Great reaction, Lovebites is awesome. You'll get recs for their other MVs like When Destinies Align, The Crusade, Golden Destination, Rising, but i think you should do We The United live from their Daughters of the Dawn Concert DVD from 2019. Not as fast or heavy as some of their others but a great live anthem type and it kicks ass. For Band-Maid, the Thrill video really shows how far they've come and would be cool to get that perspective. Then do Blooming or Rinne (both MVs) for something heavier and then the Daydreaming MV for something more power ballad-ish and arguably their best overall song. Another idea would be a double shot of Secret My Lips MV then Secret MAIKO Lips, their April Fool's Day alter-ego rendition incorporating traditional Japanese instruments into the original arrangement, all done in Geisha/Maiko (Geisha in training) style.
What’s up Champ? That guitar part you were referencing around 3:15 was actually Miku doing the kind of ambient, sustained guitar chords beginning at 2:34 while Kanami is in lock step with MISA. You’ll hear Miku in your left ear, Kanami in your right.💪🏻🤘🏻 Edit- That’s not a paint job on Miku’s guitar, it’s actually engraved stainless steel faced custom Zemaitis called Aces and 8s. She also has a Zemaitis V that might finally be available to the public and a pearl faced model called Ring Chess that she only plays at home now.
For the record. The awesome semi-dissonant part starting at 2:30 is actually everyone's favorite pigeon Miku playing! Watch the fretboards carefully at 2:38 :D.
That's my favorite of Miku's guitars. The Aces & 8's Zemaitis is just gorgeous. musicstorelive.com/zem-a24mf-ane-blk.html At the beginning I think Miku is singing the same notes as Saiki, but an octave lower. They do that fairly often, and later switch to Miku singing high and Saiki taking the lead lower when Miku starts doing harmonies. It's really a cool sound.

That's not paint on Miku's guitar. That's a Zemaitis engraved metal top, probably her Aces and Eight's one! She also has a beautiful pearl top Zemaitis and her latest metal top flying V.

Thrill is the most basic stripped-back-to-the-bones essence of the sound that would take them from the poppy softer rock of their very early days to a hard-rock sound. They were apparently on the verge of breaking up before that song, but everything from that point is the Band-Maid we know.
I also hear "pop" in this song, maybe K-pop or J-pop, as its primary influence. "Jazzy" I think it a good call however, it does call back to some jazz styles.
@@MidnighterClub Did you know that many long-time fans dislike Conqueror? They even state that they are "trying to go mainstream". Idk why, maybe they just prefer much more a hard rock/metal sound. I think, however, that Conqueror is their most sophisticated work yet. I don't want to sound pretentious, but for an open-minded listener like myself, I really enjoy the variety in Conqueror. Moreover, the overall sound of this record differs significantly from their past work. You could say the band has evolved, and I'm really happy about the results. Missed out on the online live but watched the one they did the day before Akane's birthday. The sound was perfect, saiki's vocal was the best ever, the only I grudge I have is that they didn't play wonderland.
This one is a super ear worm, the more you listen the more it's just sucks you in and makes you want to grove out to it. I've heard other commenters say this song was a Saiki vocal showcase and I really feel like that's true. If you're going to check out Thrill, I'd say check out the MV, mostly from a academic perspective because it really shows their "starting point" and how far they've come. I will always suggest to check out the Thrill and Alone MVs together. Thrill was their "break out" hit but it was written for them by the studio. Alone was the first song they were allowed to put together themselves. The contrast between the two is STARK and amazing when see comparatively.
Yeah. It's so sly for them to end this song this way though, it has the lingering aftertaste that makes you want more. This song is literally rolling in my head for weeks.
Love everything these ladies do. They haven't been released yet. But the slower and mellower songs, Page and Endless Story are gems from this show. Endless Story closes the show and Miku and Saiki give a short heartfelt and emotional speech to the crowd during the intro of the song. @@armynurseboy just saw the live version again. Is because each of them excels in their own way and it can be clearly appreciated. And yes is a fucking damn good song.
I love how Saiki almost is kulning at the 245 point. (it actually pops a little more in the studio version, though in total this is the better version.) But this is Saiki's standout from the album, by far. As for variety, listen to "Page", "Wonderland", "Bubble" and "Rinne" back to back. All off the Conqueror album. So much variety. For "Thrill", the MV is really the only choice, though it's almost cringey how uncomfortable Misa, Akane and Kanami look in it. Still a fun song, but damn have they come a long way. And Kanami's writing is 10x better than that stuff.
