I remember when I was like 9-10 I found one at the beach and wanted to keep it so bad until we found out it was a diamond back and sadly we have to give him up but I’m sure he had a very happy life where he went
Interesting, very informative. Really wanted one but didnt realise just how much went into the care. I dont have the tank capacity and the filtration would be costly. Thanks for the helpful video.
For the tank size wouldn’t 10 gallons for every inch long the shell work? Of course i would want to give them a tank above the minimum, but this is just what I’ve heard works for all turtles. (It would be different for more than one, but I’m talking about only one in a tank)
I recently ended up with one of these as a pet. My mom’s boyfriend bought 2 of these a few years ago but hes a horrible pet owner. One of them has already passed away from the horrible conditions he keeps them in. He gets pets like these and then leaves them to die. So i convinced my mom to give me the turtle to try to give it a better life. This turtles shell is severely disfigured, she obviously has something wrong with her. I want to nurse it back to health but it’s so expensive. My mom’s boyfriend had the turtle in a 10 inch by 10 inch cooler. Yes a cooler for drinks. The turtle didnt even have enough room to turn around. It was so sad, it would stare at is a white wall all day and night. There was no filtration and the water was rarely changed. He only kept like and inch of water in it so the turtle was never submerged completely. I now have her in a 10 gallon tank with a filter but i know this isn’t adequate. Im slowly trying to get a good tank together its just a money issue. Thanks for your help and if you can give me any tips for getting this turtle healthy let me know.
