    Just picked up a second hand one of these relatively cheaply as I know the company went under. Rides a lot easier than I expected and within minutes I was comfortable on the board (I’m 43 yo but did skate a bit as a teen and have snowboarded on and off for the last few years) A lot of fun, just hope I can keep the board going for a few years to make the purchase worth it . . .

    Hey mate, Sydney sider here. I committed to a E-Longboard not long before viewing your initial Boosted Mini review so I missed your warning about riding on our roads. That said, I was wondering if you have any tips for riding around Sydney with an E-Longboard. I live around suburban, but would ideally be commuting in the city.

    That road in your neighborhood is typical of all neighborhoods. The smoothness and vibrations on a kick versus an electric skateboard are basically the same.
    If you know how to Ollie on a board, you can avoid unexpected cracks and such.

    • @jamesdaly_tech
      @jamesdaly_tech  3 роки тому +1

      I disagree, due to the weight of the board. I can ollie and avoid cracks fine on my usual boards, but trying to ollie an 8kg electric board, where all the weight is at the front, is an entirely different story. You also naturally go faster on an electric board, just due to not having to push, so every bump you hit becomes more forceful

    Maybe try getting bigger wheels next time. It’ll make the ride more smooth and rough surfaces! Higher top speed but it’s harder to break

    • @jamesdaly_tech

      Definitely agree! When I replace the wheels I'll definitely be swapping out for something larger :)

    Boosted is now out of business and that means no customer support. Does this still justify the 1000 price tag?

    • @nexusblade8650
      @nexusblade8650 4 роки тому +1

      Hell no, you'll just be throwing your cash in the dump unless you're willing to cover the costs of spare parts in case of any failure which is common in recent boosted products I've heard.

    How does your view change now that boosted is out of business?

    • @jamesdaly_tech
      @jamesdaly_tech  4 роки тому +2

      Hmm, I’m not sure I’d recommend buying anything Boosted now unless you know what you’re doing in terms of repairs and customisations; their services and support were a big selling point. I’d probably recommend checking out Exway boards at this stage

    • @jamesdaly_tech
      @jamesdaly_tech  4 роки тому +1

      I know, I’m pretty bummed about that :( I bought some spare parts in case anything breaks, and I’m going to get as much use out of it as I can!

    • @fallingxlove
      @fallingxlove 4 роки тому

      James Daly I actually picked up the boosted mini x since this last comment. Turns out Best Buy still has a bunch of them. It’s been great. It also turns out that after some research I found a lot of parts for this board can be bought from third party’s and are unbranded parts. Also a lot of support for 3D printed parts as well. So you should be ok unless a major part breaks such as battery, remote or motor. I also think someone will buy out boosted and they are going to be selling parts etc.

    • @omfgaduck
      @omfgaduck 3 роки тому

      @@fallingxlove they have been bought out by calirides llc, i actually just bought a reconditioned mini x, for 800 from them. They're basically just selling out old inventory and liquidating the company from what I understand.

    • @fallingxlove
      @fallingxlove 3 роки тому +1

      Doctorr_Whomm makes sense I bought mine at Best Buy a few months ago. I also bought an evolve gtr, the evolve definitely is a lot better. But I find my self riding the mini x more often because it’s light and simple.

    Still illegal in Aus and the speed/power wars aren't doing us favors with lawmakers nor is comparing to bigger slower more recognizable cyclists who already bully peds and exceed 10km/h on shared paths.