Thrill MV is the best version imo. it's their first MV and the video that broke Band-Maid out of the confines of Japan and introduced them to an International audience and also confirmed to the members the style they wanted to pursue. I love every member of Band-Maid they're simply MAGICAL a true tour de force in rock music. also best for MV's at the moment are Dice, Blooming , Rinne(heaviest song), Daydreaming(power ballad) and Alone(first song written by the band that was accepted by management)
Thing is why aren't they big yet? Are young people so f'd up they don't recognize real talent? I say young people because on them depends if these young bands can succeed or not.
Saiki's up there with Dreamcatcher's Yoohyeon, SNSD's Taeyeon and Unlucky Morpheus' Fuki as one of my top favorite female vocalists ever. Saiki is a goddamn goddess. Also, fuck yeah Kanami! She's an absolute joy to listen to. I really recommend the acoustic version of Anemone with just Saiki and Kanami. The way they harmonize and the emotions Saiki pours into that song...*chef's kiss*
I love literally every BAND-MAID song but for sure this is my favorite song! Again I love breakdown/analysis of songs! Great video! Can't wait for the next BAND-MAID song! :D
For Thrill it's a tough call. I always prefer their live stuff but that MV is kinda cool seeing as how it was their first MV and at that point it was make or break for them. They were getting close to calling it quits but they had massive success with that MV.
Misa, Kanami and Akane went to serious university-level music schools. They are classically trained and also have a lot of exposure to jazz and funk, and now it all comes out in their arrangements. In the middle of this song, Akane throws in some Samba rolls--as you said, she is extremely creative, not just a timekeeper.
This is a great BAND-MAID song, one of the best on this album. Honestly it took me a few times through to warm up to Conqueror, and this is one of the first songs I liked on it. And again, listen to NINGEN ISU. They are AWESOME.

Thrill MV I haven’t seen one live that I liked so far! Yes you have to watch and listen to thrill their first ever video btw to see where they started and how far they’ve progressed to now!
Among the many things this song showcases .. just listen to what Akane is doing in the background! That is pure mastery. Extremely flexible, creative and .. yeah, kinda jazzy. I have known them for years, I saw them live and had the opportunity to meet them (very shortly, but still!) and I still discover new qualities all the time. Every year they get better. There is no stopping these ladies. Can't wait for the online live next week! On another note: I always wondered what this reaction thing is all about and found it kinda stupid. I only recently started checking out some reactors because I was curious to see other people discovering Band-Maid .. and now you are one of only two I follow and watch every video of. I get it now and you really do an amazing job. Thanks!
I'd go for the MV just because it was the video that went viral for them. I heard someone claim that at the time "they" were thinking about packing it in if something didn't happen with that video..can you freaking imagine that!? No idea if its true but the thought of that makes me ill....lol As well, supposedly that is the last song they did not write themselves... Again, no idea if thats true but no reason to doubt it either. But that video was a pivotal point and for that reason alone it should be taken in imho... It's like not watching Babymetal Ijime, Dame, Zettai at Sonisphere in 2014 when 99% of the audience had no idea who they were, they were terrified they were gonna get booed off the stage, and everything seemed to be going wrong during the set including wardrobe malfunctions and yet they pulled it off....huge turning moment for them in the west...:)
Always looking forward to your band maid reactions. Can you do the MV blooming next? There is a live version from their Feb 2020 concert but their is no official release yet. They will also have an online concert on the 23rd this month. Kudos and more power to your channel.
Miku’s Guitar..... The dude over at Roadie Reactions talked about it. She’s playing a Zemaitis guitar. Very cool design. Kanami typically plays Paul Reed Smith guitars.
I wondered how I'd missed this reaction and just noticed that it's only an hour old lol. If you're doing Thrill go with the MV. It was their first and you can see how they have grown.
Another amazing jazzy sounding song. And it's on this concert DVD but not released yet. Is the song Bubble and it's a great fun video ! Saikis vocals are impressive on this song. But I think Miku is going note for note with her on it. And maybe even hitting higher octives !
Band-Maid are, in my personal opinion, legitimately the best straight-up hard rock band on the planet right now. And a big reason for that is their refusal to write the same song twice or limit themselves to a particular style. They bring in elements of various genres and always keep things interesting.
