Those are the Northeast Regionals that continue south to Richmond, Newport News or Norfolk, VA. Most of the electric regionals from the northeast keep going south somewhere with diesel power.

I know what they are, I mean when did they actually start running down to Virginia? lol Last I heard, which was a while ago, they were still being planned.

Ya know, that's a great question. I have an old timetable from 2007 and they weren't there yet. Just a Newport News train. There's a press release online about "an additional" train in 2010. I'd say somewhere in between.
