Mathew Knowles spoke to VladTV about his new book, Racism From the Eyes of a Child, where he spoke about dating either light skinned women or white women exclusively. He went on to speak about how he thought Tina was white when he first saw her, but later realized that she was a conscious black woman.
Moving along, Mathew spoke about Kelly Rowland living with his family for 8 years and also about the racism he witnessed in the music industry, including favoritism toward lighter skinned artists. To hear more, hit the above clip.

pink1237480 yes Amerie was not mediocre and was very talented (still is)! I have her on my playlist. It’ll always be outliers in conversations surrounding colorism in the music industry for various reasons outside of skin complexion. However, I am discussing the broader issue of how there are more short lived darker skinned artists compered to lighter and fair skin artists; women to be more specific and as he named in the video. That’s not to say that most fair and light skinned women aren’t talented because Amerie, Mariah Carey, and Amel Larrieux are very talented! Although even those artist can recognize their privilege and advantage over artists with darker skin and Afrocentric features. People gaslight this idea and don’t like to call a spade a ♠️ when this issue spans beyond the music industry and is perpetrated in every community across the globe.

Preference can be based on color just like it can be based on weight, eye color, SHAPE, hair and race. Its only colorist if theyre doing it for a negative specific reason such as wanting lighter kids or they think lightskin is superior and etc. If a man has a preference for big booties thats fine but if he has a preference for light skin thats colorist. So what if he prefers "chocolate" women...is that colorist too?? or is it only colorist when light skin is preferred??u make absolutely no sense

I know most of you all are not familiar with Dionne Warwick but she sang like a white woman and the orchestration behind her was more symphonic than soulful. The false sense of reality that colorism can create for light skinned people can be very unreal to witness and experience.
I recently met a light skinned dude who honestly I couldn't really tell was black until he spoke. But his self confidence felt more like arrogance and it was unreasonable and illogical imo. Calling himself pretty every 2 seconds but yet I was squinting to find the cute in him let alone pretty🤣. And I noticed he spoke to me very differently than that of a yt person. Turned me completely off and taught me a good lesson.

Ppl never say the whole saying..it goes " the darker the berry the sweeter the juice but if its too black it gots no use" and if you know fruit this is true. However in ppl not so I admit colorism is a thing. I have never been affected because I am a honey brown cinnamon color so never go the high yellow advantage nor sorrows and teasing, nor did I get darkskin praises or woes/troubles. I have heard darker women go on a tangent about lighter women and heard lighter women talk about dark women. I have seen the agenda of mainstream standards of beauty but I've always been regarded as pretty, beautiful, etc so idk I have seen ugly darkskin ppl and ugly lightskin ppl but beauty is subjective however all races should throw out eurocentric ideologies and self hating practices

I like the comment where M. Knowles states that the average person does not understand actual research vs emotions. That statement is so true because no one person likes everything, so their attention is geared towards things that interests them. However, when one does research they must find material on a certain subject whether is interesting or not.

Why is it so hard for people to understand the idea that in a world that has TRADITIONALLY taught that black is bad it wouldn't be easy to find success in media the darker you are. Hell, in Westside Story they had the white actress who got the lead tail the actual Latina actress to learn how to "act" like a Latina woman because the studio refused to cast one in the starring role smh.

If your referring to her car accident which people nastily call her a murderer for or when she was forced to pretend that she was married by her management team. That isn't valid. Massive Beehive member here 👋 Beyonce is so incredibly lucky she has her mother Tina in her life. I can see how hard working and determined Matthew is but he is disrespectful and at times kinda shady. Beyonce really only has the attribute of hard working from him other than that they are clearly opposite. Tina must have had the patience of a saint because Matthew while I respect him and I am sure he had reasons as to why he's like that. But truly I think it's so incredible how Beyonce is so gracious and humble it must of come from her mother.
    Thank uou Tina!!

This is why is so important to go around labels and create, make and produce your own music! It's possible and there are artists doing it. Which is why they are stalked by record labels. If they don't want to pay US, then eliminate them all together!