Try Band-Maid's "Daydreaming" ^_^ a beautiful slow song, one of my favorites from them :) check out the MV first because it has that nostalgic/sentimental vibe going, and then watch the live version to hear the beautiful additional piano intro ^_^
I do not believe there is a descent live version of Thrill right now but if you want to hear a completely different side of the band check out their two acoustic songs, Puzzle and Anemone (acoustic) and they have an alter ego version of the band call Band Maiko which has a heavier Japanese sound to it.
When Saiki is hitting those higher notes you can hear Miku harmonizing with her to make them sound even higher. Too many people think that Saiki is doing this all on her own when she really isn't.
Did you notice Miku's low pitch backup at the beginning during the harmony? She does it a lot. At times when you say you can't hear her is because she is doing the deep voice. For the next I prefer the song Alone just for the fact that is their first own making. Trill is ok
Oh is it over? Same as my reaction to most Band-Maid songs. Saiki needed surgery to remove polyps from her vocal cords, I think in 2017. Before the op she said she couldn't use her falsetto. One of the things I love about Band-Maid is their variety. They do so much and so well. The lyrics to some of their songs, including this one, are great. Miku the pigeon poet. Next, maybe Blooming for guitar shredding, drums and melodious harmony, Rinne (Reincarnation) for their heaviest offering, or the acoustic versions of Puzzle or Anemone. It is difficult to believe this is the same band and yet they all have the Band-Maid stamp. (Liked this and your Lovebites reaction. Keep 'em coming)
Kanami is a guitar genius not just as a Player but also as a composer and an Improviser and thats what makes a really great guitarist. She s like the japanese female Paul Gilbert but with more feeling and emotion.
I love this song so much. So many magic tricks thrown in in this jazzy piece. I'm always gravitated to something more experimental. Very intricate, playful, yet well structured and calculated. Band-maid is the only Japanese band who really does it...in my opinion anyway.
If you want different vibes....rock in me (Miku usually sang this when Saiki was having half time break) , Choose me (live), start over (pop song without solo), endless story, Band Maiko's Gion Cho, anemone (acoustic) ... if you want heaiver stuffs try Rinne, faster pace try Screaming... too bad you can only find good quality live from their official DVDs, Blurays. Gion Cho was only performed in Kyoto Japan gig where Gion is located. Apart from wonderland, there are also songs like Mirage, At the drop of a hat and Catharsis in new album.
For things from them that are different, try out "Gion-cho" ua-cam.com/video/umSt7oMUMcs/v-deo.html which is them with a different look (geisha) and a slightly different sound, due to them incorporating traditional Japanese instruments into their sound, as their alter-ego "Band-Maiko" Or try their first Band-Maiko track "Secret Maiko Lips" ua-cam.com/video/NNHGABwme50/v-deo.html which is actually a cover of their own song "Secret My Lips". Typically you'd do Secret My Lips first, but the good live version of that is another that didn't escape the youtube spring purge. The harmonies at the end of Secret Maiko Lips are quite something - I'd say their best.
Go to "Daydreaming" if you want something sweet, "Matchless Gum" if you want something off the beaten track (only released as a single extra track) with a little sultry rock feel, and a little more akin to the difference with "Manners". Nice reaction man. I came back to this one because I hadn't heard the song and avoided it before getting the concert on DVD. Great stuff!
Thrill.. tough to call, the MV is nice with the switching of their 2 older outfits (red and black). Live, well.... Band-Maid mostly is better live, not so always. But for now, only fan cams are found. This reaction is indeed different, but you get the feel they can do anything, any genre and still sound awesome. Kanami is a genius when it coems to composing. How she did Awkward, Matchless Gumm, Page and the other slower songs is just amazing.
Do the MV. While there is a good recording of a live acoustic show from way early in their career that has Thrill, it's miles away from what you'd hear from them today. For lack of better terms, I don't think they were done cooking yet - esp the vocals. Musically it's actually really interesting because they play Thrill in almost a jazz/Doobie Brothers fusion style. Really. That part I dig.
If you want to react to something different by Band Maid, check out "Rock In Me" it is sung by Miku while Saiki is on a break, live version is best of course. Think they play it at the end of Miku's Magic Time.
