Man I love what these kids doing nobody lost all good work from all three programs coming from a former MDFS member 86.
I’m really proud of Famu them boys really played well and sounded good the “Z” is really taking it to the next level. Cookman will always be Cookman which is a Great thing sudden impact is the standard….and FLO-MO is something serious. I just appreciate this Florida excellence, and lastly I wish EWU could have been there thou because AZ is awesome.
I love me a good Drumline battle!
It was so good seeing famu at a event!
Just to see FloMo where they are now warms my heart. I remember we didn’t even have a marching band when I got there in 2003. We only had a pep band and played at the basketball games. I love it
It was great that these HBCU’s showed up and showed out for the community, middle school and high school band drum lines that battled! It was a great event inside and out!
I like the diversity of FAMU candences… Cookman repertoire has always sounded the same.
FMU is a DOPE line!!! They would upset ALOT of lines in the MEAC/CIAA/SIAC…
@@dontaviusseaborn282 I grew up in Florida hearing most of those cadences. They weren’t all super old, some were Moe recent cadences. My problem is they all sound the same.
This was great to see. All these FL HBCUs have great lines.
Good exchange from these lines! Amazing material.
Man BCU just sounds better. Good battle overall. Famu did well. Give FloMo a year or two.
Hail Wildcats NOTHING MORE NEEDS TO BE SAID. Great job all to all of them. FMU y’all little but you all brought your A game
You do realize that Cookman and Famu have 2 different styles. Famu has always played traditional with a style called the Moeller technique definitely not an easy concept. All 3 schools did a great job 👏🏾
FMU held it down. Those toned bass drums from fam was 🔥 Especially on that 2nd cadence
Very good work 4sho, we battled BC in the old dolphins stadium back in 86 and had a blast VSU DRUMPHI
Great battle and phenomenal material from each program but Lawd knows it’s hard for me not to laugh when FAMU starts twirling those hi hats 😂
@@Kc20243 when the cymbals choke in a way that looks like a high hat i believe not 100%
@@Kc20243 it’s a type of cymbal. While most hbcu cymbal lines are marching with 20 inch crash cymbals, FAMU’s cymbal line seems to be marching with smaller hi-hat cymbals
@@Chris.M96 That's because of the style we march and the things they do with the cymbals. Our marching style is very different and demanding. So it works for them
❤❤❤❤❤
I love the fact that FAMU has a heavy set white young man as the center snare this year!!!!! It shows the change in diversity that is to come over the next few generations!!!!
That is a HUGE statement for all the PWI schools that don't give props where they are due... He is still getting a education and not ONLY that but he is doing what he lives and is doing it on a VERY HIGH LEVEL!!!!!
❤❤❤❤❤
Sudden Impact won this one
Sheesh that cookman walk down tho 🤣😅
Bcu on top 💪🏾💯😈
I think it’s the richness of the grooves that fam has over anyone. Cookman has always been tight & very refined. But they grooves taste store bought. Famu’s taste like soul food. ESPECIALLY IN PERSON.
If I closed my eyes & just listened. One always wins the rhythm battle & the other always wins the execution battle..
Salute to all 3 schools
Bcu
Cookman, FAMU and FLOMO amazing
Sudden Impact ALL DAY!!!!
FMU surprisingly raw asf don’t sleep
Hands down BCU!! But they all were entertaining! HBCU’s are the Best!!!
🔥🔥🔥💥
Great video!
BCU: Coming from a long tradition history I expected that level of precision from SI. Definitely clean, while playing nostalgic cadences
Flo-mo: First time experiencing this drumline. I like the direction it going, some positive critiques, snares, clean it up…practice a slower BPM (y’all have great material) but what good it it to have complex rudi when it’s muddy? And also play “through the drum” I see fl-mo being a drumline that will have the ME AC on the lookout!
Famu. Not a fan of their style. So I don’t have much to say. Their tenors are probably the cleanest thing I heard from them in a while. I’m impressed.
Okay, I say BCU took it, I don’t like the way he counts off though, kinda corps style, count off with just the snare only. I wished that NCAT(Cold Steel), Norfolk, and Benedict drumlines could’ve been, would’ve been too tough to judge then.
BCU is so good herefollowed by FMU! FAMU Z's need to get off those dinner plates!!
THOUSANDS BEAT!!!!!!!¡!!¡¡🎉
Why did they leave FMU out of the battle?
Not gone lie I thought BCU was going to run away with this but damn famu was clean.
BCU KILLIN’ ‘em, it’s not even close!
Is that white guy in front famu section leader?
He is doing a great job if so.
Fmu is going pass famu and bcu in a couple years. Love that band progression.
Yes he is. He graduated this year. This is not all of them and they did an amazing job.
Bcu got this one. Fmu 2 famu 3. Famu look way better than the early 2000s but cookman just look and sound better.
