Even without music it's still so good to watch! 👌 and Iam from Ireland, so emeralds are probably my favorite stone ☺ beautiful ring, I wish I could have lessons from you!!
i love the part when you put that emerald stone on, the finishing, when you carved that files on,very fragile stone , i enjoy every step of them..thanks again..i was learning this type of craft a decade ago, love it
LONG LIFE AND PROSPER ;)
What Skill They Have ,At This Moment They Are Making Me A 1oz Wedding Ring ,I Hope I Can See It Being Made ,Brilliant Work ,Thank You Morris Bywater Of Sheffield.
This video has really inspired me. I am taking my second class in making jewelry and I want to attempt something similiar in silver with a semi precious stone.
DUDE! your gifted.. It's jimmy again..OH I'M SO BUMMED.. I BROKE THE ENTIRE CORNER FROM A 2.5 TRILLION CUT CITRINE... BEAUTIFUL DEEP AMB....needless to say the ring and setting are now filled with turquoise cabochons....lol
like i said scaff you are awsomne!!!!!!!!!!!!!i would love to have one of your rings as an Elvis tribute artist man i wish i could somehow have you make one but id say its pricey!!! for shure
Did you use all hard solder on this? or did you use any medium or easy? I'm actually trying a similar technique of making the undercarriage of the ring and I'm having some trouble with pits and seams forming. Much respect to you though, you have obviously been doing this a very long time. I really hope I can be that good someday.
Thanks. Depends on the quality of the emerald, the gems that often use are owned by customers. A ring like that of the video costs about 700 euro (gold and manufacturing), plus the emerald.
@@scaffoal I am impressed with your English, so that is OK! In many of your videos you cut a wide band down, In this video, it happens around 5 minutes into the video. Do you have suggestions for making that cut with your jewelers saw blade? I struggle to do that on a curve. Hopefully, that helps explain. Thank You again.
Wow must say im very impressed with the handcrafts you posses and what a beautiful peace of art! What is the benefit for the use of this method contra making the peace in other material and then casting it in gold? Please bare with me I do to the fullest appreciate you skills :)
TQ Al Today I repaired a ring made of casting, she was cracked in four places. In a ring made of sheets rolled this does not happen. One of the many reasons ....
+scaffoal +scaffoal thank you for the quick answer and of cours that make so much sense. I emagin that the Molecular structure is much more tight with the rolled metal than a cast. Just like a modern hammerd rifle barrel contra the old castes canons :) thank you again and again. It's so inspiring to se handcraftment like this! I can watch it over and over again. And I have decided to try out this method with some scratch silver I have lying. :)
Honourable sirNamasteI see your practice & heart workBy heartly & soul I accept u a teacher, I learn many things tricks by your video, can u accept me your student
I would like to teach what I learned about my work in the future. Unfortunately for the time the laws governing work in Italy make it difficult to have apprentices. I should change the nation.
Two questions please. There was a waxy substance being melted and forced up into the underside of the ring. What does this do? Second, it didn't look like the setting was compressed to hold the emerald in, was there some adhesive or cement?
The wax substance is used to hold the ring in place while the setting is being finished and the stone is being set. And the setting was compressed to hold the stone; the raised edges of the setting were filed and then compacted against the stone with an automatic impacting tool at 20:00 until 20:30, as far as I can tell.
+scaffoal I actually want to get into this, I really do. I know where to buy everything, including cultured pearls, and even loose precious gemstones. How pure is the gold you're working with, and what gauge of gold sheet you're working with, if you don't mind. I see on RioGrande that 18K, 18ga, (1.02mm) is currently $306 for a 1" x 1" piece.. I could go with silver, but I'm drawn to gold because it's so expensive, and people tend to like gold more because it's more of a precious metal than silver. Really nice work btw, I really like how you made that ring, it's really nice, thanks so much for Sharing with us your goldsmithing skills. (+1 : 521)
I thought after when I see the finish product, same gold tone color every part, no soldering line or anything else :"D I'm dumb ! I do the same thing at hobbi, from copper, wood, sometimes silver and your working method really helpfull for me ! I really like to watch your videos, to see every tiny detail what you do. Thank you for videos !
Good morning I have A question about all the materials and the press you used to flatten the gold; What are all the tools, materials and machines used to make the ring in the UA-cam recording for the Emerald Gold Ring
How much does it cost to have this done? I have a 12.6 g and another of unknown weight (probably slightly smaller), along with 2 earring scrap 14K for my base setting. I would like a 5.45ct. oval opal that I want placed in a similar setting. I have no clue a to how much it will cost me to have one made for me.
+Shawn Bruce The opal is not a suitable stone for a ring like this, the opal is very delicate. The ring without the stone center costs about 700/800 Euros (gold and invoice)
+scaffoal or since you melt down your gold, do you just get gold nuggets or something and then roll them into sheets?? I am just trying to understand here. not trying to have a major blonde moment.
This is, by far, my favorite piece you've made. Yellow gold and an emerald is so timeless. Beautiful work.
thank you

Thanks so much for your videos! Any tips for the cut down of the ring around the 5m mark?

Do u prefer working with 18k gold? I know it is softer but I was just wondering if this is what ur customers ask for?
In Italy people like 18K,and it is very easy to work

Congrats! Amazing skills, scaffy! Please, how many mm have the sheets that you used?
thank you the thicknesses of the plate that I commonly use are from 0.70 to 1.5 mm

Please, how thick is the plate in 0:49 min., Alberto? And also how thick is the plate from which you made the bezel in 11:40?

What is the point in the wood block? Besides using it for making cuts. I am assuming its so you don't kill the saw blade but is there another purpose?
+Dana Blanche It is used as a support during the machining of parts, makes work easier, it prevents wear of the workbench
Ahh thanks! I have only really seen it used when people are working with fine metals. Wasn't sure.
What you use for soldering?
Softer gold or standard tin?
I use gold solder 18kt with lower melting temperature
I thought after when I see the finish product, same gold tone color every part, no soldering line or anything else :"D

you can find the entire list of styling tools used in jewelry on the site of Legorgroup products.legor.com/EN/division/3?cat_id=74
What kind of tool did you use at the end to push the gold over the emerald to set it?

ok so you didn't melt down gold to make this ring? Did you use pre gold sheets?
+Cole Griffin I melt plates and rolling them to the thickness of which I need
Oh ok cool man. I am really liking how you made your ring. Where do you get your plates at? And what thickness do you use to make your rings?
It depends on the type of ring, average it ranges from 0.60 mm. 1.80 mm
+scaffoal Oh ok I gotcha. Where do you get your gold sheets at?
+scaffoal or since you melt down your gold, do you just get gold nuggets or something and then roll them into sheets?? I am just trying to understand here. not trying to have a major blonde moment.

+amar sajid The diameter of the outer wrapper determines the final measure.
Why didnt you do comfort fit with an under gallery? You obviously believe in craftsmanship .Lovely ring.
