Yeah, and that's saying something considering the amount of amazing solos JP has done. Almost seems like he put in some extra effort because of the significance of the song.
This one, the solo that fades out in the ministry of lost souls, and goodnight kiss are my top 3 from petrucci with an honorable mention to his 2nd solo in acid rain from LTE
In my opinion, the final solo by John Petrucci, is the most beautiful guitar solo of all times ... Isn't a sad solo, it is a celebration of life ... I never seen a guitar solo so pure and real !!
This song gives me chills everytimes I listen to it. There is no perfection, but I do think this song is perfect. This song, just got something more than everything else. You feel every emotion in every part, every notes, every mesure. And right now, I have tears again listening to it haha!
My favorite guitar solo of all times and I also think it's the best ever written, how the sections/parts of the solo flow and connect with each other is just beyond incredible. He is literally pouring his soul over that solo. Biased or unbiased it's just perfect in every aspect in my opinion. Petrucci is a genius.
In all my years of listening to rock and progressive rock, (50+ years!) I have never heard such an emotional, lump in throat guitar solo as John Petrucci's in this song. For years, I thought Jan Akkerman's solo in 'Tonmmy' from 'Eruption' on the Focus albim 'Moving Waves' couldn't be beaten for tons of emotion in playing, until I heard this several years ago.
I remember going to the record store with a friend to buy DT after hearing " pull me under". My friend bought " Nirvana" after hearing " smells like teen spirit ". I have been listening to " hell's kitchen" lately.
I suggest you should listen/react to the entire Metropolis pt. 2 album as it is a concept album and after that you can react to their LATEST album 'Distance Over Time' Will be waiting..... And I really enjoy you guys reacting to Dream Theater 😘
Check out Nightmare to Remember if you have not already. Also, more Distance Over Time like Barstool Warrior. FYI, JP just announced a new solo album after 15 years! Can't wait! Most likely in the Fall 2020 Portnoy plays on it to top it off!
You're right, that's what drags the song down for me. Nothing to see there as far as singing goes. But the music is wow! And THAT solo?!? You gotta be kidding me!
Part 2: ua-cam.com/video/3S0nxkYIVHA/v-deo.html Such an amazing song! Beautiful and so packed with emotion. Thanks so much for watching!
That solo will make a grown man cry! Pure musical genius!
The guitar solo at the end is one of the all time greats.
So so good!

Epic guitar solo. It matches the emotion of Chris Fry in Magenta's Warning. ua-cam.com/video/pJcbbXoaqQQ/v-deo.html
I think JP guitar solo part's name must be changed. The best of times -> The beat of alltime

L’assolo di chitarra più avvincente che abbia mai avuto la possibilità di ascoltare!

Portnoy plays on it to top it off!
IMPERIALE
Never thought of it, but when it kicks in with the guitar it has some Spirit Of Radio vibes from Rush.
I agree cross between spirit of the radio and red barchetta
John Petrucchi's crowning glory.
that solo...was.....kill all the guitar solos.....
1:07 Hate to see those frown lines on anybody :( Wish you all the best. *never trapped* :P
If you like the more heavy DT, you should listen to the album "Awake" from 1994
Please, react to GIFT OF MUSIC by Dream Theater with Kim (I guess that's her name).
The song as a whole is not one of my favourites, but the outro solo is awesome! Very emotional and with great tone.
Something wrong with whomever gave a down vote
Alip ba ta another day guitar cover is awesome
Please visiting deden gonzales, his covering steelheart song, its nice
And now TINA S cover : ua-cam.com/video/he7WgkbiWwU/v-deo.html
But, but Portnoy is just a technical shredder, his solos HaVe nO sOuL...
Ah yes, I love it when John Petrucci hands his guitar to Mike Portnoy to shred for a solo lol
The music is beautiful but the vocal melodies are weak. I'd rate this on the bottom half of the album.
I can see that. I think the emotional aspect is what makes it good. On a whole I really liked it. And yes, that solo is pure 🔥
You're right, that's what drags the song down for me. Nothing to see there as far as singing goes. But the music is wow! And THAT solo?!? You gotta be kidding me!
