This quote always brings me a sense of hope and peace. Hope it will do the same for everyone. For the Christian, says St Gregory, one should be more concerned when things go well here, than when one faces suffering and loss and trials. Sufferings and trials in this life are evidence that God our Father loves us, and is working in us to prepare us for Heaven, and the rewards to be received in the life to come. But the one who comes into prosperity and ease in this life, should be concerned that he is receiving his reward in this life, instead of in the life to come. As always, our Fr Mark delivers! Thank you, Father for the confirmation of the Blessed Cross.
Great reminder of that old rugged cross. I love looking at Jesus on the cross at the church I attend. It is beautiful. I get to church and look at Him and say "I miss your face". Thank you, Jesus, for your cross.
When I have these moments of freedom from suffering, I remind myself to thank God and pray for the grace to not waste the sufferings that i know are right around the corner. i think when I stand before Jesus at judgement, there will be two huge mounds of glowing material in front of me. Jesus will say, "these are the sufferings and graces you wasted during your lifetime." God give me the grace to never waste another suffering and to offer my sufferings for the conversion and salvation of sinners, and for the souls in purgatory. Amen
I suffered a lot in my life, especially since I was 18 years old. A lot of traumas, and, by effect, I suffer from mental illness. I take a lot of medicines. Sometimes, my cross is too heavy, and I ask God to let me join Him in eternity, but at the same time, I feel a hand guiding me, taking care of me, and it is sometimes miraculous. God never forget us. It is breathtaking to see the sky at night and the stars and planets in a symphony. To see nature is incredible.
Thank you for sharing this. I too have mental health struggles. I found that offering that up for the souls in purgatory helps me to get through the pain.
Excellent reminder of the cross. My life was wonderful, calm and pleasant. My husband and children were doing well. Then I was diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. The tumors were in my lungs, liver and throughout my body. I felt like I was hit by a thunderbolt !! Here's the deal- In addition to my chemos and multiple surgeries , I carried my "cross" with joyful prayers, including the Her Holy Rosary. My confessor would anoint me and pray with me. Currently, I have been in remission for 6 months!! "I can do everything through Him who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13
Thank you Fr. Mark Goring, although through trials it's been challenging to carry my cross, I have accepted it., because God gives me the strength to do so. May Our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you. Viva Cristo Rey .
If I don’t feel the constant nipping at my heels from the enemy I feel like I must not be doing anything that concerns him. Carrying my cross allows me to keep up with Jesus because the closer I am the more powerful the graces.
We all instinctively know that suffering brings wisdom. But when we are in the throes of it, we pray for relief. One of my sons is a catastrophically wounded war vet, and suffers intensely daily, for many years. He says that no one can hear the caterpillar screaming as it's body dissolves and is remade in the cocoon. And the caterpillar cannot conceive of the butterfly. I think we are the same, and as we are remade on His path, we cannot conceive of what glorious life awaits us.
A lot of saints were worried when they didn’t receive hardship from the Lord. When things become easy and “perfect” I worry that I’m becoming too comfortable with my routine of faith.

