"Dakshinamurthy Stotram - Day 01/13" Talk by Swami Aparajitananda, Chinmaya Mission Mangaluru.

Swami Aparajitananda introduces us to the Dakshinamūrti Stotram from a scratch.
Explaining that Dakshimūrti is the form taken by the Lord to grant Spiritual Knowledge, Swamiji busts the myth of many gods in Hinduism and elaborately discusses why there are so many forms of God when there is only one God. He goes on to decode the philosophical concept, spiritual teaching and symbolism behind a number of forms of the Lord, their consorts and vehicles on a sample basis before dwelling upon the form of Shrī Dakshinamūrti Bhagavān with the faith and confidence that if the Lord has taken a form to give spiritual knowledge, then that form must have answer to everything related to Spirituality:
• What is the source of knowledge? The book in one hand signifies Vedas - the source of knowledge.
• What is the content of this Knowledge? Chinmudra of Dakshinamūrti Bhagavān signifies the content of this Knowledge in essence (shifting attention from the 3 in us to the 1 in us). Chinmudra is explained elaborately also touching upon approaches of Jñāna and Bhakti and concluding that dropping the ego is our Sādhanā.
• How to practise Knowledge? Japamāla - abhyāsa i.e. constant practice till the knowledge becomes a habit, natural and spontaneous to us.
• Result of this Knowledge - Fire (which stands for destroying ability, purifying ability, unifying ability and self-illumining ability) is explained in detail.
• Total control over sense organs signified by the vīrāsana posture.
Two other names of Shrī Dakshinamūrti Bhagavān - "Ashtamūrtibhrt" and "Sadāshiva" - are shared along with the detailed meaning of each name.

Fascinating philosophy of ,'Chin Mudra ' to connect to higher self.
Brahma,Vishnu, Mahesh,Ganesh ,Hanuman or Dakshina Murthy.
Each God or Goddess has spiritual message in form of a deity.
It is for us to see the form,contemplate and decode the message.
Devotion,knowledge n inner awakening all come in a package.
Four hands of Dakshinamurthy hold Vedas,Japmala ,fire and through Chin Mudra teaching is done in silence.
Sitting on Virasana ,attaining samadhi effortlessly, in control n balance.
With total humility ,surrenders index finger with thumb in unity.
Then knowledge destroys avidya,karam,vasna n jeevbhav instantly.
Chin mudra Connects Jiva with Brahman.
Removes ignorance and all delusions.
When head n heart (Jnana n bhakti) merge perfectly.
'Jiva Braham Aikyam 'is experienced through infinity.

Om NamaSivaya Respected SwamiJi, you have blessed this one beyond measure🙏. Many thanks. Not in the spirit of argument or debate, just a question but I do wonder perhaps the right foot down does bare significance. He reminds me of Shiva Nataraja very much, only he is seated. Even the jewelry on both of Their right legs match. Even in Chidambaram Temple He is there just inside the South Gate. He holds the damaru in His right hand and fire in His left, just like Nataraja. Only His two front hands make different gestures. I don’t know yet if the asura under Dakshinamurty’s right foot is Apasmar by name but he looks like Apasmar and also looks like the asura who accompanies Bhikshatana. All three forms seem something like sentences in the same story. Just some small thoughts. 🙏 Thanks a million for how you have blessed this one🙏🙏🙏 Jai Bhaktavatsala Har Har Mahadev!
