This is so epic Fran! I loved the cinematic aerial footage and the cinematic soundtrack and SFX. It gave me the chills while watching it. Loved seeing the soaring mountains in Bariloche ❤😊

Very nice footage Franco! I have a few questions about your camera settings on the Mini 4 Pro. Do you use nd filter, if so which brand? Do you use D-log M? In which fps are your clips shot at, 24, 25 or 30?

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delayed response. I’m using the STARTRC ND filters but recommend Freewell better. Typically I use an ND64 for sunny days (morning til afternoon) and 16-8 on very clear afternoons and sunsets (otherwise at that time I don’t use NDs).
Always shoot on D-log M with color assistance (to have a rec709 real time conversion preview). Also, 24fps and 1/50s aperture speed to achieve smooth motion. Aperture I NEVER change for video so I only adjust ISO when needed.
      Hope that helps!
PS: Uploading a really cool video next week so stay tuned for that one :)
And let me know if it’d be cool or of use if I were to upload tutorials on how I set up my drone and camera for shooting

Nicely shot and edited. Lovely colorgrade, marvelous nature! What soft did you use to edit? I also have mini 4 and I edit in Davinci Resolve. Are the geozones unlocked? The hight seems more than 120m. You said you used 709 color transform, doesn't it seem too dark? I use mainly D-Log + 709A and than manual colorgrade without luts. But woth checking that Matti Happoja. Thx!

Hey man, thank you so much for the kind words :)
I used premiere pro! Honestly I've heard amazing things about Davinci and am interested in trying it out (same thing with Final Cut), but since I'm paying the Adobe Suit I might as well stick to it (although I think it's universally panned by every editor and filmmaker I've talked to haha).
As far as the color, at least from the histogram I used in premiere I don't think I ever went below 0 or above 100 for dark and white (except maybe the last shot which looks very dark to me right now, might've missed it there). 709 conversion definitely tends to darker the image as it adds the contrast back to it (and it was a bit more noticeable in some shots because I was still using an ND filter in sunset and had to bump up the ISO a little bit), but bumping up the highlights afterwards helps and isn't that noticeable if you are shooting in D-Log.
If you shoot in D-Log and haven't done so before, there's an option in the Mini 4 Pro to add a color preview if you are shooting D-Log, which let's you know how the shot will look like when you add the 709 conversion. Hope that helps! :)

@.caputo Thanks for the detailed answer. I never worked in Adobe Premier/After Effects. Some time ago I used Sony Vegas but then tried Davinci and just fell in love with it.
I combine my Nikon z6ii (8 bit, dont have Ninja) and DJI. For Nikon I use 709 color transform, but for DJI stick to 709A, simce 709 is too dark for DJI. I tried HLG but didn't like how it goes alone with Nikon, so I stick to D-Log and yes, I use color preview, thank you. With nikon I use Variable ND filter. I bought a set of 4 ND for DJI but I don't use it, it make me more headache. May be to strong and ISO goes up, or to weak and there are overexposed footage. But I just though that since there is no fast movement I don't need that motion blur, so no I don't use ND and set shutterspeed to Auto. See no issues. But with Nikon, sure I always shoot 30 fps, 1/60 + ND filters set so the ISO is just about 150.

@@vavalexus no problem! :) if your DJI drone has a fixed aperture ring I STRONGLY recommend getting ND filters as you will absolutely need them to achieve the "cinematic" look with motion blur. Doing 24fps 1/50s shutter speed will look super bright in daylight otherwise. Your go-to time to film without ND filter would be right about when the sun is starting to go down. I usually do 24fps 1/50s and 100 ISO with a ND 64 and it looks freaking awesome!

@@franco.caputo Mini 4 pro has fixed aperture indeed. And I have bought DJI filter set, it is 16/64/256. Who ever might need 256? I would prefer 32 instead. 64 is an overkill, ISO may be too high when you flight from the sun into the shadow, while 16 may be too low in sunny weather. I tried shooting and was not happy with ND 64 because of the noice. I can allow high iso on my full frame camera, but due to the tiny CMOS of DJI I want it to be as minimum as possible. Furthermore I don’t shoot action with the drone, only some additional landscape views to my “land” camera. So I asked myself the question, with very low movement footage, will I see the difference between 30 fps 1/60 + ND and 30 fps 1/256 no ND? No, I think you won’t see that blur with no much fast movement at all, but will always have to worry if the ND selection is right and you won’t get your footage ruined.
If you shoot with FPV drone, that’s different story, there must be a ND filter, but in my case, I don’t see how it can improve the perception of the video.

Thanks so much man! You’d be correct! I filmed in D-log with Matti Happoja classic LUTs as I didn’t find any DJI Mini 4 Pro made LUTs I liked, though I still used DJI’s REC 709 conversion LUT before applying Matti’s.
      Hope that helps!
