QUICK NOTE* If you wish to recreate the seashell DIY make sure to work outdoors and use a mask for protection against the sea shell dust. It can cause harm to lungs.
I’m glad you noted this, so many do not understand that seashell dust has sharps edges that will cut into your air passages and lungs causing scarring and long term damage. Proper respiratory masks and eye protection are needed.

I lived across from the beach when I lived in Virginia and I still can hear the sound of the waves.
I live near the beach (an hour away) and I usually look for the shells that naturally have the hole in them. You did a great job. I love everything!!
The tray looks gorgeous! I think it turned out to be much prettier with the white inside. Beautiful! And the boat! So cute! You're right: these are not crafts, but beautiful decor pieces. It gave me beautiful ideas!

I love the beach and when my son was stationed in Pensacola for tech school, we were able to visit twice! Most recently, we flew in to Tampa and spent a long weekend there and in Port Richey. I’m hoping to make it to Clearwater before this sumner is up. I love all of the coastal decor. That little boat is precious. Stay blessed!!

The shell necklace you have on, OMGoodness I have the same one. I bought it over 40 years ago on a beach vacation to Half Moon Bay, California. And in all those 40 years I have never seen anyone else with one. Just saying. And yes I still wear it, usually with a pair of jeans, a mans white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and it still makes a lovely look. Enjoy your diy's keep up the great work. I loved them all Yami. I particularly appreciate the fact you share the tribulations as well the triumphs. Your ‘save’ for the tray was fantastic. I actually liked it better all white. It’s a good lesson, sometimes despite all our best efforts. things start to go wrong and we have to just take a breath and see what we can do to make things better and often it turns out better than we expected. So kudos to your for perseverance .😁
For your next small project requiring grout, you could put the grout in a zipper top bag, twist it and put the grout into one corner, cut that corner and squeeze it out, like frosting.
You might have better luck getting it exactly where you want. 😉

The boat and tray are my favs. The boat is so simple yet looks perfect. For the tray the grout seamed to give you a challenge. I wonder if using white sand and resin would have been better (would resin even work over sand?).
I hope to practice with some resin in the future and if I am comfortable I may come back and add resin to the tray.
Hello,
Next time you want to apply “Grout” into tight/small places, put your Grout into a Pastry Bag. I prefer to use a “Tip” a plain round works best, it also controls exactly where you want to apply your Grout for a lot less wiping later on.
I absolutely adored all of your Coastal Projects, especially the Sail Boat. My Son lives in a Beach Town and his entire home is decorated with a Coastal/Brach Theme. I’m definitely going to make some of your projects with the help of my Grandkids. ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I agree sea shells can look a little bit blah, but yours look easily as good as a set of quality wooden bead strands; your shells looked even better to me!! The sea glass set into your own tray is a perfect way to use your sea treasures, so you can enjoy them for many years to come. Great question! I thought about it but 1. I didn’t have the proper tools 2. I want to practice on something I’m okay with messing up first and 3. Baby steps 🥴🤣 😉 … I would love to come back and seal the top with resin. Hopefully I can in the future. 🥰🥰

I noticed that the drill bit danced across the sea shells while you tried to start the drilling. This has happened to me on surfaces that are not flat. I place a piece of painter's tape onto the surface first. Mark the tape where you want to drill. This gives the drill bit something to grab onto and prevents the drill bit from moving. I can't do mortar or groat again🤦 After tiling my childhood home bathroom with an antique footed bathtub and a huge kitchen with a Butler's Pantry floors😬 I am done with groat and mortar.

I need pieces for some hanging wall baskets. And, glued sea glass on a painted DT Tumbling Tower flat base with the mod podge mixture will be perfection.
The air bubbles add to the DIY.
After all, there are air bubbles in the sea 🤓
