Especially Dave Thomas who should have got a lot of caps but didn't. He was great at running down the wing, socks down no shinguards. At home they were always watchable. A London copy of Wolves to me.
Those images of Bob Stokoe running on to the pitch in a Trilby hat, raincoat and tracksuit bottoms are great! Dress sense clearly wasn't a thing at FA Cup finals back then!
I love these uploads, i think they are more than football. It's a social commentary. The way Britain was, the clothes people wore, who kind of people who went to the matches. The level of football maybe not as good, but who cares ? The architecture and skyline of London is also interesting. The level of culture in the studio debate is much higher. I could go on. I was a child then. The England I knew has been lost forever.
What a rumbustious game! Tackles galore, no quarter given, players got up & either winced & glared or just carried on. Thoroughly enjoyed it, grit, sliding pitch, goals no idea I watched the tackles. Real football not fake football.
These were two teams that were in transition at this time. QPR had recently been promoted and were building one of the best teams they've ever had, one that was just pipped to the title by Liverpool a few years later. Chelsea had recently won FA and Cup Winners Cups and reached the final of the League Cup in the last three seasons. Now players from that team were leaving and they were heading towards relegation the following season. I used to follow both in those days but my first loyalty has always been to Chelsea.
QPR picked up great players from the big clubs ie Chelsea Arsenal, who let them go on free transfers as a thankyou. Stoke also got ex big stars but both also had or got youngsters & sold them to said big clubs.
Another fantastic upload. What about those restricted views with those Large pillar/posts behind the goal at Bramall Lane, Also that Collar on Malcolm Allisons Shirt. Keep em coming?
West Ham had the tightest goals I think depth of about 1.5 metres & jammed tight to the fans. Sad it's gone now for a huge stand they can't fill as Upton Park was always full & jammed tight when the big boys came to play. Such is progress.
Okay then who's the culprit who made red shirted Man Utd play orange shirted Wolves? A very obvious shirt colour clash. And then they make them play with a red football!!! WTF😮😮😮😅😅😅😅
That rangers team of the mid 70s - with francis and bowles pulling the strings - played some great football.

Dave Thomas,we were lucky to have him at Portsmouth. What a winger!
Dave Thomas my favourite QPR player ever
Thank-you.
I didn't watch these in the day. I'm grateful for the opportunity to see and enjoy them sixty years, or so, on!

I love it. Thank you very much!!

Great memories. Thank you. Come on you R’s. 2022 Tokyo
What a chelsea kit 👌
Love this channel - subbed!!🥰
Hard to believe that Clough would resign from Derby just 9 days after this show.

That shirt looks like something out of Allison Wonderland........
Just why was that rangers gosh disallowed?
Can't see from the tv angle but think Bramall Lane was still a 3 sided cricket ground, QPR ground is so tight the goal nets can hardly fit in.
Went to Loftus Road many years ago QPR v Arsenal and was in terracing behind the goal and couldn't see the goal line.

Sad to think all 3 now deceased
That's true. So sad. Three amazing characters
I thought QPR were in the 3rd Divison (along with Fulham) back in 1973. Is this a cup game or something?
They were promoted to the top flight with Burnley at the end of the 1972/73 season.
who was the keeper for Wolves ?
Phil Parkes I think.
@@seltaeb9691 don,t look like him , volume poor as well.
Commentator says it's Gary Pierce.- second choice to Phil Parkes.
@@hejla4524 ok thanks. Some of the progs have poor volume , can barely hear commentary. knew of G.P. but wasn,t 100% sure it was him.

Large numbers of Chelsea in the home end celebrate their early goal
but Rangers fans keep quiet,...wisely pretending they're not there.
Minds me of the ‘Wimbledon home end’ when watching highlights 1980s games when Chelsea use to score AWAY to Wimbledon.
