As I recall he also made some runs with the bat in the final. He and Inzamam with a good old slog at the end to reach 250. 💪
Funny thing is how he could extract that amount of swing away from right hander bowling wide of the crease..Wrist of steel seriously.. Amazing skill..It's as if those wrists never wavered from the target..hence the dip n bite of the pitch..

Asif, Ryan Harris have done it. If it hits the seam, there's a chance it moves the opposite direction of swing.
I am a big Wasim Akram fan but I have seen Kapil Dev swing the ball both ways before Wasim Akram became a top bowler.

Short run up, quick arm action with great pace and masterful swing and seam movement. A true sultan of swing - the like of whom we shall not see again.
And I never saw him arrogant or sledging. One of those players/humans that everyone liked.

Shaheen afridi,naseem and others could be somewhat like akram and waqar only in one condition,if they brig back 1 ball rule in an odi innings. Today we have two ball rule for the 50over match which eliminates all reverse swing . In test matches naseem and shaheen both have done extremely well and reverses the ball but in odi its not possible due to two ball rule . Its a stupid move which favors the batsmen..

Back in the day Wasim and Waqar would clean the batting line up. Probably the best Bowler in the World. Wasim Akram.
Played only 104 test matches in 17-18 years. Even if he managed 10 test matches every year, he would’ve got 100-150 more wickets. GOAT
Everytime i watched him bowl, I felt he was gonna take a wicket. Only bowler that made me feel that way and now it's Rashid Khan who makes me feel that way
As an Englishman I am a big fan of swing. I think if I were to pick my all time 11 wasim would be my specialist swing bowler.
He taught us a lot of what we use to this day. Very innovative player and rapid and not a slouch with the bat too.

The real king of swings
Wasim Akram could swing the ball in both directions like many others did.. but the thing is.. He did it wayyyyyyy more consistently.. with higher pace than the others did ..and a lot more yorkers.. and with that high release point...it made him more deadly... than McGrath(only for a certain amount of time), Waqar, sreenath, amir ,Asif , Anderson, broad, bumrah, marshal, Richard lilly, Pollock, Donald, Kapil dev and many more.... all are in close contention..and could do what Wasim does... ..Wasim just did it more... and if they had Drs and better fielding side back then. Wasim Akram wd hold 200-250 more wickets in tests and 150+ more wickets in ODI today
I can’t contain myself when he bowls,really marvellous specially when he bowled Great SACHIN.
Although there wasn't much special about the way the ball hit the wicket. It was as straight as a ball you might get of course with the exception of one thing.... exceptional skill in disguising the slow ball without giving it away.
Many bowlers fail at the slow ball because batsmen pick up on the slower arm action and are able to respond easily to the change of pace. But wasim was simply a bag full of skills. 10 best wickets here don't do much justice. Of the top of my head I remember those occasions when he got David with a change in direction in swing, bring a few balls in and then get his wicket by taking the balls away with out swingers.
Absolutely ridiculous. Have never seen anything like that before or after him is all I can say

Num 6 HAS to be his greatest delivery - it was the 1992 World Cup FINAL & England were on top in the 35th over. Wasim took 2 wickets in 2 balls and changed the game. Look at the angle of the delivery, where it hits the stump and Allan Lambs reaction. It was was UNPLAYABLE