Wonderland is one of the most weird but great sound which showcase their talent in songwriting in my opinion. It's always good to react to their live performances, but watching their MVs are not bad too. Their MV shows them very clearly visually. So it's ok if you watch their Thrill MV. Want some other sounds from them? They do acoustic versions of their songs. For suggestions, Anemone and Puzzle at zepp Tokyo. But I would suggest you listen to the full band sound first though
Yeah, rock, metal, jazz, pop, funk, traditional, they play and fuse them all... For some funk try Bubble. For some pop/slow jazz try Start over. For some traditional try Gion cho. And for some arena rock try Endless story. Acoustic, try Anemone, Page, Puzzle acoustic. Power ballad, Daydreaming. Bluesy classic rock try The Dragon Cries.
They play masterfully any genre of rock. Most of their songs you can't classify them into one because they tend to mix a lot. The first song written by themselves that their company allowed them to record was: Alone: ua-cam.com/video/axF56i4spio/v-deo.html A must see.
The Songs by their Other Project Band Maiko Sounds COMPLETELY different they are called Gion Cho and Secret Maiko Lips They are amazing You gotto react to them No One Else has yet i am surprised actually.
If you want a different sound from them you could take a listen to their alter-ego band, BAND-MAIKO, which was sprung as April Fool's prank; Secret MAIKO Lips - BAND-MAIKO - ua-cam.com/video/NNHGABwme50/v-deo.html Original: Secret My Lips - BAND-MAID - ua-cam.com/video/1Vuca7V-5Ec/v-deo.html 祇園町 - BAND-MAIKO - ua-cam.com/video/umSt7oMUMcs/v-deo.html A Maiko is an Kyoto Geisha in training.
There is a song from the album New Beginnings called Shake That, could you react to this song. They do some things that seem out of place but are so cool.
Not sure you'll find a professionally done version of Thrill live. The MV works. Blooming though, need to do that one soon! And if you can find the live versions of Awkward and Daydreaming to get a lighter yet awesome feel for what they can do. Then there's Puzzle, Secret My Lips, Secret Maiko Lips, Don't You Tell Me...just anything and everything you can find.
Hey guys... my first ever reaction to Lovebites was blocked last night but it's back up today! Check it: ua-cam.com/video/PEDZ2UpMkHc/v-deo.html

I hope you do band maid album review someday. Do 'world domination' for straight hard rock. Or 'conqueror' for variety.
I have no words for how good Saiki is in this one!
Didn’t know what I thought at first of this song but now it’s grown on me like more than anything they’ve done yet, Damn they’re a great band
Kanami went to a standard university and majored in economics and management. Akane and Misa went to the same (two-year vocational) music school.
love this song its sooooo awesome the music video is great as well
This is a great BAND-MAID song, one of the best on this album. Honestly it took me a few times through to warm up to Conqueror, and this is one of the first songs I liked on it.
And again, listen to NINGEN ISU. They are AWESOME.
Thrill is a very early version of Band-Maid. It's one of my favorite songs by them. I usually go for live, but for Thrill, MV is the only way to go.
Everyone talks about Kanami's guitar but I think Miku's has one of the sickest paintjobs I've ever seen.
It is art
Miku’s guitar is a Zemaitis they’re engraved not painted!
@@TheChampOfMedium Yes it's art. Her Aces & Eights
www.zemaitis-guitars.jp/metal_front/antanus/a24mf_aces_eights.html
In the MV to Bubble (great song by the way) which is also from the last album, you can see one of her beautiful Zemaitis guitars up close. A now discontinued Zemaitis RING CHESS, what a sick look. www.zemaitis-guitars.jp/discontinued/cs24pf_r_chess.html
@@ernestnesbon Ah yes, the "Ring Chess" with the pearl and abalone encrusted top!. I don't believe I've seen her use that one on the road. Can't say I blame her if she doesn't.
And now she has the "Flying V" that she uses in the concert along with the KnotFest was canceled studio jam of Slipknot's Duality cover (warning, it IS a cellphone vid by one of their folks.. thanks Corona.... ) ua-cam.com/video/cr_sHCPNcg8/v-deo.html
www.zemaitis-guitars.jp/metal_front/mfgv22_bk.html
the reason why they play like this is because they can
Thrill MV I haven’t seen one live that I liked so far! Yes you have to watch and listen to thrill their first ever video btw to see where they started and how far they’ve progressed to now!
