After watching the video I'm curious though. What happens to your shadow if you lose it and are reincarnated? Would you have the wrong shadow upon regaining it or would it change to your new body?
Normal scarecrows are scary enough, but when they move... O.O Also it'd be interesting to learn how far back the "scarecrow comes to life" legends go. Is it as old as agriculture itself, or is it a more modern concept? Time for some Google-fu! :)
I was busy earlier and am very late as I lost track of the time and forgot a new video was coming it today. With as late as I am I am but a shadow of my former self.
I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the spoOoOoOoky dungeoncast! Good morrow once more good lords of knowledge and laughter! I thank thee once again for our weekly gracious boon of knowledge.shadows and scarecrows, such ghastly creatures. Shadows especially. One becomes two, two becomes four etc. They are a dangerous threat I have to be especially vigilant of.we're they to find their way into our cities it could be the end of our fair lands of knowledge and laughter. We haven't survived to onslaught of juiblex only to fall to walking silhouettes! Though I can't help, but pity them. Monsters not of their own making they are. Forced to join the ranks of the ghastly faceless undead simply for no other reason than being so unlucky as to die to another shadow. Well, enough pondering. I have guard duty to attend to and people don't protect themselves. I shall see you next week milords, sincerely as always dorian, your humble paladin. *he walked away into the night to take on guard duties patrolling the city. As he walked off into the night you can't help, but notice his shadow being cast by the full moons light is shaped oddly, as if it doesn't match his body* Well I don't have anything extra to talk about this week, so I hope my usual bit was entertaining enough to read. See you next week will and brian, hope you both had a good day.
You can tell Brian has played more than two characters because now he wants to play as monsters haha! I’ve noticed the longer my friends and I play, the more outlandish their Alts become. My undead half-Lizardfolk / half-Warforged Blood Hunter prince walks up to the barkeeper and asks for a drink, “one milk please... in a dirty glass!”
My level 12 wizard liked to sit in the back, suddenly 3 shadows snuck up on him. 3 hits in the surprise round, i ran for my life with a strength of one.
I Must Serve my Undead Overlords!.... Know if anyone reads the newspapers anymore? Or is that like putting up flyers nowadays. Ah whatever, I'll just spread our darkness through Word of mouth
The shadow becoming full after latching on to a "good person" is a reference to Freudian or jungian psychology. Which posits that the impulses you have but dont act on are still you, as much as everything you DO do is you. And that not integrating this into your whole being will lead to issues or inability to behave the way you want to as parts of you (the shadow) act out in order to be recognized. I have no idea why DnD shadows get full because of this though.
LITERALLY YESTERDAY I MADE AN ENCOUNTER USING SHADOWS!! (not for halloween bcs my country no do dat) So my encounter is that my player has a cursed sword and if he kills five of anything it summons a shadow and when a shadow kills something it summons another, when 20 shadows are summoned a wraith appears. Gonna be fun to play.
Question: Does the body of a person killed by a shadow cast a shadow? Because isn't it their shadow that is animated? Especially since if they are resurrected they do not cast a shadow?
Savage species. 3.0/5 There was a Shadow monster class. 3d12 hitdice but a lelev adjustment of +7 because of it's create spawn n immediate flight. Offset by the fact a 1st level cleric could turn it at about a %50 chance. So 10 total levels. However given a triten used to be a 5 level monster class. And a lot of changes to stats and immunities. Shadow is plausible considering revenant became a race. And considering similar class and racial abilities though not impossible it is still far from easy and not recommended.
Um... I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I haven't found anywhere better. Can people outside the US participate from the book contests/giveaways?
a shade is a person that replaced a part of their soul with the essence of shadow. A shadow is literally just that.. a person's shadow that becomes animate as an undead creature. Functional difference between the two.. The process of becoming a shadow after being killed by one involves with all of the good and positive traits of your mind being sucked out and all of the necrotic, corrosive and repulsive impulses and ideas sink into the shadow which gives it its chaotic evil disposition. A shade is not necessarily completely evil but they are not able to be of the good alignment either because of their nature.
As always I'm thankful for the video. Shoutout to Demogorgon.

1 solution to a Shadow problem. Fireball, JUST Fireball.
>insert Jocat wizard video here.
*especially the wizard*
Lol the Thicker Man. I fully expect to see the Thicker Man as a future SCP.
I always picture shadows as the heartless in kingdom hearts
Doctor who; "Silence in the Library," and "Forest of the Dead" episodes, for the shadows. "The Family of Blood," for the scarecrows.

What a coincidence! I almost wiped my party with some scarecrows the other night. They tried to blame me, but it was a strawman argument
Imagine if the encounter was a cropped version of an even deadlier one. This video would be wicked, too, uncropped. I'd flock over as soon as I could

Sweet video as always and shout out to demogorgon and his Ixitxachitls homeie!
Hacky sacking Scarecrow. The Hags ultimate creation.
Discovered these recently, I've been binging them and have subscribed. Keep up the great work!

Give their souls to the hungry dark.
My level 12 wizard liked to sit in the back, suddenly 3 shadows snuck up on him. 3 hits in the surprise round, i ran for my life with a strength of one.
scarecrow were the second encounter i made for my party and it was a small army in a corn maze which was fun
I Must Serve my Undead Overlords!....

Tasha's Cauldron allows you to play as a shadow
I imagined the Thicker Man as looking like the Wickerman but really jacked.
I feel like an Aetherborn Shadow Sorcerer would be a good approximation of a Shadow with less resistance but better stats.
Idea: Have the players play as commoners and run a 1980s slasher film inspired one shot with a scarecrow.

Im imagining a boss Scarecrow that is a Scarecrow with really long scythe arms and its bottom half is an animated harvester thats trying to eat you.

I’m watching them in order and I’m on episode 45, so I’ll watch this in a couple weeks, v excited
Anyone else think you should be able to summon shadows with summon undead/create undead
Put the scare back into scarecrow.
I can't believe you guys didn't shout out to Venger and his servant shadow from D&D the animated series.
Stellar Homebrew Ideas. ;)
Great video as usual 👍

Shadow shadow sorcerer or monk

The idea that a shadow pursues good people might come from the fact objects in bright light cast shadows with shaper outlines than when in dim light.
Shadows are the Shit!!!
You CAN NOT PLAY AS A SHADOW!

What is the difference between a shadow and a shade?