This is modern evangelizing at its best. Getting God’s word out to the 4 corners of this world in record time. Fr. Mark’s video is uploaded and in a few hours, it’s reached thousands of souls. All of suffer in one way or the other. For our lives are are a journey of ups and downs. Thank you for these special words of the inspiration of the cross. Where is water most likely to be found ? Between the decline and incline of the path. Nourishment. Both has it's purpose . Accepting moments of peace from the Cross ,that God allows , can be just as difficult to carry as times of the full weight of the Cross. Both require His grace . After confession the priest absovles me from sin. I accept this forgiveness from Christ. This is a brief beautiful time of freedom in Christ. I use these moments for times of Wisdom and praise . I know life will soon bring it's difficulties and the battles will march on. When God allows times of silence , peace , and to drink from the fountain of His Mercy... pray for Wisdom and Discernment for the evil one will use the time for" reloading" and changing the tactics of the battle. Praise be Jesus Christ Love
Interesting perspective. Those special moments of peace & harmony I thought were glimpses into what heaven will be like and use as encouragement to keep pursuing a holy life, carrying the cross. Love hearing your daily inspirational messages and reading the comments. God bless your ministry
Yes Father! Been Catholic since I was born, When I felt all the way to the bottom, I able to listen to our Blessed Virgin Mary and open my heart to let our Lord Jesus Christ to come in, and learned so much about Christianity and about our beloved Catholic Church, reading the Bible every week, learning easily many prayers every week, praying the Rosary almos every day I stared attending TLM Friday, Saturday and Sunday, before was a hustle to attend Mass on Sundays, I became traditional Catholic, now when everything is doing better, I worry because this takes away some of that time I was spending with the Lord,
when a individual represents the absolute truth and are filled with the truth there is know fear or doubt just peace and comfort and the willingness to be useful to the way the truth and the life living from day to day focusing on Jesus Christ the truth amen
Even though we are good chrsistians some have more crosses than others .But we have to accept it cause i believe it is my way to heaven. My devise for that is Adoration when available receiving communion and most of all confession. I do know Jesus is making my soul brghter ever day. Cause he loves me deeply
Thank you, Father. Many of us are carrying our unique crosses and need reminding of the importance in God's grand plan. Oftentimes it is overwhelming, but faith and reminders from the cloud of witnesses resurrect us to be able to keep our eye on the summit.

Love when I have a day like that & totally agree with you. It is just like Jesus carrying the cross & he is beside us even when we aren't handling it well 🙏. I really enjoy the song that we sing during Lent about the cross, praise be to God for the cross' give me the wisdom to beat it 🙏
Father. My take is the perfect moments are because you are living as Christ would. Praying often. You personally work with Youths and this will give you strength when that Cross comes…. Thank You for all you do 🙏
Fr Mark Goring good evening Excellent useful things to know that's beautiful to know about more about God I do really like to about God more thanks fr 🙏 Amen.
Your message really touched my heart. I feel like I've been going through an uphill climb to Golgotha. I'm 70 years old and the climb is getting harder and harder. Your message gives me HOPE, that I'm on the path to Paradise. Boy, it's hard. I understand now, how Jesus felt when he was abandoned by the Father. His Sacrifice wouldn't have been complete had He had communion with His Father while crucified on the Cross. He was tortured physically, emotionally and spiritually, because of His great LOVE for us SINNERS. I got this revelation from Jesus in the writings of Maria Valtorta in the books Poem of The Man God. My heart was pierced when I read that. 😢
I'm 78 Father, things realy are changing, I have been raising chickens for years now my little chicks are laying eggs at 4 1/2 months, usually it's on point of lay at 6 months. I think I'm realy Blessed thankyou Father
I have never had that moment. I live in Serbia. It's real hard life here, daily. I pray to have that moment sometime in the future and I pray to survive every day in the present. I live for the future and I am afraid I won't know how to handle it if the moment of perfect peace ever comes. I am afraid I would feel guilty pleasure if my life was at the stage of "ha, this is so nice". But, I am still extremely grateful for everything that God does for me. It's like living in purgatory and slowly working your way to heaven, seeing angels along the way who are trying to purify you and feeling the holy spirit. I can see God and Mother Mary helping me through every single day. I truly see how lucky I am because it could always get worse. But I still dream of having that fine moment in life, at least for a while.
What a profound and wise post. 1 Corinthians 1:18-19 Paul writes. "The message of the cross is complete absurdity to those who are headed for ruin, but to us who are experiencing salvation it is the power of God." The cross is a stumbling block to many.
I don't know, if it's going for a long time, it might not be good... but I think sometimes the Lord gives us rest, and that is very important. We go through a lot, it's super-duper hard, the suffering all but breaks us (or it DOES, in my experience it's just not true that the Lord won't give us more than we can handle!) -- and then the Lord lets us relax for a little while so those wounds can heal, the skin over the scars can thicken, and we can meet the next challenge with greater resilience and strength. We can use the time of consolation to lay up graces against the next time of desolation, so I think it can be pretty important.
Need to be grateful every day no matter what’s going on I want to be what Jesus wants me to be He knows what I need I in my nature want smooth sailing But that makes me lazy Thank you Jesus in good times thank you Jesus when things have gone haywire
My pain and trying to solve it, has brought me back stronger to Jesus…I am a better person today. 🙏❤️Trust in Jesus.
Thank you for sharing this wisdom, Fr. Mark, and also for sharing that last quote of St. Paul, it gives me such hope and a sense of optimism! It’s easy to forget that amidst our trials and tribulations the Lord is helping us through them, and none of it is in vain if we offer it all with love.
God bless you.🙏🏻🕊
All of suffer in one way or the other. For our lives are are a journey of ups and downs. Thank you for these special words of the inspiration of the cross. For me I'm struggling caring for my 82 year old husband with so many medical issues. Also, for a 96 year old aunt who is definitely not well. All of us are going through that cross. Pray for us and all who carry their own cross. Blessings Father
Thank you Father for this clear and understandable explanation! A pearl of great wisdom! Deo Gratias 🕊️