I was keeping my tabs on the lovebites video as soon I saw the notification blink twice, I'm glad it made the cut,
This sounds like the greatest music for a video game or an Anime
This song has a very unique riff to it and I like it
don't you tell MEのMVとLive versionも観てほしい🤗
Always looking forward to your band maid reactions. Can you do the MV blooming next? There is a live version from their Feb 2020 concert but their is no official release yet. They will also have an online concert on the 23rd this month. Kudos and more power to your channel.
How do you access it and how much is it?
Avenger07 bandmaid.tokyo/contents/329203
Its ¥1500 or around $14.
New subscriber. Great reaction and breakdown! Thanks for sharing!
Miku’s Guitar..... The dude over at Roadie Reactions talked about it. She’s playing a Zemaitis guitar. Very cool design. Kanami typically plays Paul Reed Smith guitars.
Great Reaction as always.
Miku is playing a Zemaitis C24MF thru a Mesa Booge triple rectifier. She is now sponsored by them.
Love your reaction sir, hope more band-maid in the future.
Do thrill live. That way you get the Miku that's actually involved in the song. The promo version was made before she skilled up on the guitar 😁
Try "Endless Story" and "Daydreaming". Also "Start Over" is a straight up radio pop song if you're interested in that style.
Great insight 🔥
When Saiki is hitting those higher notes you can hear Miku harmonizing with her to make them sound even higher. Too many people think that Saiki is doing this all on her own when she really isn't.
Did you notice Miku's low pitch backup at the beginning during the harmony? She does it a lot. At times when you say you can't hear her is because she is doing the deep voice.
For the next I prefer the song Alone just for the fact that is their first own making.
Trill is ok
Yes Band-Maiko should be next, different Band-Maid intake into traditional Japanese music. Hatoko po! 💝🎌👗✌
Funny, just before you said it was different, I thought to myself, It's jazzy...and then you said it. lol
Sorry to "Daydreaming", but "Wonderland" is now my favourite Band-Maid's power ballad/slow song. 😁
Daydreaming. I hope the live versions are out there somewhere
Kanami is a guitar genius not just as a Player but also as a composer and an Improviser and thats what makes a really great guitarist. She s like the japanese female Paul Gilbert but with more feeling and emotion.
They have a lot of softer stuff. Try Puzzle and Anemone acoustic live. Make sure its the two part with both songs though.
Apart from wonderland, there are also songs like Mirage, At the drop of a hat and Catharsis in new album.
bro they played wonderland to close out their live online show, was fucking *NASTY*
Try Play. Amazing Bass line at the beginning.
BAND-MAID- Rinne, it's FIRE!!!! Plz react bro!
They play masterfully any genre of rock. Most of their songs you can't classify them into one because they tend to mix a lot.
The first song written by themselves that their company allowed them to record was: Alone: ua-cam.com/video/axF56i4spio/v-deo.html A must see.
The Songs by their Other Project Band Maiko Sounds COMPLETELY different they are called Gion Cho and Secret Maiko Lips
They are amazing You gotto react to them No One Else has yet i am surprised actually.
If you want a different sound from them you could take a listen to their alter-ego band, BAND-MAIKO, which was sprung as April Fool's prank;
Secret MAIKO Lips - BAND-MAIKO - ua-cam.com/video/NNHGABwme50/v-deo.html
Original: Secret My Lips - BAND-MAID - ua-cam.com/video/1Vuca7V-5Ec/v-deo.html
祇園町 - BAND-MAIKO - ua-cam.com/video/umSt7oMUMcs/v-deo.html
A Maiko is an Kyoto Geisha in training.
If you want Variaty.
Check out "Rock in me"
Miku on lead vocals without Saiki
You want an uncommon Band-Maid song? Try "ハニー (
Honey)". Akanes drum beats are insane.
The Dragon Cries is like Wonderland but all in English. I don't think Thrill has a live version.
Have you Heard there song ( when The dragon cries ) it’s all in English it is a different style the MV I think you would really like it
Good reaction, I recommend you blooming by Band Maid
Listen to Daydreaming and Awkward for something a bit different from what you've been listening to so far. Also, check out Puzzle live.
If you want to see some of their more diverse songs check out Daydreaming, Page or Anemone.
Saiki did great singing here
That bass n vocalist the best from band maid i think for this song
