The ditches are quite deep as there is not much of a bottom to this ground in some places you can push the bucket down and go 6ft or more,it is virtually the turf on top that keeps you up,you wouldn't really want to take a wheeled tractor there when it's this wet,the ditches need cleaning once a year
@earthmover666 Thanks...the river level is up as we have had a fair ol bit of rain lately,not as high as it can get,as this area can be under water when we have a lot of rain.

had an operator of e/a in big trouble recently when dredging .he smeared the bank and nearly lost his job over it,damn environmentalists,cant nip the toe of the bank when reed cutting,no smears when dredging,its getting ludicrous
jon, what do you mean by 'smeared the bank'? Are you talking about not removing the spoils, or something else. (I've never done any remediation work, so I was just curious.)
no,as he pulled the spoil from the stream he allowed the bucket to smear the bank just as the guy in the video is doing except we are not allowed to because of english heritage and some stupid environmental bulshit they come up with..our spoil has to leave the stream and be deposited away from the top of the bank without covering any part of the bank.hope you can understand that,its about as clear as mud ahem
jon bailey Too funny, I'm sure someone sat in an office building talking about this for years on end before coming up with that rule. B-( I can't see how it would really make a difference. I've worked dry areas before, but never wet locations, as the rules we have in the US are pretty off the wall as well.

haha,it seems its okay to let floods ravage the community rather than upset the water voles who will as we know just carry on regardless.
