Sorry for your loss brotha. Mine passed earlier this year and I got handed his 190 that I grew up watching him use. He showed me it'll drop a deer at a good distance and taught me to never underestimate one
Great video! thank you. Like you, I got my Winchester 190 for my 14th Birthday in 1973. It's been a great little gun. I am going to get it out tomorrow and check that barrel. Never had a misfire with it. I did have to replace the guide pin a few years back, the original nylon one broke. I replaced it with a metal one from Numrich. These are great guns and shoot with little care.

It is challenging getting that spring back, but I used what has become known as the two-screwdriver method. It worked just fine for me.

Thanks for the video. I inherited one from my uncle. Don’t think it was ever fired before I got it. It works well, but I was just looking for problems common to this model for future reference. Just saw another video on how to get the pesky bolt spring back in after disassembly.

Jerry it was Remington gun oil in a spray can. Had it forever so I don’t know if it is still available. Boiled linseed oil would probably do a better job protect the wood. Thanks for watching
I had a 190 that misfired. My issue was inside the reciever there is two groves one for the extractor one for the firing pin. Those two groves on each side of the breach gets gunked up causing ur bolt not to seat all the way forward. I learned this lesson the hard way. I replaced firing pins. Springs. Then entire bolts. Before i realised this. Hope it helps someone
My first gun at Woolco for 60 bucks in 1974. Bought it with my own money. Probably could have found a nicer used Winchester for that money but I was just a kid. Still, it was a great gun and I shot it till the nut came loose🙂
