prime from Transformers: The Movie?
