    If you’re in New Zealand don’t bother with expensive retinol products. Just go to the Dr and get Retrieve which is Retin A . It’s a government subsidised medicine and costs a few dollars at the chemist when you pick it up. Virtually free.

      Is that only if you have a medical issue though? Just wondering if I can rock up to the GP and ask for Retin A. Getting bumpy skin now as I approach menopause.

    Used the DE A-Passioni for the first time a few nights ago and my face is not just peeling, it's burning! I've used the Paula's Choice and Sunday Riley retinol products before with no issue, so whatever's in this, it's strong stuff - proceed with caution people!

      lavien'estpasunlongfleuvetranquille that is so interesting. I’ve used the Paula’s Choice to heal acne marks and found it strong for my also sensitive skin and I was considering trying this. Definitely puts me off and the price!

      @@oliviabruce240 thankfully I got a sample, so I'm not out of pocket! If you do try it, I would definitely start by mixing it with a moisturiser or even applying it between 2 layers of moisturiser and working up from there and avoiding all acids while your skin adjusts (something I didn't do) - that's what a youtuber who had the same problem recommended - better to be safe than sorry, as it'll take me weeks to get my skin back to normal.

    Great video. That Clinique “system” just had me thinking of all the packaging waste. But I guess probably no worse.
    With all the “stable formulas” I do hope brands start offering refillable products some time soon.
    Makes sense for department store brands. Keeps you coming back in person to be upsold and they can no doubt save money on the logistics/selling you gorj reusable packaging.

    Note to Kate Somerville: Scented products do not equal a pleasant experience, wether your skin can tolerate it or not. Some people just aren't into fragrance. Here in California people are very aware that fragrances can be very bothersome and flat out unhealthy to sensitive individuals. I don't know a single person who wears perfume. I refuse to use any skincare products that contain any form of fragrance, including essential oils. I'm frustrated by the dearth of cosmetic companies making 100% fragrance free products. I read ingredient lists and find products that could be really amazing without the fragrance. Just Take the essential oils out guys! There really is no reason to put fragrance in your products unless you want to alienate a huge group of potential customers. Nadine, I really enjoy your vides. Thanks! :)

    • @spinstercatlady
      @spinstercatlady 6 років тому +3

      I personally love a beautifully scented product, and definitely prefer scented to unscented. Essential oils work very well on my skin, so I gravitate towards brands like Darphin and Kate Somerville. Imo unscented products are just so boring, and I couldn't imagine never wearing or using ANY fragrance as scent is one of our most powerful senses. Most companies make sensitive skin ranges that are unscented for those that prefer it, but there's still a vast majority of consumers that enjoy some scent to our products and so they have those in their range as well. By removing all fragrances they'd be alienating a huge market as well.

    Brilliant intro into the year ahead, thank you. Take a look at Dr Davin Lim an Australian dermatologist who
    says don't waste your money on retinol eg. Drunk Elephant because you can get better "bang for your buck" with retinoate (more active ingredient) on prescription at half the price of the fancy nancy brands. Anyway, look up Dr Davin Lim he is very good with his info just like you. All the best for 2k19.

    Hi Nadine, really enjoyed your reviews and would really value your advice on my current skin care regime if possible please. I am using Obagi Blender with Obagi Tretinoin Cream 0.1% each night. In the morning I'm washing with Shiseido white lucent brightening cleansing foam followed by a vitamin C followed by Obagi Exfoderm. I'm almost 55 and have found this regime to be beneficial but would value your thoughts on the above please. I peel a lot which on the one hand is great however can be inconvenient as this shows through makeup during the day. Is there a product that will help remove the flaky skin to allow a smooth skin for makeup application and is there a foundation you would recommend for flaky skin? Thank you in advance, really appreciate it. Best regards, Anna

    For the Drunk Elephant Retinol Cream... I have been using 1% The Ordinary and then also now 1% Garden of Wisdom, every night. No problems with flaking, dryness, or anything with either. Will the DE be THAT much different?

      from VH: "Directions: Use PHA Plus Serum AM and PM after cleansing skin and before other serums with the exception of Vitamin C Serum + Ferulic Acid which should ideally be used first."

    I thought retinol should be applied to a dry face. Are you using all your serums and hyaluronic acid well before applying RetinA?

    Good to see a mention of Epionce again. I use their Lite Lytic Tx (advised by Dr Sam) and it works brilliantly. Not sure I'd buy a wash though. /P

    I have always wondered if I should use hyaluronic acid before face oils or only water based treatments? I do tend to use oils more than serums during winter months and simply can't fit my hyaluronic (currently your favorite Multi molecular from NIOD) into my routine. Thank you x

      @virginiav.1172 6 років тому

      yes, hyaluronic before face oil as the oil will "seal in" the water-based product

    I've always felt that Beauty Pie did makeup dupes. The contour wand is just like the Charlotte Tillbury contour wand but way better for me colorwise. Their lip liners are amazing as well as their eye liners. I haven't tried Charlotte's but from hearing all the reviews, it seems like they must be pretty close. The new face compact is a dead ringer though for Charlotte's face palette.

    I've completely stopped using L'Oreál products due to the amount of denatured alcohol they have in products I used to use. It was third on the ingredient list on many products.
