I was a full member of zcc, that movement is not a church but a cult. A lot of things about zcc is written in the Bible but members they don't read the Bible or they are very much ingnorent. Good talking points there brother, appreciate the dialog you opening up. Just on your first point, biological lineage is quite common in the Bible. You'll remember that Christ is a direct descendant of king David. God made a promise to David that He will always favour his descendants because David was a faithful servant. Over and above that, I'd say a family church is not at all taboo in Christianity. It's a matter of grooming your own family to propagate the culture of teaching the word of God when you are late. Also, from a legal stand point, church may be a form of estate. That means it is eligible to be entered into a will of the current estate holder. The current estate holder does hold the right to nominate inheritors of parts of the estate. On the second point, I think you are 100% on the money. God is available to everyone and anyone whenever wherever. I just think this does not discredit spiritual leaders and prophets. As we know the spirit of God manifests in different ways for different people, some being prophets and some interpreters of dreams, while some may have the inclination to preach to others about the Word. If church members believe their spiritual leader is gifted in terms of leading them spiritually and they see the evidence for themselves then I see no problem in that. In terms of the point you made about members believing that their leader is a form of intermediary between them and their God, that may be the case according to your experience. In my experience the belief is that members pray to their God for themselves, and believe that their Bishop is also praying to their God with them, so intercession instead of intermediation. I personally pray for my own family, even though I know they pray for themselves too, probably for me as well. In his letters, Paul is quoted saying "we will pray for you". That does not mean Paul is the intermediating entity. On the third point, religious articles are as old as religion itself. This is not a zcc feature, it is a religion feature. Other denominations have crosses, others have thorn crowns, others wear robes, others cover their faces etc. Badges and waist twine in the zcc are no different in their purpose to what Apostle Paul's handkerchiefs represented for the people back then. Lastly to your 4th point, it sounds to me that members might have along the years exaggerated consequences to scare or deter other members from damaging church property or image. I dnt feel like that's particularly true that the church itself says they will kill you or make you mad if you do ABC. However we must keep in mind that non-believers take a similar stance to yours in terms of hell. They say hell is just a scare tactic to to trick people into believing in God. I think you and I can agree that hell is definitely real, and it is a consequence of doing something which is not in line with what God wants. That being said, I imagine God does not want us to tarnish the work that his servants are doing... might not be physical death or insanity but I think it's logical to assume there is a consequence.

I was a full member of zcc, that movement is not a church but a cult. A lot of things about zcc is written in the Bible but members they don't read the Bible or they are very much ingnorent. Just on your first point, biological lineage is quite common in the Bible. You'll remember that Christ is a direct descendant of king David. God made a promise to David that He will always favour his descendants because David was a faithful servant. Over and above that, I'd say a family church is not at all taboo in Christianity. It's a matter of grooming your own family to propagate the culture of teaching the word of God when you are late. Also, from a legal stand point, church may be a form of estate. That means it is eligible to be entered into a will of the current estate holder. The current estate holder does hold the right to nominate inheritors of parts of the estate.
On the second point, I think you are 100% on the money. God is available to everyone and anyone whenever wherever. I just think this does not discredit spiritual leaders and prophets. As we know the spirit of God manifests in different ways for different people, some being prophets and some interpreters of dreams, while some may have the inclination to preach to others about the Word. If church members believe their spiritual leader is gifted in terms of leading them spiritually and they see the evidence for themselves then I see no problem in that. In terms of the point you made about members believing that their leader is a form of intermediary between them and their God, that may be the case according to your experience. In my experience the belief is that members pray to their God for themselves, and believe that their Bishop is also praying to their God with them, so intercession instead of intermediation. I personally pray for my own family, even though I know they pray for themselves too, probably for me as well. In his letters, Paul is quoted saying "we will pray for you". That does not mean Paul is the intermediating entity.
On the third point, religious articles are as old as religion itself. This is not a zcc feature, it is a religion feature. Other denominations have crosses, others have thorn crowns, others wear robes, others cover their faces etc. Badges and waist twine in the zcc are no different in their purpose to what Apostle Paul's handkerchiefs represented for the people back then.
Lastly to your 4th point, it sounds to me that members might have along the years exaggerated consequences to scare or deter other members from damaging church property or image. I dnt feel like that's particularly true that the church itself says they will kill you or make you mad if you do ABC. However we must keep in mind that non-believers take a similar stance to yours in terms of hell. They say hell is just a scare tactic to to trick people into believing in God. I think you and I can agree that hell is definitely real, and it is a consequence of doing something which is not in line with what God wants. That being said, I imagine God does not want us to tarnish the work that his servants are doing... might not be physical death or insanity but I think it's logical to assume there is a consequence.