Now Terrance I know you went to cookman but let’s be real you can’t murder no one playing warm ups (6-8 groove) it’s a battle if the book ain’t strong say so …. I’m just saying
@@calebjackson6659 God bro be honest cookman was cleaner and played better and you went to FAMU so I know you a little biased LOL
@@terranceparker8838 they actually were not . And all of your cadence's sound the same very snare centric with cowbells
@@Kc20243 nice try Impact have a sound that's original not sounding like garbage can 🥫
@@terranceparker8838 no y'all dont yall TRY and copy right off.of dci except y'all are not as clean.Norfolk is better than y'all too
Whewww FAMU ❤
I think that famu is a good drumline famu is mostly my favorite but the thing is.........MY DRUMLINE TEACHER IS FROM SUDDEN IMPACT but I'm in 6th grade my band teacher thinks that sudden impact is better I think sudden impact beats famu only by tricks famu dont Relly do tricks but famu beats sudden impact by cadences like duck mouth its my favorite drumline cadences though I would say sudden impact 9/10 famu 10/10 respectfully
Noooo buddy.... Bcu use more hybrid rudimentary beats than Famu.. Famu does have a nice groove, just need to work on their snares. There were areas where they sounded dirty..
Never seen cookman block up this was a good battle
@@AccurateShotz2it only happens every few years the last times were in 2010 and then way back in 2000
Need the camera man to be further back so we can see all of the sticking and sequences without having to pan left to right or miss somethin
Cookman won no competition
Like if it were a boxing match two of the three left of a stretcher... respectfully. They all had heart I'll give them that!
Man listen FMU took that first round idgaf what nobody say they had the better groove and sounded better still watching rn though
groove theory is so 🔥
The white and orange line took this one!!
DCI quality 👌
No offense…but this is the first time cookmans book has felt outdated to me. Also, despite being good cadences, they aren’t the best battle material. I’ll give BCU the slight edge over fam because of the execution. But if FAMU had less dirt ot would be a different story.
I feel you on this. Even if they cadences were made this season they just feel like 90’s cadences.
Were you looking at the same video as everyone else? Cookman’s playbook was refreshing tbh
Famu drumline is Z28
🗣BCU
I got FAMU all day. Bethune always 🔥 though. FloMo did good too
Plus the stick drop
Hubba Z… period
FMU got pushed out😂 Great battle, still miles ahead the legacy SWAC drumlines.
FMU: Cleanest snares
BCU: Best bass drum line ( really nice splits) (surprised and about damn time).
FAMU: Really great solo's across the line.
Also, each school's quint/sextuplet was really good as well .
Now, FAMU snares... y'all can't play the hybrids clean and trash the 9 stroke rolls 🤦🏿♂️ ( I love the material though!). Also, the single tom have to step it up in play, probably the section's weakest subsection. Glad to see y'all have some 18 inch cymbals too, sounds better.
Overall best section: BCU
Snares have to rough spots though, that need to be worked.
I seen a UFO 20 min mark lol
BCU got swagg. The only thing I takeaway from FAMU is they Zs gotta be bigger than them 16s they swinging. Give ‘em some 20, 21s. So they can Swang them thangs. Ain’t nun like some clean dubs.
Fam all the way🔥
Them little cymbals 😂 they sound good tho
If EWU was there, they would have gave BCU more competition 💯
You're kidding right? Or,,, maybe you forgot to post your punch line because no way you're serious.
BCU > FMU > FAMU
Famu cut cookman butt in this video
I never thought I would see a day where FAMU not only had BCU shook ( they had to walk closer) but out performed them🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@diligent no the other line which was Fmu left.. Famu moved up right after they left... be real, man... I understand Famu done got their groove back.. but don't make them more than what they are.. I remember back in 2012 while marching with Bcu.. there was no marching 100 to even battle... stay humble.. thats what will get one far..
Shiiit yall cap bcu better leave dem folk alone 😂😂😂😂😂
Bcu good but it’s easy to be good when you’ve been playing the same cadences 10+ years😭.
Those are not the same Candaces.. a couple of them were from features.. from previous fla classic.
@@treymitchell4090 so were they not over 10+ yr cadences ? Im confused
Yall meaning within 10 years' time or all being 10 years old.. within 10 years' time, yes.. and Get twisted is the only real one that is over 10 years old.. Also our cadences don't stay the same... and this doesn't need to be a debate.. because Q Smith is way older than all those cadences... but I still enjoy hearing it.. even though I'm a wildcat..
Bro had the nerve to call us out for playing old cadences when FAMU literally played a cadence from 1996. Relax.
Anyway. Cookman with the dub. Again…
All of these lines was playing scared.
FMU sound better than FAMU
look at these 2 meac bands😂. Famu about get whooped by the boom at the OBC and bcu is a pwi with a 1980s book.
First know how to spell “FOREVER” before talking shit😂 u probably a clarinet player just talking😂
This was like a brothers fight lol. They were “excuse me lil bro (Flomo) but this has nothing to do with you.” Lol long overdue
I love this team And. The Ant❤️💞 duh
