Only problem is game is instantly boring once you form super Germany, nobody can touch you and you just die of boredom. I find the struggle to be much more fun than to be on top.

Main thing is I'm not a fan of medieval stuff so CK & EU don't appeal to me but I was hoping V3 would be something like what I see/read about people playing those games with a not quite modern era. But I found myself staring at the "what type of production should this building be" and trade screen for 90% of the game, there was basically no flavour for any country, some of the mechanics and systems made no sense. One short example, why on earth do you need convoys to import warships, and why are warships so easy to import instead of a highly strategic resource that should probably require specific diplomacy efforts to enable you to buy from another country.

How I've always done the first war is before unpausing ally with Mecklenburg and what ever is the small nation north. Once they both accept do a puppet play on Denmark. If you cant immediately request an alliance at the same time improve relations till you can. You have to send the alliance request at the same time otherwise there will be a debbuf for already having an alliance. Then you can place 3 amies on the direct border and not even have to worry about naval landings.

Depends if the system is actually honest or not. But if they were the party would contain various factions making it effectively still a multi party system and likely "the party" would dissassemble at one point which sort of happened in his game a little bit.

I see that 8 months post release the game still looks pretty boring from a gameplay perspective. Diplo plays still make no sense and just why is it even in the game? War still makes no sense and just isn’t clear in a period that was defined by wars and conflict. World war over a treaty port in China? Why not. Literacy rates are just the modern excel file from the UN ported over into the game, and the elimination of the westernization mechanic was replaced with nothing, which doesn’t make any sense at all. After a while the game chugs hard and is as wide as a lake but as deep as a puddle. There was so much that could have been done that they chose to do nothing. Economy at all times is basically just a command economy, and they do nothing to differentiate the various economic ideologies nor model the different governments. Parliamentary systems vs Presidential systems vs autocratic systems, there’s no difference and its all just special interest groups. Mana points are still a thing -_- Just have everything related to money like in real life. Do advisors the way they are in EU4, where they cost money and give you buffs. Hire diplomats with the same modality. More money=More opportunity. The entire era was about resource acquisition and outplaying one another, but unlike Vic 2 closed economy where each good created is consumed, the open economy of Vic 3 is pointless. War, Industrialization, Diplomacy and Economy defined the era, and the game after so many patches still does a pitiful job. Frontlines as a concept in the 1800s didn’t exist, those didn’t start until trench warfare in the early 1900s and weren’t a true thing until WW2. It’s lazy coding, and the entire game reflects that. Everything was done poorly. And the game just plays itself without player input after 1870. You can just set it up and let it run. For $40, Imperator Rome Victoria 3 is a laughable game that has been called DOA because it was at best the fart left over from the failings of Imperator Rome combined with the bastardization of everything that made Vic 2 great. You can’t even select individual provinces and can only do things by state interaction. This game is everything that’s wrong with Paradox and how they deliver games and treat their customers. Like hot garbage that takes 6 years of extra development and $300 of DLC in order to be playable. No nations have any flavor whatsoever, everything was surface level. Every single UA-camr that shilled for Paradox on release said the same thing, game is pretty, and then they immediately ran into problems when trying to actually make the gameplay entertaining, its boring at best and dog water at worst. Why they charge more than $10 for this jpg of a mobile port I honestly don’t know