✨✝️ Shalom Dear Father Mark. I'm overjoyed to hear that you are not currently feeling like you are the "Suffering Servant", especially on a Friday - I bet it's a real treat. It's only fair that you also get to share in the deep peace of our Lord Jesus, since you are always blessing us and bringing His indescribable peace, which "surpasses all understanding" to us all. But whatever you do, please keep the fire burning in the School of Reading!🕊️🔥💖🏫🙏

Praise be Jesus Christ

WOW,,,a beautiful sermon,,,thank you Fr. Mark Goring.
Interesting perspective. Those special moments of peace & harmony I thought were glimpses into what heaven will be like and use as encouragement to keep pursuing a holy life, carrying the cross.
Love hearing your daily inspirational messages and reading the comments.

It’s a struggle
On our Journey to the summit
each and every day we pick up our cross to move forward in this journey called life
Yes Father! Been Catholic since I was born, When I felt all the way to the bottom, I able to listen to our Blessed Virgin Mary and open my heart to let our Lord Jesus Christ to come in, and learned so much about Christianity and about our beloved Catholic Church, reading the Bible every week, learning easily many prayers every week, praying the Rosary almos every day I stared attending TLM Friday, Saturday and Sunday, before was a hustle to attend Mass on Sundays, I became traditional Catholic, now when everything is doing better, I worry because this takes away some of that time I was spending with the Lord,
For me, the cross brings affinity with Christ. He deeply knows, understands and has compassion for the suffering we all endure on life's way.
when a individual represents the absolute truth and are filled with the truth there is know fear or doubt just peace and comfort and the willingness to be useful to the way the truth and the life living from day to day focusing on Jesus Christ the truth amen
Even though we are good chrsistians some have more crosses than others .But we have to accept it cause i believe it is my way to heaven. My devise for that is Adoration when available receiving communion and most of all confession. I do know Jesus is making my soul brghter ever day. Cause he loves me deeply
Jesus had his Cross....we have ours
Thank you, Father. Many of us are carrying our unique crosses and need reminding of the importance in God's grand plan. Oftentimes it is overwhelming, but faith and reminders from the cloud of witnesses resurrect us to be able to keep our eye on the summit.

Gloria To You Jesus 🙏🏼✝️🕊️❤️🔥
Excellent!
Thank You for all you do 🙏
Well said Padre!
Amen Fr. Mark!!🙏
Happy orthodox feast of the cross, father
Praise Jesus... From india❤
Yes, Father Goring. I have come to realize what my cross is. I try to be strong through Our Lord and Mother Mary.🙏♥️🙏
Hey that kinda makes it all okay! Thank Padre
Thanks Father Mark, i agree with you. Inspiring message to live by
What a profound and wise post.
Thank you Father. 🙏
Need to be grateful every day no matter what’s going on
I want to be what Jesus wants me to be
He knows what I need I in my nature want smooth sailing
But that makes me lazy
Thank you Jesus in good times thank you Jesus when things have gone haywire
Amen thank you Father again 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👏🏻👏🏻
I've always heard that if it's always smooth sailing with no ups or downs something is wrong!!!!!! Better double check your thinking and living😊
If anyone wants to be a follower of mine deny yourself take up your cross of every day and follow me. Thanks Father Mark God bless!
AMEN!
Love that one, probably my favorite "cross" quote from Sacred Scripture...;)
Blessings. Shalom!
